Your roadmap for success

Preparing a business plan is like outlining an itinerary for a trip. You want a clear map that you can follow step by step while developing your business.

W3-HB-Security

Business plans have long been a critical document for new businesses. A good business plan should guide you throughout the start-up process. A business plan is still a must for some scenarios and some reasons. Every entrepreneur and start-up company needs a plan. Before deciding exactly what that looks like and how to create it, there are some critical questions to answer and factors to understand.

Who do you need the business plan for? Do you need these for internal teams and stakeholders to ensure that they understand the vision of the business or externally for potential business partners or investors as you build and scale your business.

You should have a plan to get yourself organized and to ensure you have some type of viable commercial potential. You have focus and hopefully aren’t going to run out of money or starve before you get going. If that’s all you need, and you don’t plan to raise money, apply for loans and don’t intend on bringing in partners, then you certainly don’t need an elaborate document. Keep it simple.

If you are preparing a business plan, it needs to have six key elements: an executive summary, a description of the company, products/services, market analysis, management team, and a financial plan. While the executive summary is an overview of the company, the company should include a high-level overview of the history of the company, business legal structure, your products/services, key partners, and summaries of your financial and business goals.

The product and services segment should outline in more detail what you offer and how you differentiate yourself from others which could be covered in the market analysis segment that should outline the market need and how your products and services satisfy that need. This includes targeted customer segments, industry statistics, pertinent marketing data, and a thorough examination of your competitors' strengths and weaknesses.

Most people say that investors (especially angel investors) look at the team. It is important for them to know who is running the business. So include details of your core team with an organizational chart with departmental descriptions and information regarding the owners, key employees, the management team, board members, advisors, etc.

The last section of your business plan should be created with the help of a professional accountant. Include important financial statements, such as historical financial data from the past three to five years, realistic budget forecasts over the next five years and an analysis of your all financial data.

For any company to succeed, all stakeholders (from business partners to employees) should understand the dynamics of the business plan. The more people who are involved in the formation of the business plan, the more ideas you can circulate. It is important to consider everyone's input to ensure that the outcome is pleasant for all stakeholders.

A business plan still plays a critical role in launching a profitable and sustainable venture today. New trends and the data show that the best time to complete a robust plan may now come later in the business’ journey than it used to. When it comes to business plan creation there are now more templates and streamlined formats that are being adjusted to meet today’s needs to accommodate faster moving, leaner start-ups.

No matter how you do it, and who you’ll show your plan to, make sure to have someone with experience review it for you.

Building from our strong foundations as a telco giant

e& has strongly positioned itself with its solid financial performance, network leadership and brand value. In 2022, e& began the journey of transformation to a global technology group by revealing its new brand identity, creating new verticals and acquiring high growth assets in the telecommunications and technology space.

Our e& 2030 strategy is designed to transition e& from topline stability to sustained growth. e& aspires to change its business composition from being UAE telco centric to a more balanced geographic profile with higher revenue contribution outside the UAE and from the non-telco verticals.

The majority of the revenue growth will come from investments and the successful integration of non-UAE telcos, with a focus on mature, stable markets and OpCos with strong capabilities and size, with upside potential from scale synergies. e& will also explore opportunities to increase its presence in existing markets. For example, through increasing ownership, acquiring additional telcos and leveraging the digital verticals in these markets. At the same time, e& will continue to explore new delayering opportunities including infrastructure and will continue exploring opportunities in future technologies. e& will continue utilising the power of Data and AI to digitise, automate and transform all its operations to improve agility, productivity, and customer experience.

ESG is a top priority and e& is committed to an environmentally sustainable future as well as fostering an engaged, diverse and inclusive workplace. Therefore, as part of our e& 2030 strategy we declared our commitment to achieving net zero in the UAE for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 through a mixed approach of abatement initiatives and carbon offsetting.

Our Strategy

As part of our 2030 strategy, we have great ambitions to move from a stable top line to sustained growth over the next eight years, abiding by our four strategic pillars:

Double down on core

Where we will continue to invest in telco to generate growth and scale. We will double down on core business in the UAE operation and will grow our international footprint.

Diversify portfolio

As we look towards having a more balanced geographic profile with a higher contribution from the non-telco verticals, we will invest to increase the percentage of revenue from non-telco.

Digitalise and transform operations

Given the ever-evolving and competitive business landscape, we will continue to digitalise and transform our operations by improving productivity, customer experience and efficiency. We are focused on bringing to the ecosystem new opportunities where we can leverage our data and capabilities.

Etisalat, the UAE’s leading telecom services provider, has launched new shared mobile data plans for multiple users, for the first time in the region.

Business DataShare allows businesses to access mobile data over range of devices including smartphones, tablets and laptops. Businesses can enjoy freedom from individual employee subscriptions and choose from smaller data packs such as 5GB and as their business grows, the size of data packs can go up to 30GB per month.

Business DataShare packs facilitate sharing of data among multiple users. Starting at Dh249 per month, the packs are available at a minimal incremental charge per user. Business can choose to link up to eight users to the pool.

Commenting on the new shared data packs, John Lincoln, senior vice-president, Business Marketing, etisalat UAE, said: “We thoroughly understand the communication needs of the business community. Businesses cannot afford to compromise on efficiency while balancing the costs. Access to mobile data plays a critical role and is an integral necessity for successful businesses.

“This is why Business DataShare has been designed in such a way that the dynamic demands and requirements of UAE’s business customers are met by allowing them to share one pool of data with multiple users. The sharable data packs enable business owner to stay online and connected while in the office or on the go.

