Pokemon Go Field Research tasks & rewards for June 2024

pokemon go audino header

If you’re looking for a roundup of all the Pokemon Go Field Research tasks in June 2024, we’ve broken them down into categories, alongside details of the Research Breakthrough rewards you can earn.

Field Research is a long-running feature in Pokemon Go that gives Trainers a variety of tasks to complete to earn rewards. Completing seven tasks over seven days will result in a Research Breakthrough, which is a guaranteed encounter with a desirable Pokemon.

These Field Research tasks incorporate various elements of gameplay. Some will ask you to catch different types of Pokemon, others require you to take part in Raid Battles , and a few will task you with earning Candies or Hearts with your Buddy .

For June 2024, Trainers can earn an encounter with Hisuian Growlithe, Larvitar, Audino, Axew, Furfrou, and Jangmo-o as a Research Breakthrough. These are quite rare creatures in Pokemon Go, so it’s worth catching as many as possible during the Shared Skies season festivities.

What is Field Research in Pokemon Go?

Field Research is a series of tasks that are obtained by spinning a PokeStop or Gym . Players looking to rack up rewards will have to travel as they are only able to complete one task a day for each location.

Each task contains an objective, and trainers are given a reward for achieving it. Rewards can range from items like Poke Balls to encounters with specific Pokemon, which you can see in the tables above.

To unlock a Research Breakthrough and get an encounter with the current month’s Pokemon, you’ll need to complete one Field Research task every day for seven days . The good news is they don’t have to be consecutive days, so you could do this over the space of a month if you wanted to.

Once you’ve completed a task, make sure you claim the reward on the Field Research progress page to earn a stamp. You can only earn one stamp per day, but completed tasks can be saved up and claimed at a later date to earn a stamp.

Once seven stamps have been earned, you can claim your Research Breakthrough reward by opening the package that appears at the top of the Field Research progress page.

How to get a Research Breakthrough in Pokemon Go

There are six potential Research Breakthrough encounters in June: Hisuian Growlithe, Larvitar, Audino, Axew, Furfrou, Jangmo-o They will be rewarded randomly, so you can’t predict which Pokemon you’ll get.

You’ll need to earn your seventh Field Research stamp and claim your big reward before the end of the season if you want to get one of these Pokemon, as a different set of rewards could take over then.

If you earn a stamp every day in June, you’ll be able to earn up to four Research Breakthroughs, meaning you’ll get the chance to catch four of these Pokemon, which is a great way to stock up on Candy.

According to the official season hub for Pokemon Go’s Shared Skies season, all of the Pokemon listed as Research Breakthrough rewards are available to get in Shiny forms, making them perfect targets for players who value rare and hard-to-get ‘mons.

Field Research Breakthrough Shiny rates

Just like most species, Pokemon encounters from Field Research and Breakthrough rewards have a Shiny rate of around 1 in 450 . While not the best odds, it’s still better than most of the mainline RPGs.

If you want to increase your chances of finding a Shiny variation, make sure you don’t miss a single day of Field Research, as you’ll be able to get up to four Research Breakthrough encounters this way.

Special Research List

Special Research Lines come in two main flavors: Unlimited and Limited. Unlimited lines unlock at specific points in the game, and  are available to complete at the player's leisure. Limited lines have specific requirements to unlock such as playing during a specific time period, and may or may not have a time-limit.

Unlimited Special Research

research tasks july 2023 pokemon go

Research System Breakdown

Research Tasks are divided into four categories:

  • Field Research - Single-objective goals such as spinning PokeStops and catching Pokemon that reward items and one "stamp" (1 per day). These are the tasks outlined above.
  • Special Research - Story based multi-objective goals such as catching and transferring Pokemon that have unknown rewards
  • Paid Research  - Similar to Special Research, but a ticket must be purchased in order to actually enjoy these Research lines. These are frequently tied to events or seasons.
  • Research Breakthrough - Rewards based on collecting stamps that reward Stardust, items, and a Pokemon encounter.

Task Mechanics

A trainer can hold up to 3 tasks at a time, 4 including an AR task. Also, trainers can trash a task if they do not want to try to complete it.

