Fashion and Reasons to Love It Essay

Obviously, nobody will deny that these days fashion became an inseparable part of every person’s life. In addition, the media constantly support our desire to look glamorous, popularizing a fashionable way of life. Moreover, looking good, we feel much better and confident. Isn’t it a reason to love fashion? Furthermore, what are the most important accessories that every woman loses her ground when seeing them? They are bags, hats, and certainly jewelry.

These accessories play an important role in making women beautiful. They help us create our own style and express our individuality. It is probably one of the most important reasons to love fashion. One more reason to love fashion lies in the fact that people love beautiful things, especially women. Nice things bring us aesthetical pleasure. Thus, there are hundreds of reasons to love fashion; however, let me present three major reasons why I love fashionable bags, shoes, and jewelry.

A bag can say a lot about its owner. We can easily find out what style a woman prefers, what her treats of character are, and how many things she takes with herself. Why I love fashionable bags? Well, first of all, I cannot live without a bag. I should take many important things with myself, and where should I put them? Of course, in my marvelous bag. The second reason for me to love bags is that my bag is a very important part of my image.

Actually, it seems to me that the image is incomplete without a bag. For example, when you go to some party, you always pay special attention to your bag go well with your shoes. Finally, my bag is my personality. Having a good bag, I can demonstrate my taste and sense of fashion. A perfectly designed bag shows that I am a part of the fashion industry, and I go with the times.

An elegant fashion hat is a piece of masterpiece. Have you ever noticed what great attention Hollywood celebrities pay to their hats? The hat is an accessory that adds elegance, chic, and glamour. Apart from the practical usage (protection from cold weather, rain, sun, and wind), I often use different types of hats to complete the image. For example, I can wear a cap with sneakers. The second reason why I love hats is that it adds a touch of elegance to every one of my images. It is a part of clothing that can make my style unique and enigmatic. In addition, it is an indicator of social status. So, you can play any part you want: a lady, a cute girl, a glamorous thing. Finally, my hat can demonstrate my creativity. I can always add some detail that will make me look different from others.

It goes without saying that every girl likes jewelry. I like adding jewelry to my clothes because it enhances the entire look of my clothing. Imagine a black dress with a tiny pearl necklace and without it. The first variant is certainly better. The second reason why I love jewelry is that it is a perfect means to attract attention. A nice manicure looks even better when you have a ring on your finger. Finally, the spiritual value of some ring or bracelet can be a good reason to wear it. For example, I believe that earrings that my grandmother gave me bring me luck. This is why I never take them off. Once, I even avoided a terrible road accident. I believe that my earrings saved me.

Thus, fashion is a part of our life. We love fashion, and we admire it. Different articles are important pieces that complete a fashionable image. People prefer different accessories. As for me, I like bags, hats, and jewelry. I believe that these accessories help me creating my own style, complete my image, and make me feel more confident. I am very serious about which bag, hat or ring I am going to wear every day.

Why fashion is my passion, finding your true passion.

Why Fashion Is My Passion

Why I found my true passion in fashion:

Ever since I was little I remember having the cutest clothes and matching everything together. I found it infatuating to find things that matched an outfit or paired stuff together so that it would contrast.

When I was about 7 years old, my mom had a Vogue magazine on the kitchen table and I had looked through it and I don't think I ever let go of that Vogue magazine, lol. I was so inspired by runway fashion, by casual fashion, and just the luxurious picture of it all. So after that, my obsession with fashion in magazines didn't stop there--it only grew stronger .

In middle school, at about 13 years old, I subscribed to Seventeen and was reading Seventeen articles and rel ating to them and it was almost like a hobby. I would get inspiration from them and learn about brands or new trendy fashions and read articles that were about easy money or boys. It became part of my lifestyle.

In high school, I started following all these fashion blogs on Twitter and Instagram and would get inspiration from them as well as magazines. I also dressed up a lot in high school because that was a part of me and my aesthetic. You could say I had a unique style, lol.

Then, in high school, while looking at colleges, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. At first, I wanted to do dentistry. Then, I looked at USD and their dental hygiene program. I finally came across Iowa State and their Apparel Merchandising and Design program, went on a visit, and that's when I knew.

I've come pretty far since that day, while also being involved in everything my freshman year of college, to going to Italy and finding my true passion for fashion my sophomore year, to applying for internships currently, and graduating early in December of next year, hopefully pursuing a career in the fashion industry.

I've learned a lot along the way about the industry, about finding inspiration, and about making different boards and projects. It's truly something I love to do, and it is my true passion.

19 lessons i'll never forget from growing up in a small town, there have been many lessons learned..

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

1. The importance of traditions.

Sometimes traditions seem like a silly thing, but the fact of it is that it's part of who you are. You grew up this way and, more than likely, so did your parents. It is something that is part of your family history and that is more important than anything.