“They can surf, check emails and download files in real-time to increase productivity and optimise cost of running business. The launch of Business DataShare further strengthens etisalat’s position as a pioneer of innovative business solutions.”

Existing business customers of etisalat as well as new customers with mobile number that start with either 055 or 052 can avail of the offer.

This unique offer is in line with Etisalat’s on-going strategy of offering added value packages for business customers. Etisalat’s 4G LTE network covers 85 per cent of the inhabited area of the country and allows users of 4G devices to connect to the internet at speeds up to 150 Mbps.

Healthcare firm Aoti to unveil plans for £160m London float

An American provider of specialist woundcare technology is planning to raise roughly £40m from a listing on London's junior AIM market next month, Sky News understands.

An American developer of woundcare technology is preparing to push the button on a London stock market flotation next month in a further signal of the City's tentative recovery as a multinational listing venue.

Sky News has learnt that AOTI - or Advanced Oxygen Therapy Inc - is drawing up plans to raise roughly $50m (£39.5m) from an initial public offering in London.

City sources said the company expected to announce its plans in the first half of June.

If successful, the flotation on the junior AIM market is likely to value AOTI at around £160m, the sources added.

Based in California, AOTI says its medical technology reduces the need for amputations in patients by more than two-thirds.

Although modest in size, its flotation would provide a further boost to the London listings market.

This week, Raspberry Pi, a maker of cheap personal computers, confirmed plans for a £500m UK float.

Peel Hunt, the investment bank, is working on both the Raspberry Pi and Aoti deals.

The biggest target, however, remains Shein, the Chinese-founded online fashion behemoth, which is likely to be valued in excess of £50bn when it goes public.

Sky News revealed several months ago that Shein was preparing to switch its focus from a New York listing to one in London, and that it had held talks with Jeremy Hunt, the chancellor, about its plans.

A spokesman for AOTI declined to comment on its IPO plans.

Business Wire

MIDLAND, Texas--( BUSINESS WIRE )--AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS), the company building the first and only space-based cellular broadband network accessible directly by standard mobile phones, announced it has achieved repeated successful download speeds above 10 Mbps during testing of BlueWalker 3. Space-based cellular communications at 4G speeds using unmodified smartphones is another world first telecommunications achievement by AST SpaceMobile.

Engineers conducted download speed tests in Hawaii during June using multiple everyday, off-the-shelf smartphones. The 4G LTE download speed testing, which used AT&T spectrum and Nokia RAN technology, reached initial speeds up to 10.3 Mbps, with further testing of voice calls to AT&T employees. Evaluation of BlueWalker 3’s capabilities continues, with enablement of 5G cellular broadband as the next major test activity.

“AST SpaceMobile’s space-based cellular capabilities are designed to be a critical extension for cellular communications. In addition to supporting basic voice and text that we expect from phones, it would also enable users to browse the internet, download files, use messaging apps or stream video,” said Abel Avellan, Chairman and CEO of AST SpaceMobile. “Achieving this milestone from an unmodified, standard cell phone on the ground connecting through our low Earth orbit satellite is another groundbreaking moment in telecommunications history and an important step toward AST SpaceMobile’s goal of bringing broadband services to parts of the world where cellular coverage is either unreliable or simply does not exist today.”

Chris Sambar, Head of AT&T Network, said: “Successfully reaching double-digit download speeds during satellite-to-smartphone testing takes us one step closer to ensuring people across the United States will be able to stay connected no matter their location. This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the overall focus and determination of the teams working daily to achieve our shared space-based vision of connectivity.”

Alberto Ripepi, Chief Network Officer at Vodafone, said: “Each mobile milestone in Vodafone’s history has moved us closer to connectivity for all. Achieving these mobile speeds, via satellite direct to standard 4G smartphones, shrinks the digital divide even further. Together with Vodacom and AST SpaceMobile, we look forward to bringing this capability to our customers in the hardest to reach areas of Africa and Europe.”

Tommi Uitto, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia, said: “This is an important milestone that will see real mobile broadband connectivity delivered directly to smartphones from space via AST SpaceMobile’s platform. As the RAN provider, we are proud to play a role in this important initiative that will provide crucial connectivity around the world.”

Today’s news follows other recent world’s first announcements from AST SpaceMobile as the company readies its technology for commercialization. On April 25, AST SpaceMobile announced it had completed the first-ever space-based voice calls using everyday unmodified smartphones. Paving the way for these achievements was the successful deployment of BlueWalker 3 , which is the largest-ever commercial communications array deployed in low-Earth orbit and designed to communicate directly with cellular devices via 3GPP standard frequencies at 5G speeds. In its now unfolded position, the satellite spans 693 square feet in size, a design feature critical to support a space-based cellular broadband network.

AST SpaceMobile technology is designed to expand coverage for wireless companies, filling in gaps and dead zones in their networks. This could help bring cellular broadband services to hundreds of millions of people across the globe who still lack access to reliable cellular service. The company has agreements and understandings with more than 35 mobile network operators globally that have approximately 2 billion existing subscribers, including Vodafone Group, Rakuten Mobile, AT&T, Bell Canada, Orange, Telefonica, TIM, Saudi Telecom Company, Zain KSA, Etisalat, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Smart Communications, Globe Telecom, Millicom, Smartfren, Telecom Argentina, Telstra, Africell, Liberty Latin America and others. Vodafone, Rakuten, American Tower, Samsung NEXT and Bell Canada are also investors in AST SpaceMobile.

About AST SpaceMobile

AST SpaceMobile, Inc. is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. For more information, follow AST SpaceMobile on YouTube , Twitter , LinkedIn and Facebook . Watch this video for an overview of the SpaceMobile mission.
