Communication: IELTS Direct Question Essay Model Answer

In this post, we will look at a direct question essay example Communication from the IELTS writing task 2 test.

Students often ask if the questions are repeated year after year and the answer is no, but the topics are. There are so many questions written each year, you may find your practice answering various questions on different topics. For example, you could write essays to answer questions about education or the environment, which benefits you because you learn vocabulary associated with those topics and develop ideas that can help you in your writing test. Practising writing IELTS task 2 essays on a range of topics is a great way to learn new vocabulary for those topics, but also to practice your essay structures. Communication

News plays an important part in most people’s lives. why is news so important to people why is so much news dedicated to bad news should the news focus on the food news instead.

Take a look at the model answer.

The news is a vital way of communicating information in everyone’s lives. This essay believes that being updated to current events makes news essential to our existence. Firstly, this essay will discuss the importance of news to the general public, secondly, why there is a large portion of news devoted to horrific events and lastly, why we should focus more on reporting positive stories.

On the one hand, people should rely on news channels to be updated on current events because somehow the general population is always affected by it. Information we have learned from news broadcasts may affect our choices whether we vote for one person or another, learning about a place that has a conflict or to know what is happening with world economics. For example, Pulse Asia in 2015 reported that 98% of presidential candidates in the Philippines counted on media coverage to reach potential voters all over the country.

On the other hand, many news networks choose to report about negative occurrences simply because of gaining higher ratings. They rely on the numbers of people who tune in to their news programs as this generates a lot of commercials, thus results in larger revenues since companies pay a lot of money for exposure. For example, an article released by GMA news Philippines in 2014 reported that 89% of their audiences would remember news about horrific crimes rather than news about the economic growth of the country.

Lastly, in my opinion, I believe that broadcasters should concentrate more on showing news that inspires other people. Hearing about positive news motivates viewers to have a better view of the world and in society. When disasters strike, often widespread news of people donating food and blankets, can promote the cause and motivate others to get involved. For instance, in my own personal experience in 2016 during the wrath of Haiyan in the Philippines, I was inspired by a news story asking for help, so I sent food and money as a small contribution.

In conclusion, people should be informed about the latest happenings around the globe whether it is good or bad news. News can also inspire people to work together in times of conflict, during wars, natural disasters and other humanitarian plights.

Model Essay 1

The rapid expansion of the internet and proliferation of social media platforms have transformed global communication, engendering both expansive benefits and significant risks. While I assert that these changes are largely beneficial, this essay will explore both the enhanced connectivity and the associated challenges of misinformation, proposing that education and regulation are essential for mitigating the negative impacts.

Social media transcends traditional communication barriers, such as the slow pace of letter delivery, by enabling instant global interactions through emails, tweets, and messages. This immediate connectivity enhances personal relationships and fosters international cooperation. For instance, during crises like natural disasters, social media platforms like Twitter prove crucial for quickly sharing information and coordinating relief efforts, thereby playing a key role in emergency response and recovery. This function highlights social media's transformative impact on how we connect and collaborate across distances.

However, social media's engaging features, such as vast reach and anonymity, contribute to its drawbacks by facilitating the spread of misinformation. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the rapid circulation of unverified information through these platforms created widespread confusion and posed serious public health risks. Additionally, the algorithms that drive content curation on these platforms tend to prioritize user engagement over accuracy, promoting sensationalist material that may not be truthful, thereby compounding the problem. This dynamic highlights the need for careful management and regulation of social media to mitigate its negative impacts while preserving its benefits.

Despite these concerns, I contend that the evolution of communication through social media is fundamentally positive. Introducing comprehensive digital literacy programs in schools would empower young users to critically evaluate online content and recognize biased information. Such initiatives, supported by policy changes that hold digital platforms accountable for content management, can significantly reduce the impact of misinformation.

In conclusion, while social media presents new challenges in the form of misinformation and rapid dissemination of harmful content, these issues can be addressed through education and regulatory reforms.

Model Essay 2

The invention and the prevalence of social media have influenced how individuals communicate with others in this contemporary society. While some people believe that this is a positive change, others argue that there are negative impacts of social media. I firmly believe that while there are cons of social media as well as pros, we can mitigate it through education.