2. How to be thankful for family and friends.

No matter how many times they get on your nerves or make you mad, they are the ones who will always be there and you should never take that for granted.

3. How to give back.

When tragedy strikes in a small town, everyone feels obligated to help out because, whether directly or indirectly, it affects you too. It is easy in a bigger city to be able to disconnect from certain problems. But in a small town those problems affect everyone.

4. What the word "community" really means.

Along the same lines as #3, everyone is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand when you need one in a small town and to me that is the true meaning of community. It's working together to build a better atmosphere, being there to raise each other up, build each other up, and pick each other up when someone is in need. A small town community is full of endless support whether it be after a tragedy or at a hometown sports game. Everyone shows up to show their support.

5. That it isn't about the destination, but the journey.

People say this to others all the time, but it takes on a whole new meaning in a small town. It is true that life is about the journey, but when you're from a small town, you know it's about the journey because the journey probably takes longer than you spend at the destination. Everything is so far away that it is totally normal to spend a couple hours in the car on your way to some form of entertainment. And most of the time, you're gonna have as many, if not more, memories and laughs on the journey than at the destination.

6. The consequences of making bad choices.

Word travels fast in a small town, so don't think you're gonna get away with anything. In fact, your parents probably know what you did before you even have a chance to get home and tell them. And forget about being scared of what your teacher, principle, or other authority figure is going to do, you're more afraid of what your parents are gonna do when you get home.

7. To trust people, until you have a reason not to.

Everyone deserves a chance. Most people don't have ill-intentions and you can't live your life guarding against every one else just because a few people in your life have betrayed your trust.

8. To be welcoming and accepting of everyone.

While small towns are not always extremely diverse, they do contain people with a lot of different stories, struggle, and backgrounds. In a small town, it is pretty hard to exclude anyone because of who they are or what they come from because there aren't many people to choose from. A small town teaches you that just because someone isn't the same as you, doesn't mean you can't be great friends.

9. How to be my own, individual person.

In a small town, you learn that it's okay to be who you are and do your own thing. You learn that confidence isn't how beautiful you are or how much money you have, it's who you are on the inside.

10. How to work for what I want.

Nothing comes easy in life. They always say "gardens don't grow overnight" and if you're from a small town you know this both figuratively and literally. You certainly know gardens don't grow overnight because you've worked in a garden or two. But you also know that to get to the place you want to be in life it takes work and effort. It doesn't just happen because you want it to.

11. How to be great at giving directions.

If you're from a small town, you know that you will probably only meet a handful of people in your life who ACTUALLY know where your town is. And forget about the people who accidentally enter into your town because of google maps. You've gotten really good at giving them directions right back to the interstate.

12. How to be humble.

My small town has definitely taught me how to be humble. It isn't always about you, and anyone who grows up in a small town knows that. Everyone gets their moment in the spotlight, and since there's so few of us, we're probably best friends with everyone so we are as excited when they get their moment of fame as we are when we get ours.

13. To be well-rounded.

Going to a small town high school definitely made me well-rounded. There isn't enough kids in the school to fill up all the clubs and sports teams individually so be ready to be a part of them all.

14. How to be great at conflict resolution.

In a small town, good luck holding a grudge. In a bigger city you can just avoid a person you don't like or who you've had problems with. But not in a small town. You better resolve the issue fast because you're bound to see them at least 5 times a week.

15. The beauty of getting outside and exploring.

One of my favorite things about growing up in a rural area was being able to go outside and go exploring and not have to worry about being in danger. There is nothing more exciting then finding a new place somewhere in town or in the woods and just spending time there enjoying the natural beauty around you.

16. To be prepared for anything.

You never know what may happen. If you get a flat tire, you better know how to change it yourself because you never know if you will be able to get ahold of someone else to come fix it. Mechanics might be too busy , or more than likely you won't even have enough cell service to call one.

17. That you don't always have to do it alone.

It's okay to ask for help. One thing I realized when I moved away from my town for college, was how much my town has taught me that I could ask for help is I needed it. I got into a couple situations outside of my town where I couldn't find anyone to help me and found myself thinking, if I was in my town there would be tons of people ready to help me. And even though I couldn't find anyone to help, you better believe I wasn't afraid to ask.

18. How to be creative.

When you're at least an hour away from normal forms of entertainment such as movie theaters and malls, you learn to get real creative in entertaining yourself. Whether it be a night looking at the stars in the bed of a pickup truck or having a movie marathon in a blanket fort at home, you know how to make your own good time.

19. To brush off gossip.

It's all about knowing the person you are and not letting others influence your opinion of yourself. In small towns, there is plenty of gossip. But as long as you know who you really are, it will always blow over.

Grateful Beyond Words: A Letter to My Inspiration

I have never been so thankful to know you..