Trainers receive tasks from spinning PokeStops, and each Pokestop gives the same task to all trainers during the day. If the reward is an encounter, all trainers receive the same species (though IVs will differ). If you get a task on Monday from a stop and don’t clear it until Tuesday, you will not be able to get a task from that same PokeStop on Tuesday as once you receive a task, you will not receive another one from that PokeStop. However, if you delete a task, you can go back to that stop later in the day to get it again.

Various events frequently have their own unique set of tasks with event-themed rewards. Community Days in particular bend the Research rule a bit, as the research assigned to each Stop for the day changes to Community Day-themed research for the duration of the event, and revert back to normal after the event. Note that completing research from a given stop at any point during a given day will cause it to remain claimed for the rest of said day regardless of event-themed task changes.

Tasks give a variety of rewards, often based on the challenge you had to complete. Rewards can be encounters, Stardust, or items such as balls, potions, revives, TMs, and Rare Candy. Generally, more difficult tasks will have higher rewards.

Encounters from tasks are level 15 Pokemon with IVs of at least 10 in all 3 stats. After clearing an encounter task, you will be taken to the encounter. The Pokemon will not be weather boosted regardless of the in-game weather. You can run from the encounter and come back to it in the future.

Once you clear an encounter task, you can immediately collect a new task. Interestingly enough, you can save a large number of encounters! Some trainers do this and choose to catch them during a Lucky Egg or Star Piece session.

Each day when you complete your first task, you receive a Research Stamp. When you have 7 stamps, you will receive a Research Breakthrough.

Research Breakthrough rewards change each season.

General Tips

Special research tasks do not give a daily stamp - only field research does Minimum level for Special Research is level 5 Pokemon encounters appear to be at level Many players have a “refill loop” or “grind loop” of stops and gyms in their PoGo lives, often one they hit multiple times each day.. If you have the option, add a second loop. Having multiple loops will greatly increase the number of tasks seen Try to keep one open task so you can always pick a new one up when you visit a Pokestop for the first time in a day. Find a network of players to report tasks, perhaps through your raid chat of choice. You won’t be able to check every stop, so if people call out TM, Rare Candy or Chansey quests it can really help. Some communities have focused on calling out Charmander encounter quests. This is a great way to farm high IV Pokemon before a community day. Some encounters have very large hit-boxes. Save these for when you are working on a 3 excellent or 3 great throw in a row quest. Try not to hold more than 1 long term quest. Remember there is an opportunity cost to holding 3 “Catch a Ditto for 3 Rare Candy” tasks. Obviously the payoff is awesome, but in the meantime you are missing out on so many other potential rewards from other tasks you cannot get. Don’t miss a day of Research Progress. If you don’t think you can play much tomorrow, leave one task unclaimed today. Tomorrow you can wake up, claim the task, and make progress towards your Research Breakthrough. Consider weather, biome, and active events when deciding whether to keep or delete a task. You likely aren’t going to quickly complete the “3 Pidgey or Murkrow” task on a sunny day during a rock event, but you should blow through “catch 5 Pokemon with Weather Boost” on a cloudy day during a fighting event. If you don’t throw excellents well, it’s not the end of the world to toss a task requiring an excellent throw. Holding on to tasks without substantial rewards for a long period of time is a big mistake. In general, take your playstyle into account when deciding to keep or delete a task. Do you battle gyms constantly? Then the Minium task isn’t bad as you will quickly turn it over. Did you already use your raid pass for the day? Then don’t hold on to that “Defeat a level 3 raid for some potions” type tasks. Free to play? Then the hatch 3 eggs” quest is probably an easy one to delete. Have a task that you know you cannot complete quickly at a stop near your house? Well trash that task while you grind. Then as you return home you can grab it later in the day. That way you can cycle through more tasks without it clogging your inventory. Remember that reward encounters and the Research Breakthrough reward have a 0% flee rate. Use pinaps liberally! Keep track of local nests. “Catch 3 Bugs” is much easier when you know there is a Caterpie nest a couple blocks away.