One of the advantages of using social media is being able to communicate with anyone in the world without any delays. In doing so, users can send different types of information, including texts, images, videos and emojis. This is a substantial development compared to letters, which is an old way of communication, as they took few months to be sent overseas and allowed only papers and small items to be put in the envelopes. Moreover, individuals can even share images and videos that are posted by other users on social media. My friend and I often send hilarious reels to each other on Instagram to help each other relieve stresses. This exemplifies that social media allows users to keep communicating with their friends and families even if they do not have any recent updates.

While there are advantages of social media, it also has negative effects on individuals, such as misinformation. Since all individuals can share information without expertise in the technological field, a lot of fake posts and videos can be observed on social media. For instance, many users pretended to be citizens of Ukraine or Russia when the war between these two countries broke out, spreading incorrect update about the war. Furthermore, once fake information is posted on social media, it can be shared unintentionally by other users who believe it to be true, thus allowing it to spread among users quickly.

From my point of view, social media is a positive development. The negative aspects of social media are the undeniable facts; however, they can be mitigated by encouraging schools and parents to educate their kids about possible dangers on social media before letting their children use it.

In conclusion, social media holds both positive and negative effects on users. However, it should be viewed as a positive development, considering how education can be an effective way to mitigate its negative impacts.

IELTS Essay, topic: The Internet and communication

  • IELTS Essays - Band 7

Some say that the Internet is making the world smaller by bringing people together. To what extent do to you agree that the Internet is making it easier for people to communicate with one another?

communication related essay ielts

Electronic mail, instant messages, web cameras and microphones; all these gadgets and programs make the presence of the other person more real. Who knows; with the help of visual reality you might even get a 3-D image of the speaker! I believe that the Internet is one the best inventions of the last century, you can hardly get to miss anyone and nobody is really out of reach. You can keep in touch with your friends, and be able to do your work from your bedroom in your pajamas!

However, the internet can also be a major source of harassment. Spammers and hackers can invade your privacy and get personal/confidential information, which otherwise they never get access to. You are never out of anybody’s reach, unless you make a conscious decision of not checking your email, there can be always more work waiting for you in your inbox and you might never have a moment to yourself. Worse yet, if you were a workaholic, you might never experience that stress-free vacation ever again in your life – simply, because you have your mobile workplace with you at all times.

As a romantic, I will always look forward to getting an occasional letter in the snail mail. A personal letter, where I can sense the mood of the writer by the slants in his/her handwriting and get to know him/her better. But as a type A personality person, the internet gives me all what I dream of in terms of communication – the speed, reliability, and convenience of time and place. I can certainly tolerate its shortcomings any day, as long as it keeps me close to my loved ones.

This is a great essay, which seems worthy of Band 7 or perhaps even 8. It is longer than required (340 words instead of 250) which means that it took you more time to write and less time to check your work.

Hi Sarwar, you can write your opinion in the conclusion paragraph instead of the introduction. It won’t affect your score for task response.

Communication Technology Essay

This Communication Technology Essay is about how relationships have been impacted. This is the question:

Nowadays, the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology.

In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships people make?

Is this a positive or negative development?

Understanding the Task

You should be able to see that there are two parts that need to be answered:

The first part is about general effects and the second part is asking for your opinion about this.

So it doesn't easily fit into an essay 'type'.

Don't worry about this. If you have learned to recognize different types of essay but you find one that does not seem to fit any, just focus on working out exactly what you are being asked.

So in this one you have to brainstorm some ideas about the way relationships have changed.

Stating your Opinion

For the second part you need to decide if it is positive or negative, or both.

Choosing one side and writing about it is probably the simplest way to approach it. In other words:

  • Body 1: The way relationships have changed
  • Body 2: The negative impacts (or positive)

Although it says ' positive or negative ', it's YOUR opinion, so if you decide it is both it is fine to say this as long as you  make it clear .

In this model Communication Technology Essay, the writer has stated that it is both positive and negative.

  • Body 1: The way relationships have changed (positive)
  • Body 2: The negative impacts

When you take a look at the model answer, you'll see the writer has discussed the new types of relationships and labelled them as positive, but then gone on to look at the negative sides.

communication related essay ielts

There are usually several ways you can approach and organize an essay, not just one. As long as it is coherent and answers the question, that is fine.

Now take a look at the model answer and the comments below.

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Write about the following topic:

Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge.

Write at least 250 words.

Model Answer:

It is evident that technology has transformed the ways of communication and influenced relationships in a variety of ways. In my opinion, there are both positive and negative effects of this.