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

You have taught me that you don't always have to strong. You are allowed to break down as long as you pick yourself back up and keep moving forward. When life had you at your worst moments, you allowed your friends to be there for you and to help you. You let them in and they helped pick you up. Even in your darkest hour you showed so much strength. I know that you don't believe in yourself as much as you should but you are unbelievably strong and capable of anything you set your mind to.

Your passion to make a difference in the world is unbelievable. You put your heart and soul into your endeavors and surpass any personal goal you could have set. Watching you do what you love and watching you make a difference in the lives of others is an incredible experience. The way your face lights up when you finally realize what you have accomplished is breathtaking and I hope that one day I can have just as much passion you have.

I see the way you smile when you are around family and I wish I could see you smile like this everyday. You love with all your heart and this quality is something I wished I possessed.

You inspire me to be the best version of myself. I look up to you. I feel that more people should strive to have the strength and passion that you exemplify in everyday life. You may be stubborn at points but when you really need help you let others in, which shows strength in itself. I have never been more proud to know someone and to call someone my role model. You have taught me so many things and I want to thank you. Thank you for inspiring me in life. Thank you for making me want to be a better person.

Waitlisted for a College Class? Here's What to Do!

Dealing with the inevitable realities of college life..

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Don't freak out

This is a rule you should continue to follow no matter what you do in life, but is especially helpful in this situation.

Email the professor

Around this time, professors are getting flooded with requests from students wanting to get into full classes. This doesn't mean you shouldn't burden them with your email; it means they are expecting interested students to email them. Send a short, concise message telling them that you are interested in the class and ask if there would be any chance for you to get in.

Attend the first class

Often, the advice professors will give you when they reply to your email is to attend the first class. The first class isn't the most important class in terms of what will be taught. However, attending the first class means you are serious about taking the course and aren't going to give up on it.

Keep attending class

Every student is in the same position as you are. They registered for more classes than they want to take and are "shopping." For the first couple of weeks, you can drop or add classes as you please, which means that classes that were once full will have spaces. If you keep attending class and keep up with assignments, odds are that you will have priority. Professors give preference to people who need the class for a major and then from higher to lower class year (senior to freshman).

Have a backup plan

For two weeks, or until I find out whether I get into my waitlisted class, I will be attending more than the usual number of classes. This is so that if I don't get into my waitlisted class, I won't have a credit shortage and I won't have to fall back in my backup class. Chances are that enough people will drop the class, especially if it is very difficult like computer science, and you will have a chance. In popular classes like art and psychology, odds are you probably won't get in, so prepare for that.

Remember that everything works out at the end

Life is full of surprises. So what if you didn't get into the class you wanted? Your life obviously has something else in store for you. It's your job to make sure you make the best out of what you have.

Navigating the Talking Stage: 21 Essential Questions to Ask for Connection

It's mandatory to have these conversations..

Whether you met your new love interest online , through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

1. What do you do for a living?

What someone does for a living can tell a lot about who they are and what they're interested in! Their career reveals a lot more about them than just where they spend their time to make some money.

2. What's your favorite color?

OK, I get it, this seems like something you would ask a Kindergarten class, but I feel like it's always good to know someone's favorite color . You could always send them that Snapchat featuring you in that cute shirt you have that just so happens to be in their favorite color!

3. Do you have any siblings?

This one is actually super important because it's totally true that people grow up with different roles and responsibilities based on where they fall in the order. You can tell a lot about someone just based on this seemingly simple question.

4. What's your favorite television show?

OK, maybe this isn't a super important question, but you have to know ASAP if you can quote Michael Scott or not. If not, he probably isn't the one. Sorry, girl.

5. When is your birthday?

You can then proceed to do the thing that every girl does without admitting it and see how compatible your zodiacs are.

6. What's your biggest goal in life?

If you're like me, you have big goals that you want to reach someday, and you want a man behind you who also has big goals and understands what it's like to chase after a dream. If his biggest goal is to see how quickly he can binge-watch " Grey's Anatomy " on Netflix , you may want to move on.

7. If you had three wishes granted to you by a genie, what would they be?

This is a go-to for an insight into their personality. Based on how they answer, you can tell if they're goofy, serious, or somewhere in between.

8. What's your favorite childhood memory?

For some, this may be a hard question if it involves a family member or friend who has since passed away . For others, it may revolve around a tradition that no longer happens. The answers to this question are almost endless!

9. If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

We all have parts of our lives and stories that we wish we could change. It's human nature to make mistakes. This question is a little bit more personal but can really build up the trust level.

10. Are you a cat or a dog person?

I mean, duh! If you're a dog person, and he is a cat person, it's not going to work out.

11. Do you believe in a religion or any sort of spiritual power?

Personally, I am a Christian, and as a result, I want to be with someone who shares those same values. I know some people will argue that this question is too much in the talking stage , but why go beyond the talking stage if your personal values will never line up?

12. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Even homebodies have a must visit place on their bucket list !

13. What is your ideal date night?

Hey, if you're going to go for it... go for it!