July is here, which means there's a new month of  Pokemon GO Field Research tasks to complete and rewards to earn (including a new Breakthrough ). Information is still being gathered, but trainers already know enough to put together some preliminary intel.

Pokemon GO trainers should be able to gather enough data in the next day or two to know every Field Research task and possible reward available, but there's already plenty of information to start digesting. This month has a lot of repeat tasks showing up, but there are still some exciting new ones, as well.

Even if the Field tasks encounters aren't all that exciting, the Body Slam Snorlax will still provide enough motivation to stay active during this month of big events .

Stay tuned for updates and new information. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

What is Research in Pokémon GO?

Research is a feature in Pokémon GO that gives Trainers the opportunity to help Professor Willow with his Pokémon Research. Completing a Research Task will unlock rewards. The more challenging a task, the greater the reward will be.

There are two types of Research you can contribute to: Field Research and Special Research .

What is Field Research ?

Field Research tasks are assigned/collected by spinning PokéStops. Trainers can only receive and complete one task from each PokéStop each day. Tasks are the same for all trainers on a given day so you can share PokéStop locations for a desirable task with others in your community.

The task will consist of an objective and a reward for completing it. Rewards range from Items to Pokémon encounters. If the task awards items, it will disclose what item and quantity on the task itself. If it’s an encounter, it won’t. Instead you can refer to the handy graphic on this page.

The first Field Research task you complete for a day will reward you with a Stamp towards unlocking a Research Breakthrough .

How do I unlock a Research Breakthrough ?

You can unlock a Research Breakthrough by collect 7 Stamps. Again, Stamps are obtained from your first completed Field Research task for the day. Unlike the ‘First PokéStop of the Day’ or ‘First Catch of the Day’ streaks, you do not need to collect Stamps on consecutive days. You won’t ever lose stamps you earned because you missed a day.

Upon reaching 7 Stamps, you can open the box and earn a handful of helpful Rewards. Rewards will consist of a Pokémon encounter, XP, Stardust and will include one of the following items: Rare Candy, Pinap Berries, Ultra Balls, or Poké Balls.

What is Special Research ?

Special Research is like Field Research but they can be thought of as part of the game’s Story. Like Field Research they consist of tasks that you work through to earn Rewards. However in Special Research completing a set of task will earn you additional rewards. Completing all sets of tasks in the series will earn you a more valuable reward. eg. A Mythical Pokémon encounter.

While, Trainers cannot repeat Special Research tasks, Professor Willow will occasionally seek assistance with new tasks. Special Research can also be assigned at Special Events like GO Fest in Chicago or during in-game Events like Pokémon GO Halloween 2018.

What are the CP numbers next to the Pokémon in the graphic?

That is the range of possible CPs that your Pokémon encounter could be. The highest is Perfect IVs and the lowest is not so perfect IVs.

What is the Sparkle next to some Pokémon in the graphic?

The sparkle indicates that there is a chance of encountering that Pokémon in their Shiny form. The chance of encountering a Shiny from a Field Research task is 1 in 450. However they could possibly be higher for certain encounters (eg. Absol).

Pokemon Go July Field Research Tasks And Breakthrough Reward

New Field Research tasks are now live in Pokemon Go; here's the full updated list along with July's new Research Breakthrough reward.

By Kevin Knezevic on July 21, 2020 at 7:20AM PDT

July is here, and it's another busy month for Pokemon Go . On top of all the in-game events Niantic has lined up over the next few weeks, a new batch of Field Research tasks is now live, and if you complete enough of them, you'll earn a new Research Breakthrough reward: Larvitar.

Each time you achieve a Research Breakthrough in July, your reward will be an encounter with Larvitar, the base form of the powerful Tyranitar. There's also a chance that the Larvitar you encounter will be Shiny, so there's a good incentive to complete as much Field Research as you can this month.

As a refresher, Field Research tasks are distributed via Poke Stops. The first one you complete each day will net you a stamp, and collecting seven stamps will lead to a Research Breakthrough. You can see the full list of July's Field Research tasks, as compiled by The Silph Road , below.