The principal way in which relationships have been affected is that they tend to be at a distance rather than face-to-face. The advent of the internet has made it easy for business owners to communicate across the world, with remote job opportunities one call away. Online educational programs are available for people residing in different countries, and it is no longer a dream to attend live classes from the comfortable environment of a home. Not only this, the social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have revolutionized relationships, be it making online friendships with people from other countries or staying in touch with loved ones. Based on this perspective, technology has influenced relationships in a positive way.

However, despite these advances, the quality of interaction has significantly declined in several respects. If people are developing most of their relationships online, this means that they may also have less fact-to-face contact. This kind of contact on a personal level is important for human beings to feel wanted and a part of society. This may be a particular problem for children's social development as they used to be seen playing out on the streets but are now too often indoors. Technology can also mean people are detached from what is going on around them even when they are out, as can be seen by the many people staring into their mobile phones as they travel or walk around.

In conclusion, technology has brought some positive development in the ways people interact with each other. However, there are also some negative impacts of technology on the types of relationships people make.

(299 Words)

This Communication Technology Essay would get a good score for the following reasons.

It fully answers the question, setting out the way the types of relationships people make have changed (they tend to be ' online ') and then expanding on this by giving examples.

A balanced opinion is also clearly explained, with the impacts in the first body paragraph seen to be positive, and the second body paragraph dedicated to explaining the negative points.

The essay is also clearly organised and coherent, with the opinion clearly stated and the body paragraphs clearly each focused on one central idea.

There is also good vocabulary used and good collocations. For example:

  • advent of the internet
  • remote job opportunities
  • social platforms
  • revolutionized relationships
  • people are detached from

The grammar shows accuracy and a wide range of structures are used.

There is no conclusion in writing task 1. The examiner is looking for an overview in task 1 and a conclusion in task 2. This is not an opinion, it is a fact which IELTS has shown in the band scores. All the best Liz

' src=

Dear Liz Madam, Could you please rate my filling in the gaps as following of the above task ? 1. I had no idea what she was talking about. Then suddenly she asked a question that I couldn’t understand so I just shrug off my shoulders and walked away.

2. My always tells tall stories. Yesterday he to work with another unbelievable story but the only response I could give was to wink my eyebrows.

3. If there’s one thing I hate, It’s being late. Once I was in a really long meeting at work and by the time we finished I was late to meet my friend. During the meeting I could feel myself getting impatient and my foot started trembling on the floor. 4. I can’t stand watching films at the cinema because you can’t relax like you can in private, particularly when watching an action movie full of surprise and shocks. When there’s a really sudden unexpected scene, my eyes brighen and mouth starts to open which I find really embarrassing in public. 5. I remember once I was late for appointment. When I arrived, which was over 1 hour late, I turned into deep red and stammered an apology.

Please follow the answers link above. All the best Liz

1. Shrugged 2. Raised 3. knocking 4.widened/ strangely 5.became

1. Shrugged 2. Raise 3.Tapping 4. Widen, hangs 5. Turned

' src=

Regarding questions 3 and 4, I am not sure of my answers.

' src=

5. became / turned 1. shrugged 2. knit that’s what i know

A good try. If a person knitted their eye brows, it means they were concentrating really hard or possibly a bit angry. So, for this sentence it wouldn’t work. The key is “a tall story” which means a story that might be imaginary because it is too unbelievable. Think of what people do with their eye brows if they don’t really believe something. Check your answer tomorrow. Liz

dear Liz, here are my guess words: 1. shrug 2. raise 3. thumping 4. pop, wide 5. turned

Hi Liz, My name is Raj and I’m from India. on August 13 , I given a IELTS exam. I wrote in task 2 as per that requirements and your bolg aid me to do so . task 2— “some people say that government should not spend a money as they have disadvantage people like unemployed and homeless, to what extent do you agree or disagree. make the comparison where relevant”.

I used following structure

Introduction paragraph –background statement(today…..) –detailed background statement (this has been seen in……) —- thesis(…….disagree…this idea is supported) —- outline(2 point of view)

supporting paragraph 1 topic—-(Firstly) example(Take,India, for example..) discussion (it is cleared….) conclusion (.it is believed….)

supporting paragraph 2 —topic(on the other hand….) —example(For instance……in Nagaland.) —discussion(it is obvious….) —-conclusion (thus…..)

conclusion paragraph –summary (2 POV) —restatement of thesis —recommendations (it is recommended..)