14. Who was/is your celebrity crush?

For me, it was hands-down Nick Jonas . This is always a fun question to ask!

15. What's a good way to cheer you up if you're having a bad day?

Let's be real, if you put a label on it, you're not going to see your significant other at their best 24/7.

16. Do you have any tattoos?

This can lead to some really good conversations, especially if they have a tattoo that has a lot of meaning to them!

17. Can you describe yourself in three words?

It's always interesting to see if how the person you're talking to views their personal traits lines ups with the vibes you're getting.

18. What makes you the most nervous in life?

This question can go multiple different directions, and it could also be a launching pad for other conversations.

19. What's the best gift you have ever received?

Admittedly, I have asked this question to friends as well, but it's neat to see what people value.

20. What do you do to relax/have fun?

Work hard, play hard, right?

21. What are your priorities at this phase of your life?

This is always interesting because no matter how compatible your personalities may be, if one of you wants to be serious and the other is looking for something casual, it's just not going to work.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in challah bread or easter bread.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

A few weeks ago, I was given a loaf of bread called Challah (pronounced like holla), and upon my first bite, I realized it tasted just like Easter Bread. It was so delicious that I just had to make some of my own, which I did.

The recipe is as follows:

Ingredients

2 tsp active dry or instant yeast 1 cup lukewarm water 4 to 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup white granulated sugar 2 tsp salt 2 large eggs 1 large egg yolk (reserve the white for the egg wash) 1/4 cup neutral-flavored vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Combine yeast and a pinch of sugar in small bowl with the water and stir until you see a frothy layer across the top.
  • Whisk together 4 cups of the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  • Make a well in the center of the flour and add in eggs, egg yolk, and oil. Whisk these together to form a slurry, pulling in a little flour from the sides of the bowl.
  • Pour the yeast mixture over the egg slurry and mix until difficult to move.
  • Turn out the dough onto a floured work surface and knead by hand for about 10 minutes. If the dough seems very sticky, add flour a teaspoon at a time until it feels tacky, but no longer like bubblegum. The dough has finished kneading when it is soft, smooth, and holds a ball-shape.
  • Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and place somewhere warm. Let the dough rise 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  • Separate the dough into four pieces. Roll each piece of dough into a long rope roughly 1-inch thick and 16 inches long.
  • Gather the ropes and squeeze them together at the very top. Braid the pieces in the pattern of over, under, and over again. Pinch the pieces together again at the bottom.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment and lift the loaf on top. Sprinkle the loaf with a little flour and drape it with a clean dishcloth. Place the pan somewhere warm and away from drafts and let it rise until puffed and pillowy, about an hour.
  • Heat the oven to 350°F. Whisk the reserved egg white with a tablespoon of water and brush it all over the challah. Be sure to get in the cracks and down the sides of the loaf.
  • Slide the challah on its baking sheet into the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through cooking. The challah is done when it is deeply browned.

I kept wondering how these two breads could be so similar in taste. So I decided to look up a recipe for Easter Bread to make a comparison. The two are almost exactly the same! These recipes are similar because they come from religious backgrounds. The Jewish Challah bread is based on kosher dietary laws. The Christian Easter Bread comes from the Jewish tradition but was modified over time because they did not follow kosher dietary laws.

A recipe for Easter bread is as follows:

2 tsp active dry or instant yeast 2/3 cup milk 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 cup white granulated sugar 2 tbs butter 2 large eggs 2 tbs melted butter 1 tsp salt

  • In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, sugar, salt, and yeast; stir well. Combine milk and butter in a small saucepan; heat until milk is warm and butter is softened but not melted.
  • Gradually add the milk and butter to the flour mixture; stirring constantly. Add two eggs and 1/2 cup flour; beat well. Add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  • Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
  • Deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into two equal size rounds; cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Roll each round into a long roll about 36 inches long and 1 1/2 inches thick. Using the two long pieces of dough, form a loosely braided ring, leaving spaces for the five colored eggs. Seal the ends of the ring together and use your fingers to slide the eggs between the braids of dough.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place loaf on a buttered baking sheet and cover loosely with a damp towel. Place loaf in a warm place and let rise until doubled in bulk, about 45 minutes. Brush risen loaf with melted butter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 30 minutes.

Both of these recipes are really easy to make. While you might need to have a day set aside for this activity, you can do things while the dough is rising or in the oven. After only a few hours, you have a delicious loaf of bread that you made from scratch, so the time and effort is really worth it!

Discovering Fashion: A Journey into My Passion

From a young age, I have always been captivated by the world of fashion. The allure of stylish clothes, unique accessories, and the ability to express oneself through clothing has always fascinated me. As I grew older, my interest in fashion only intensified, leading to a deep passion that now defines a significant part of my life.

The Power of Personal Style

One of the reasons why fashion has become my passion is the power it holds in shaping personal style. Fashion allows individuals to showcase their personality, creativity, and mood through the clothes they wear. It is a form of self-expression that transcends words and speaks volumes about who we are as individuals.