There's a lot going on in Pokemon Go this month. Pokemon Go Fest 2020 takes place on July 25 and 26, and before then, Niantic is holding a series of weekly challenges that players can complete to unlock additional Pokemon during Go Fest weekend. The Legendary Kyurem is also making its debut in Pokemon Go this month, and Gastly is headlining July's Community Day .

Pokémon Go Spinda quest for June, all Spinda forms listed

How to catch the elusive Spinda in Pokémon Go.

Spinda in Pokémon Go was one of many 'missing' Gen 3 Pokémon creatures from the game, until it arrived in the summer of 2018.

Spinda is one of the most unique Pokémon in the entire series. Though the Normal-Type rabbit-like creature isn't particularly competent in battle, or evolves into anything unique, the pattern on its body is different with every catch - with over four billion possibilities touted in the main games.

Pokémon Go doesn't offer this variation, and instead offers nine Spinda forms to try and find.

On this page:

How to get Spinda in Pokémon Go this month

Pokémon go spinda forms list.

What makes Spinda so interesting to catch is that it's the very first Pokémon to debut exclusively through the Field Research feature.

Once you find the specific Field Research and complete it, Spinda will be available to catch.

research tasks july 2023 pokemon go

Each month, the Field Research you need to find changes. For June 2024, the quest is Five Great Curveball Throws in a Row with the reward being Spinda form 7.

Once you have the task, then it's time to land a Curveball. Our Curveballs page can help if you're struggling with this throw type, but in short, you must spin the ball and land it in the circle. Take your time and wait until after an attack increase your chances.

If you're struggling, then attempting to catch a Legendary Pokémon from a Legendary raid - which usually have larger hit circles - might help.

After that, Spinda will appear when you claim the Field Research reward. Spinda, like other Field Research reward catches, won't run away, so take your time in catching it, and even consider using a Pinap Berry to increase the amount of Spinda Candy you earn.

Where to find the Spinda Field Research in Pokémon Go

With the many Field Research variants out there, the Spinda quest could take a while to hunt down. Remember, once you have spun a PokéStop and collected a Field Research task, you can delete it and spin another, so keep exploring until you find it.

Additionally, remember that each PokéStop is assigned a specific Field Research task every day for every player.

So if you can learn which one that is from a friend or someone in the Pokémon Go community, then that can make life easier.

Spinda quests have become increasingly hard to find, but with a month to find each form, you should be able to get one before the month's out.

The Shared Skies Season is here! Don't forget to try out Routes , Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon , fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases .

As mentioned, in the main games, there are apparently billions of Spinda forms, due to the way they create new patterns for each catch.

In Pokémon Go, things are a little easier, with just nine forms to catch.

Each month offers a different form to collect, though from June 2019, the forms are cycling back around again, allowing you to catch ones you previously missed.

Additionally, from June 2019, each newly-released Spinda form has the chance to be a shiny .

Form Availability
1 October 2018, November and December 2019, January, February, 2021, October 2021, July 2022, March 2023, April 2023, December 2023
2 March to April 2019, September and October 2020, November 2021, August 2022, May 2023, January 2024
3 September 2018, September 2019, April 2021, December 2021, September 2022, June 2023, February 2024
4 May to June 2019, November and December 2020, May 2021, January, February and October 2022, July 2023, March 2024
5 January to February 2019, June, July and August 2020, June 2021, March and November 2022, August 2023, April 2024
6 December 2018, March 2020, July 2021, April 2022, December 2022, September 2023, May 2024
7 November 2018, January, February and May 2020, August 2021, May 2022, January 2023, October 2023, June 2024
8 August 2018, July 2019, April 2020, March 2021, September 2021, June 2022, February 2023, November 2023
9 Valentine's Day event 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024

That's every form available right now - if you missed one, wait until it comes round again, or see if a friend has one to trade.

As time goes on, more Spinda might be released - there is room in the Pokedex for 20 (!), so it's very likely. When or how, however, we don't know.

But for now, expect them to rotate through Field Research every month or two.