Can you say this structure is going to help me for score better. I also used the words and phrases Like precursor, fortify, account, the world over, accomplish…. etc.

I can’t say without seeing the actual ideas and how you presented them in each paragraph. Body paragraphs do not need conclusions. “It is believed” is about what other people think but this essay is only about what you think, not other people. Using such words as “precursor” and “the world over” will not help you get a high score unless all your vocabulary is accurate and strong. Just a few words won’t make much difference. The introduction only needs two statements, not three. Without seeing your essay, I can’t comment further but wish you good luck with your results. All the best Liz

Hi dear liz Here is my trial; 1/ pulled up 2/ raised 3/ knocking 4/ bulge and strangely 5/ became

IELTS Blog & IELTS Mock Test

Ielts exam preparation for a higher band score., ielts essay – impact of technology on communication.

IELTS Essay:

Topic: Impact of technology on communication. (Advantages & Disadvantages).

Sample Answer: It is a true fact to consider that in the present day the world has become a global village. As a result technology has main impact to the contemporary world. Considering this, some analysts consider the positive impacts of technology on our communication while others shows the negative aspects of it. However, there are some pros and cons behind implementation of said proposal.

There are some significant advantages of the influences of technology on communication and time saving could be a significant fact to be considered. It is generally seen that few decades ago people used to send letters to exchange a few words and ideas with others and waited a long time to get reply from them. However, as the development of technology people use modern equipment for communication to each other. For example, telephone, mobile phones, internet and e-mails etc.  Moreover, building relationship easily and across the boundary with each other may be another merit of the technological advancement. Therefore, people are not getting alone anymore because closed families and friends get chance to find out their loved ones.

Despite, the advantages pointed out above regarding immense benefit of communication, there are some disadvantages that cannot be neglected without any careful consideration. Unstable cyber relationships could be a detrimental fact. It may be defined as that nowadays social media has brought people together and made new relationships possible. As result some relationships led to many crimes For instance, internet frauds, lying deceiving have become very common nowadays.

In the end, undoubtedly, whether communication is good or bad to the society is a matter of discussion; however, as far as I am concern communication has enormous benefits to the contemporary world and it outweighs certain drawbacks. The way we live our life could not have been possible without the blessing of the modern technology and communications.

IELTS Essay Sample Questions # Communication

Humans are social animal and communication is need of every individual. However, there has been a reduction in the amount of time people are spending with their family members in present times.

You should spend 40 minutes on this task.

Communication between family members has decreased in recent times. Do you agree or disagree?

You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE ANSWER

[Part 1 – Paraphrasing the question ]

Modern times have shown an increase in the number of people commuting across the globe in search of better opportunities. With the world expanding, citizens all over are facing psychological issues with the nomadic lifestyle, often leaving people depressed. Some believe that nowadays, number of people tend to have weak ties with their family members. In my opinion, family links are weakening for the advancement of technology and new ways of living.

[Part II – body: your example ]

The world has been taken aback by the exponential growth in technology. From times when it took months for messages to spread across, the world now can interact with the click of a button. With inventions like the internet, mobile phones and personal computing people often tend to spend more time on these devices than communicating with family members. An average Indian spend around 160 minutes daily on apps on the phone.

People are traveling more than ever in search of jobs or career advancement. This has caused an increase in the work pressure often leaving people clubbed into smaller groups. Adding to it are more working hours and reduced number of holidays adding up to the pathetic state of lives individuals are forced to live in. This results in people spending less quality time with their family members, especially the extended family.

[Part III – Conclusion]

Modern lifestyle constituting workaholics and tech-savvy people have changed the entire picture of the way society functions. Nuclear families are taking shape along with changes in work life, leaves little time for family and the trend is likely to continue in future.

commuting – travel some distance between one’s home and place of work on a regular basis.

nomadic – living the life of a nomad; wandering.

workaholics –  a person who compulsively works excessively hard and long hours.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) has an entire portion dedicated to the speaking and in one of the speaking parts, there is an activity where a cue card is provided to the candidate and one is asked to speak on a topic continuously for two to three minutes. Every student must write a comprehensive and explanatory answer that explains every aspect of the question.