The Artistry and Creativity Behind Fashion

Another aspect that fuels my passion for fashion is the artistry and creativity involved in the industry. Fashion designers are true artists, creating masterpieces that are not only functional but also visually stunning. The ability to transform fabric into a work of art and create stunning designs that make people feel confident and beautiful is truly awe-inspiring.

Exploring the Ever-Evolving Fashion Trends

One of the things I love most about fashion is its ever-evolving nature. Trends come and go, allowing for constant exploration and experimentation. Whether it’s diving into the latest runway looks or reimagining vintage styles, the dynamic nature of fashion keeps me engaged and excited to discover new trends and fashion movements.

Fashion as a Reflection of Society

Fashion is not just about clothes; it is a reflection of society and culture. Fashion has the power to challenge norms, break boundaries, and make powerful statements. From gender-neutral fashion to sustainable and ethical practices, fashion has the ability to drive change and make a positive impact on the world.

Fashion as an Outlet for Confidence and Self-Expression

For me, fashion is more than just a hobby; it is an outlet for confidence and self-expression. The right outfit has the power to boost my mood, enhance my self-esteem, and make me feel like the best version of myself. Fashion allows me to embrace my unique style and showcase my individuality to the world.

The Thrill of Fashion Exploration

One of the things that excites me most about fashion is the endless possibilities it offers. From exploring different styles, colors, and patterns to experimenting with different combinations, fashion is a never-ending journey of self-discovery. The thrill of finding the perfect outfit or discovering a new fashion trend is unmatched.

Fashion as a Form of Inspiration

Fashion has the power to inspire and ignite creativity. The intricate details, bold designs, and innovative concepts found in fashion collections often spark inspiration in other areas of my life. From art and design to photography and writing, fashion serves as a constant source of inspiration and fuels my creative endeavors.

The Importance of Fashion in History

Another reason why fashion has become my passion is its significant role in history. Fashion has always been intertwined with cultural and social movements, reflecting the values and beliefs of different eras. By studying fashion history, I gain a deeper understanding of the past and how it has shaped the present.

Fashion as a Means of Connection

Finally, fashion has the incredible ability to bring people together. Whether it’s bonding over a shared love for a particular designer or discussing the latest fashion trends, fashion creates connections and fosters a sense of community. Fashion shows, events, and online communities allow fashion enthusiasts like me to connect with like-minded individuals from all over the world.

In conclusion, my passion for fashion runs deep. From the power of personal style and the artistry behind fashion to the ever-evolving trends and fashion’s role in society, fashion has become more than just a hobby for me. It is a form of self-expression, a source of inspiration, and a means of connecting with others who share the same love for all things stylish and creative.

Essays About Fashion: Top 5 Examples and 9 Prompts

If you are writing essays about fashion, check out our guide of helpful examples and exciting writing prompts to get started.

Fashion is individuals’ way of expressing their personalities. They do this through clothes and accessories that display their tastes and preferences. There are different fashion styles and trends, and anyone can choose anything they want to follow. Additionally, fashion has various benefits, such as boosting self-confidence, lightening moods, and developing creativity. Our fashion choices also help us send messages and present our beliefs. Thus, fashion can also be political .

Below are five essay examples and nine writing prompts to help you create an eye-catching essay about fashion:

5 Top Essay Examples

1. why fashion is important by george k., 2. fashion: an important part of life by ankita yadav, 3. fashion as communication by eunice summers, 4. fashion 2022 by edudwar, 5. the effect of fashion on teenagers in school by anonymous on newyorkessays.com, 1. fashion trends and women, 2. fashion evolution, 3. fashion and starting a business, 4. effects of fashion on society, 5. the best fashion styles for men, 6. fashion trends in different countries , 7. careers in the fashion industry, 8. cultural fashion vs. modern fashion, 9. the best and worst of fashion trends.

“The clothes we wear has become more than merely a way to cover our nakedness; instead it has also become one of the primary ways in which people express themselves.”

George K explains that fashion separates individuals from the rest. A person can introduce himself to others for who and what he is through style choices. Further, the author expounds on how fashion is a very competitive industry that depends on one’s search for identity. The author also points out that every person is unique and thus needs a distinct style to fit them. However, because of constant peer pressure and criticism, an individual’s fashion picks can’t be entirely their own. Ultimately, George K reminds the reader that it’s not just the clothes but how individuals wear and feel in them.

“…if we can do something then it is choosing the right stuff like entertainment, adventure, fashion, etc. All these things can make us happy and are also an important part of life. Fashion always attracts and it is available for all,”

Yadav considers how fashion originated from people’s traditions and cultures and became what it is today through individuals adopting each style and making it their own. In the following sections of the essay, she defines fashion and lists its importance, including how it developed new employment options and how styles speak for the wearer.

In her conclusion, she encourages everyone to choose their styles and not to mind their age. Fashion helps everyone live life to the fullest.

“Fashion is an industry based on creating a need where there is none and nowadays, due to the current recession, I can understand that fashion may not be people’s biggest concern. But we cannot qualify it as ‘trivial’ since we are surrounded by it; each new generation of customers is highly exposed to commercial influences.”

Summers gives her opinion about the book “Fashion as Communication” by Malcolm Barnard . She identifies points in the work and shares her thoughts on them. The first point being those working in the fashion industry aren’t smart. As a Fashion Marketing student, Summers vehemently disagrees with this statement and recounts her experiences to counter it. She continues to analyze Barnard’s other arguments and agrees with some of them. Summers ends her essay by highlighting that fashion is too essential in modern culture and economic organization for it to be considered “trivial.”

“…the youth cares more about what they wear and how they look which could affect their status in their peer group and meddle with their mental health. Following trends and doing what everyone is doing like a sheep is never a good idea. Fashion is there to reflect your personal style, not copying what other people think is trendy.”

User Edudwar reminds people that fashion is not simply following what’s currently trendy. Fashion is there to give people the chance to show off their individualism and personalities and not present a fake version of themselves to be accepted by society. Additionally, he mentions that youth nowadays are more sensitive to what people think of them, so some will always do everything to follow trends, even if they’re not presentable or appropriate.

“Youths of the present times have indulged themselves in so much fashion that they do not receive sufficient time for other work… The time spent on studies is being used in watching TV programmes, reading fashion articles, or even finding the recent trendy outfits on the Internet.”

The essay discusses the real effects of fashion on today’s youth. The author focuses on kids zeroing in on finding the latest style instead of caring for their studies that directly affect their future. The essay also delves into how youths of yesterday had ambitions and goals in life compared to today’s youths, who prefer to have fun rather than study hard.

9 Writing Prompts For Essays About Fashion

To assist you with your essay, we’ve compiled nine exciting writing prompts you can use:

Some women follow fashion trends religiously. They are also more conscious of their physical appearance. Some even go to the extreme and do plastic surgeries to look better in clothes. In your essay, discuss what you think these trends do to women’s perception of their worth and beauty. Add which trends you believe are unhealthy and why there’s more societal pressure for women to be fashionable.

Each era had its styles that directly resulted from that time’s circumstances. Make a timeline of how fashion evolved and the factors that influenced them. At the end of your essay, pick what you think is the best fashion era and explain why.

For this prompt, include the relevant things a future fashion clothing boutique owner should bear in mind. For instance, they should always be on top of the fashion trends and know how to balance demand and costs. Then, find a boutique owner and interview them about their experience to make your essay more fun to read.

Tackle what makes people choose the clothes they wear daily. Some prefer their fashion to display their personalities while others merely follow what they think is popular. To make your essay more interesting, you can do a simple experiment: Go out in public on two occasions: while wearing your fashion picks and donning the latest fashionable clothes. Then, add your findings and how people reacted to you.

Essays About Fashion: The best fashion styles for men

Fashion for men is different from women. Although most brands dedicate their line to women, men also deserve to know what makes them look fashionable; this essay lists styles that are excellent for men depending on the setting and event.

What could be considered fashionable in one country can be seen as disrespectful in another. For this prompt, compile fashion trends many do but are unacceptable in other places. Reasons why may include religion or tradition. Use research data and cite reliable sourcing for a compelling piece.

In this essay, identify the career opportunities available in the fashion industry, including the steps to get there. Next, list the different job roles within fashion, and describe the responsibilities for each. Then, add tips on succeeding in that job and standing out from the rest. For an intriguing essay, conduct interviews with professionals within the industry and include this in your piece.

Our ancestors’ culture greatly influenced today’s fashion. Meanwhile, modern styles are those that the current generation uses. Write an essay about cultural and contemporary fashion’s differences, similarities, advantages, and disadvantages.

Fashion trends come and go. However, not all popular fashion is pleasing to the eyes. For this essay, compile a list of what is, in your opinion, the best and worst fashion trends. Then, describe why you have formed these opinions and describe the details of each outfit.

Why I Chose to Major in Fashion

Interested in studying fashion in college? Check out why student writer Lauryn decided to pursue this field and her advice for students with the same passion!

by Lauryn Mitchell CollegeXpress Student Writer, Purdue University and the Fashion Institute of Technology

Since elementary school, I’ve always had a creative mind and a love for clothes and drawing. When I was 12 years old, I remember purchasing my first fashion sketch book from the middle school book fair. It featured templates of clothing you could color and add your own designs to. The book immediately caught my eye and was my first opportunity to put my fashion ideas on paper.