In the present scenario, the question requires the student to discuss and elaborate upon the modern forms of communication. Their answer must cover the following points:

  • List down some essential and modern forms of communication
  • Are these modes of communication a boon or bane for the people?
  • Navigating a balance between the in-person and virtual communication modes
  • The concluding opinion

Table of Contents

Discuss whether you are in favor of or against the prevalence of modern forms of communication: question 1, what do you prefer- connecting on social media or talking in person: question 2, frequently asked questions, important ielts exam resources.

The modern world has evolved over the years due to the progress made in the field of technology. Communicating with your loved ones in a world like this shouldn't be difficult. Thanks to the  modern forms of communication like messaging and video calling, you can now stay in close touch with your clan.

People from the older generation are often found not favoring these advancements. They believe that newer modes of communication have eradicated the possibility of one-on-one discussions. Mechanizing the process of connecting with someone has erased the presence of human feelings. It is very difficult to understand the tone and emotion through mere texts.

However, I believe that having access to each other via texts, calls, and video chats has made the world more compact. Today, I can talk to a friend that may be sitting miles away. It has allowed more human bonds to forge and relationships to not fall apart due to a lack of communication, especially in a pandemic.

With that said, I also understand the value of human touch or being physically around the people you love. Finding this balance between the two is essential.

So, talk to people around you, in your college or office. Reach out to them, exchange your views, celebrate with them, laugh with them, and share your sorrows. Nothing beats having someone around physically. If that's not possible, you can always call and text to fill the void. In my opinion, these communication modes are a boon if used properly.

As the world moves forward, the ways of our communication have evolved. There was a time when we were young and would meet up with our friends in the colony playground every evening. That was how we stayed in the loop with each other's life. Today, that connection is replaced by watching each other's posts on social media platforms.

The  modern forms of communication like texts, calls, emails, and social media have brought the people in our lives closer. Those who live miles away feel next to us when you video call. Technology has allowed us to never lose touch with people we love. Hence, it’s a boon, in my opinion.

With that said, sometimes the line gets blurry. People cancel meeting each other only to watch their friends have fun on the social media posts later. We live more in the curated reality present virtually rather than what we have in the present. This can be dangerous if we lose touch with our lives and those around us.

Virtual connections are a suitable replacement only when there is no choice but to use them more, as in a pandemic or if you cannot leave your house owing to having been sick or similar exceptions. Otherwise, if you do have the access, then going over to meet someone in-person, having a quick chat, a hug, and a shared goodbye is always more meaningful.

So, if I had to pick one mode of communication over the other, I'd choose to be around someone physically unless faced with an event that renders me incapable.

How have the modes of communication evolved?

Ten to fifteen years back, the primary mode of communication was going to someone's house, sitting in their living room while sharing a hot cup of tea as you talk. The idea sounds so simple and lovely. Yet, today, it's no more standard practice. Today, a person has to first call or text another person, make small talk, ask where they are, and then perhaps, make plans to meet each other. The modes of communication have evolved and have made us more distant as much as they have made reaching out more accessible. It's truly ironic.

In the face of modern communication channels, has writing letters lost its meaning?

Letter writing was a primary practice that was prevalent before the advent of technology. People from our parents' generation often wrote letters to each other, giving details of their day and life. Writing down how you feel and sending it to someone close was a personalized act. Texting, on the other hand, lacks the same effect. There are always a few texts lying unread, and the conversations have become superficial. Unfortunately, today, it is the fundamental way of communication, and letter writing is not as prevalent as it used to be a long time ago.

Model Answer 1

In the era of modern technology, people, especially in the workplaces replaces old conservative methods of the communication like face to face meetings, instead utilizing the best of technology like online services, for instance, zoom online app or google meet to contact each other and gather whenever necessary. In my opinion, this is a great achievement and I considered it more advantageous. Also, this essay would demonstrate that its advantages far exceed its disadvantages. ieltsxpress

To begin with, online communication is far more advantageous as it consumes a lot less time as compared to conventional meetings. To cite an example, if an employee is going to attend  the online meeting, he would not have to worry about traffic jams and to polish his shoes or to press his pant because these are hidden from the rest of colleagues. Moreover, this extra time can be utilized to excel in one’s own real work. Furthermore, online gathering is feasible from one own comfort zone and it makes life much easier. For example, people avoid physical interaction in the recent pandemic of COVID-19 and was also able to work from home. This is because of online technology which proves its worth. ieltsxpress.com

Moving forward, some demerits are also associated with online services. Online services require a stable data connection and electricity. Hence, failure of any of these would cause disruption in important talks, and therefore wastage of precious time. Similarly, cybercrime is associated with computer technology thus susceptible to hacker attacks. For example, hackers from some unknown location hacked yahoo data servers which were considered major security threats even to other technological databases.

To conclude, I reiterate that technological  advancements can be proved more beneficial and advantageous in terms of less time expenditure provided that one has a good data connection and secured from hackers.

IELTS Essay on Digital Technology

Model Answer 2

Offices around the world these days are opting to hold meetings online to save both time and money. In my opinion, despite the potential loss of a strong rapport between co-workers, this is a positive considered as a whole.

Critics of these changes often point to its effect on interpersonal relationships in an office. The meeting itself is largely secondary as most information can be communicated just as easily through an online teleconference or an email. True value lies, instead, in the moments before, during and after meetings when colleagues have a chance to socialise or exchange ideas about what they have been working on. This is the reason some companies, famously Apple and Pixar, designed their offices to maximise opportunities for employees to chat with individuals from different departments. The strengthening of social bonds and the sharing of novel perspectives can both boost morale and help drive innovation.

Nonetheless, meeting online is more convenient for employees and saves money for companies. When employees must come in for their work already, many of the benefits listed above are already present and meetings mainly serve as a distraction. Remote workers will also appreciate not having to commute for a short meeting, especially if they have family or other working commitments. Moreover, companies benefit from the time that employees save because it allows them to better allocate their labour towards actual work, thereby increasing efficiency. There are also a range of costs that can be reduced once online communications become standard such as leasing less office space and savings related to office expenses and employee perks. ieltsxpress.com

In conclusion, though communicating online can be detrimental to personal relationships in an office, they offer thoughtful conveniences to employees and help cut costs. Companies ought to shift as much training to online as possible.

Online Communication is Getting More Common Essay

Model Answer 3

Undoubtedly, due to advancement in the modern technology the ways of sharing information have changed. As a result of this, in a number of workplaces the digital way of exchanging ideas is becoming more popular than personal meetings. In this essay, I am going to discuss the reasons why the merits of online communication outweigh the demerits.

To commence with, online communication has numerous advantages from an individual and business point of view. As for the company, businesses need not spend huge amount on the maintenance of the office equipment and the infrastructure. For example, there is no need to rent or lease a place to do face to face communication. From individuals’ point of view, online exchanging of idea is time saving and convenient. Moreover, individuals do not need to travel long distances to reach the workplace. Furthermore, the digital way of communication is the fastest way. There is no need to book a venue or make other arrangements. There is only a need to setup online link to invite employees to attend online meeting. Overall, it is less time consuming and involves low cost as compared to face to face interaction.

Nevertheless, online mode of exchanging ideas involves virtual and technical issues. For instance, in order to attend online meetings, there is a need to have a high quality internet connectivity to get the good quality audio and video. In addition to this, some cyber criminals can hack the sensitive business information and may use it in appropriate manner. ieltsxpress.com

To conclude, the digital way of exchanging idea is the most effective way and it involves less cost compared to face to face meetings. It is fast and convenient. Sometimes technical issues may delay the sharing of information. Even so, in my opinion, the advantages it offers to individuals and companies outweigh the disadvantages.

Online Meetings IELTS Essay

Model Answer 4

Business conferences and training are taking place more and more on online platforms, replacing traditional face-to-face communication and information exchange. This has both benefits and drawbacks in equal measure

The trend seen in companies switching their training activities and business discussions to the online mode has many advantages. First of all, this offers staff increased flexibility and full control of their timetable, which is likely to diminish the unnecessarily high stress levels and thus boost their work productivity. For instance, working mothers find this incredibly helpful for them to multitask between rearing their children and joining meetings to keep abreast of developments in the company. Furthermore, this online mode of operation could help companies economize on expenditure by not having to pay for the electricity bill, printed documents or equipment for carrying out the meeting or training procedures, for instance.