Pursuing a new passion

From that point on, I started sketching outfits as a hobby and created my own collection of drawings and ideas. I would do research on my phone, taking notes on how to make it in the fashion industry. While my portfolio wasn’t perfect or professional in any way, it was a start to pursuing my passion. I became obsessed with fashion and studied each day, filling notebook after notebook with ideas for my future clothing company. When applying to colleges, I knew I wanted to major in something creative that involved business so I could eventually become an entrepreneur and turn my passion into a business of my own. Fashion was the perfect combination of my love for clothes, art, and business, and it was an industry I could see myself working in.

Roadblocks along the way

While a career in fashion became my dream, there were some obstacles in my way. Coming from a small city in the Midwest, there weren’t many opportunities in fashion, nor did I know anyone personally in the field. I knew if I wanted to enter the fashion industry, I needed to go beyond my comfort zone. Just as there aren’t many career opportunities, major fashion schools are not located in the Midwest, so I knew I would have to go to college out of state or pay private institution tuition prices . This was a huge challenge knowing that I had to rely solely on financial aid to put me through school along with part-time jobs.

Finding the right school

In searching for the right college, I was able to find one that could provide the best education without paying a huge price. I decided to attend Purdue University in my home state of Indiana to major in Retail Management with a concentration in Apparel Design and Technology.  Although Indiana doesn’t seem as close to my dream as it could be, I chose Purdue because of the special Fashion program they offered: juniors have the opportunity to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City as a visiting student! While at FIT, students can study either Fashion Business Management or Fashion Design and earn a one-year associate degree from the School. The program also counts toward a bachelor’s degree at Purdue, which gave me the opportunity to study at one of the best fashion schools in the world while still earning both a bachelor’s and associate degree in four years.

Living in a fashion capital

This year, my junior year, I moved to New York City and began studying at FIT in their Fashion Business Management program, taking classes in fashion marketing, product development, fashion merchandising, merchandising math, and much more.  During my time in New York, I took advantage of the vast opportunities in the city and even participated in three internships during my time there. I interned with a lingerie company called Fleur du Mal with the design and production team; with Gigi Burris Millinery, doing operational tasks for a hat company; and with Nautica working in their merchandising department. Each of my internships taught me so much about the fashion industry and pushed me to step outside my comfort zone even further. Participating in this amazing program brought me so many opportunities and put my foot in the door with multiple reputable fashion companies.

Coming home early because of COVID-19

My time in New York was rewarding, but unfortunately it was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has had a huge effect on colleges across the country, including FIT. The campus closed as many campuses have, and I moved back home to Indiana early. Thankfully, I was able to finish five weeks of my internship at Nautica before coming home. I had been juggling my internship with Gigi Burris at the same time, but even with the unforeseen circumstances, I still had two great semesters with her and gained valuable experience from her company. Now all my classes have moved online, which hasn’t been very difficult considering they’re all business oriented and don’t require many physical projects. Although I miss the city, I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to study there, and I can’t wait to go back and visit!

Postgraduation plans

After graduation, I hope to work in merchandising for a fashion brand in order to gain more experience and expertise. My end goal is to establish a company of my own, designing and selling my own clothing around the world. I’ve taken various courses in fashion design and fashion business that’ll help prepare me for a career in the industry and creating my own business. I’m passionate about becoming my own boss and being a female business owner . As I take more classes and learn more about the industry each year, I feel more prepared and confident to begin a career in this field.

Advice for others considering a Fashion major

For anyone else considering a major in Fashion, my advice is to make a plan. Most importantly, do your research on different careers in fashion and determine if they align with your passions. Next, consider your circumstances as well as your opportunities. While affordability is important, make sure you think about any scholarships or work-study programs you could take advantage of to expand your opportunities. It’s important to research any possible schools you’re interested in and what types of Fashion majors they offer, as well as their resources for students. The in-class education is just one aspect of fashion learning; making sure you’re building connections within the industry and participating in programs that will aid in your development are just as important.

All the opportunities I’ve encountered thus far have been a result of being involved in multiple programs and activities involving fashion, not just taking fashion courses. While the industry is very competitive and requires a lot of dedication, as long as you’re mindful and open to new experiences, you can gain the most from your major and be more prepared for a career after college.