On the other hand, this option has two major drawbacks. Firstly, communication via the internet can be a hindrance as there might be failures in the flow of information. To illustrate, in [country’s name] not many people can afford a high-speed internet connection, and as a consequence, lagging connection or computer crashing can cause disruptions, reducing the comprehension among meeting or training participants. In addition, there is little room for practice, and the lack of direct guidance also prevents people from fully grasping the skills. It would be less productive because employees receiving training cannot apply what they are taught on the internet, or can be clumsy in their actual performance since there is no one to show them whether they are doing it the right way as reality is sometimes completely different from theory. ielts xpress.com

In conclusion, while there are some advantages to staying at home and participating in discussions or training sessions, there are also disadvantages showing that both sides of this development should be carefully viewed.

In man y workplaces online communication is getting more common than meeting face to face Essay

Model Answer 5

Digital Communication in many work organizations is now getting more common instead of the traditional one meeting. I believe this innovation will help in to improve the productivity of every employee and this essay will further elaborate about its advantages and a disadvantage.

World Population are now equipped with gadgets which further helps them in their day to day life, either personal or professional. And the most corporate organization, they are using digital communication via various platforms. For Example, Currently, I am working with an IT Firm and our department is share all kind of information on our Whatsapp group and if necessary they send a video message so everyone can access from anywhere which helps to save the time from face to face meeting and utilize the same into their work.

Moreover, Work organizations are now moving ahead with the Work from the home scenario and conduct an online conference if needed. Such as, My father is a Sales Manager he is performing all his tasks over the laptop and takes zoom sessions with the client to finalize the deal and also update all the information to their boss via zoom meeting which further helps him to more concentrate on work and improve his productivity. However, there are some drawbacks of this development as well, such as a manager or department head are unable to give a personal touch to his employee. For example, one of my friends is associated with a private firm and from the very first day he performs all his tasks from at home and till now he has not met his bosses, Result being he is now lacking motivational and emotional support from his company. ieltsx press.com

All in all, with the use of digital platforms nowadays the majority of workplaces are switch to online communication to save the time of their staff so that they can utilize the same to improve their productivity however there are few drawbacks but these can be manageable.

IELTS Writing Task 2 Technology

Model Answer 6

Digitalization has transformed the 21st century into a magnificent era. A benefit of this shift is the progressive improvisation of communication around the globe. Owing to this, people are getting interacted electronically rather than manually. This trend has an equal number of demerits as well as merits, which are elucidated below.

A bunch of significant advantages of wireless communication is speed, flexibility, and, importantly, cost-effectiveness. To explain in detail, Firstly, modernization has opened new doors of creativity, and one among them is the internet. Due to the ease of accessibility, people tend to bet works, organize meetings, and even perform rituals on the internet. Consequently, instead of conducting a meeting by gathering people, workplaces prefer computer-assisted applications that can be operated with added acceleration. Secondly, international organizations can perform their meticulous tasks and meeting irrespective of their different time zones due to online momentum and availability.

The other edge of this technological advancement is minimal capital investment. For instance, funding for workers can be controlled given meetings. Instead of which a one-time investment of electronic gadgets can be installed that carry out the work effortlessly.

On the flip side, the drawbacks which occur due to this wired communication are many. One such thing is the tone of delivery. To quote an example, English is a flexible language. The content delivered depends on the viewership. Sometimes, the message is wrongly conveyed due to the fault in language. This can be controlled in the face to face communication. Another impediment is the quality of work diminishes when the interaction is just through computers. For example, when a company orders cloth for their clothing industry when they do not test it with touch, and deals are closed online. The end product may vary, eventually leading to the downfall of their business. IELTSXPRESS

To sum up, even though in the millennial era, articulation is merely online, it can be effective through an amalgamative effort of both eyes to the eye as well as electronic operation.

IELTS Essay on Online Communication

Model Answer 7

Digital communication is becoming increasingly prevalent in modern workplaces. While there is a potential for the loss of camaraderie of colleagues, I put forward the notion that the benefits online communication brings for employees and managements outstrip the drawbacks it causes.

Critics of digitalization of workplaces very often point out that online communication erodes natural rapport between colleagues. The absence of physical proximity to co-workers affects a person’s ability to hone their interpersonal competencies, and therefore their ability to cement relationships in significant ways. They go on arguing that workers become isolated and lose their face to face interpersonal skills which ultimately impact negatively on the workplace relationship they have, and thereby impeding work progress. Moreover, “no physical cues” is another demerit of digital communication. In simple words, without gestures and facial expressions or the ability to react instantly, there is a huge risk of misunderstanding.

Despite the potential risk of ruining rapport between colleagues, communicating online is cost-effective for organizations and convenient for employees. This means that it reduces a range of costs such as less leasing office space as well as the remote working facility for employees. Not only is it time and cost-effective, but also communicating online helps reduce our carbon footprint by commuting less, this in turn, ameliorate the environment. A further advantage is increased efficiency and productivity. Put simply, online communication can ensure the flow of information and ease of communication between executives working at different tiers. Visually interactive video-conference, for instance, provides employees and customers with vital images that enable them to interpret and collaborate appropriately over a vast distance. In consequence, decisions are made faster, assignments complete on-time, and productivity increases accordingly.

To conclude, digital communication has come into vogue in the modern workplace and face-to-face meetings are decreasing as a result. Despite some demerits, which we can overcome by being more proactive and engaged in our interactions with our coworkers, this brings huge benefits for workers and employers and streamline the work process.IELTSXPRESS

Well-organized essays will help you score a good band in the IELTS examination. Proper planning is the key to write good essays. You need to give yourself at least 10 minutes to frame the content before you start writing . The essay should contain 4-5 paragraphs and should be of  250 words or more. You have to grasp the central idea from the topic and try to explain it.

Below are some of the recently appeared topics with the sample answers which you can refer to:

Do you think that technological advancement has brought more harm than good?

The twentieth century has seen a vast development in the field of science and technology. This improvement in technology has also raised the standard of living of the people. But it has caused a lot of trouble to the environment. We need to understand its advantages and disadvantages to decide whether it has actually benefitted society.

On one side, we can say that technology has become more beneficial to society,  by facilitating easy communication. It has also improved the economic condition and transport facilities. Organizations have gone online. People are also benefitted through recent technologies like smartphones, laptops and also other electronic appliances. There are applications on smartphones such as “WhatsApp” which has replaced emails. We are able to get a lot of information at the click of a button.

On the other side, technology has certain drawbacks as well. Social connect has become less. There is software that is used to hack the data and there is no privacy for an individual. In a recent study, it is found that the students are neglecting their studies and end up getting poor grades due to recent technologies.

To conclude, we can say that there are more problems due to technological advancements than benefits.

Analysis of the structure of the essay:

Some people argue that technological inventions, such as smartphones, are making people socially less interactive. Discuss both views.

In the current era, you can see people spending more time on smartphones rather than socializing. Wherever you go, you can see people putting their heads down looking into their smartphones and not bothering about what is going on around them. This has become a new trend. As there are a lot of features that are available in smartphones, an individual is not able to stay away from it even for a second. Some features of smartphones are just like the personal computer and they provide a high level of entertainment and can be carried along wherever we go. This essay helps others to understand how smartphone technology impacts society.

The main advantage of a smartphone is that it has made communication easier and quicker. Now you can speak to any of your friends or relatives, in any part of the world. Not only that, but they can also share personal messages, photos, videos through social media.

Along with the benefits, there are also some adverse effects of smartphone addiction on society. The children are not socially active. They sit inside four walls playing games on smartphones and have distanced themselves from society. Even, adults are busy chatting with their friends on social networking sites and have become socially inactive. Even get-togethers have become less. People like to chat on social media more than talking face to face. Even if there are get-togethers, people will be busy with their smartphones instead of interacting with each other. Parents nowadays are busy with smartphones and they fail to attend to their children. Hence the children will be left alone.

To conclude, we can say that smartphones along with its advantages, have also increased the social gap and kept us far from each other.

Many things that used to be done at home by hands are now being done by machines. Discuss.

Technology is growing day by day. Many household works that were done manually earlier have been replaced by machines and can be completed automatically. This development has benefitted people a lot. This essay will explain how technology has helped people in different ways at home.

Man has invented many machines which can do most of the household work automatically such as; dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, the washing machine and so on. With the invention of these machines, women get a lot of leisure. And also this advancement has helped women in improving their standard of living. They will get more time to focus on their career.

Along with the advantages there are also some disadvantages that go with the situation. By the invention of different types of machinery, people are fully dependent on them. Previously, people used to do all the household work manually and stayed fit. But the advancement in technology has made people lazy. There is no physical involvement in household activities

To sum up, technology has made people more dependent on machines for household activities. Also, the advantage is that women can invest more time more on their careers and children rather than doing household chores.