My Passion with Fashion

Anybody that knows me knows that my passion and goals in life have to deal with fashion. If I could be anything in this world I would love to be a designer of some sort or at least be in the industry. When it comes to clothing and style it just comes easy one of the easiest things I’m good at. Fashion is an art form it allows you to express your view on style anyway you choose. And to me I feel like nobody has the right to judge that. Style hasn’t always come easy to be though just like everything else it takes time and practice it’s still a work in progress. When I look back to my middle school and early high school years I wonder deeply about my choices, middle school had to have been the worst. I was going through a colored jeans faze, I would wear bright yellow, honey mustard yellow, sky blue, purple, and pink. If somebody were to name a color I probably had jeans that color. It gets worse though because I would have the worst possible combination choice of shoes to go along with a matching bead necklace and bracelet set, followed by a grey or navy blue uniform shirt. It’s clear I had no idea what I was doing the best part is I was being myself and that’s all that matters. No matter how much I think my style has grown I’m only human and will look back and probably wonder why I wore the outfit I’m wearing sitting here writing this essay. When it comes to fashion its key to make it your own style, nobody is forced to shop off the manikin its just there to guide in some sort of direction to start the shopper off somewhere. No two people on this earth are the same therefore personality is key and your clothes flaunt that. The way one chooses to dress is how they want the world to see them. A person has to know when it is the righ... ... middle of paper ... ... good especially when on a hundred dollar budget and eighty dollars was spent on an unmentionable, and then I find something I’ve been looking for only to find out I could no longer afford it. Deal hunting is always welcomed in the fashion world it’s like cheating the system and we all know haw that old saying goes. “If you aren’t cheating you aren’t trying.” When it comes to style though in all honesty being you is the best choice of all. No matter how slamming those thousand dollar shoes are if you aren’t comfortable and true to one self then what are you doing. No two people are alike and creativity is key in this small place we call the world. I promise you’ll stick out more when you’re wearing what you are because the glow of confidence will radiate out like a leprechauns gold pot. My style isn’t always translated by others but it is respected for being unique.

Personal Narrative: I Am Weird

Fashion: The Transformation Of Fashion In The 18th Century

Style is something that comes from within. If there’s anything absolute about style it’s that it holds you accountable to yourself at every moment. People understand that what they put on in the morning is the first thing that people notice about them (Garcia 6). The clothing you wear affects how you feel about yourself throughout the whole day. In fact clothing is the most principal means for identifying oneself in a public space (Crane 9). Clothes are supposed to give us a sense of security in presenting ourselves to society. Our personal identities focus on our own beliefs, goals and value systems, and our fashion comes in all forms. This form of identity can be expressed when people wear whatever they like because it makes them feel good about themselves and makes them feel happy, confident, less self-conscious and free from social expectations and

The Language Of Clothing Analysis

Clothing and personality are of importance because they go hand in hand by keeping an individual satisfied on an everyday basis. Everyone has their own attitude and sense of style, but regardless of the type of personality and clothing, they can affect the individual and those around them. Due to the denotation that society tends to tag along with divergent styles, affects an individual in the way that it can either construct a day memorable for affirmative or pessimistic reasons. Nicole Cooley emphasizes this idea in her article, “The Language of Clothes”, by relaying the experience of a little girl who found herself to be unattractive; consequently, composing dreadful days. There came a moment, though where this girl decided to wear her grandmother’s aged clothing, and through this she was able to see herself through her grandmother's eyes, now viewing someone beautiful and worthy of living (Cooley). Cooley expresses the fact that the clothing of one can affect their personality, explaining why so many people experience lousy days. A prime example being the little

Social Media Impact On Fashion

Nowadays, fashion has become a big status in the world. It has the power to be prominent to many. College Admissions Essay: Americas Next Top Model

Ever since I was able to dress myself I would and wouldn’t let anyone else tell me what to wear. As my family would tell me, they knew that I had my own sense of style from a young age. Over they years my love for fashion and creating things grew and never went away. While taking sewing classes in middle school, I wanted to be a fashion designer and that stayed my top career choice for a while. Once I got to high school I first took a fashion marketing class. In that class we learned a little bit about different marketing and how to promote some stores

How Middle School Shaped My Life

I started wearing what I wanted and not just what was popular. I didn’t have close connections with my friends at the time either. Most of them gossiped all the time, and that’s just not me. I had been stuck in my shell for way too long in fears of being an outcast. The first day of trying to come out of my shell I was made fun of, but I didn’t care near as much as I thought I would. These people are making jokes about me but don’t have any clue who I am, what I’ve been through, or what my future holds. So why even give them the time of day? I kept on wearing what I wanted and actually made life-long friends who were into the same things as I was. It does not matter what you wear or how you look honestly. The only thing that should matter is what’s inside of you, and you shouldn’t be discouraged to express that in fears of someone not liking you. “Those who matter don’t mind, those that mind don’t matter” (Theodore Suess Geisel.)

My Passion For Biological Science

My passion for the fascinating wolrd of science literally can not be put into words. Since receiving my first home science kit at five years of age the way things work and why has always been at the forefront of my mind. During my early years I would find great delight in examining anything I could fit under the lens of my telescope. I will never forget my first look at the intricate detail of a human hair.

Sense of Belonging in Our Society

Fashion is one of those things that people can claim they don't care about. They can defend again and again that it doesn't matter what one wears, it's the person who wears it. But in all likelihood they will continue to be judged, as we all are, for the clothes on our body, the shoes on our feet and the hairstyle we are sporting.

Fashion and Semiotics

...o contextual influences and past experiences. Therefore it is almost impossible to pre-empt the ways in which others will perceive you. Over time ideas will change and therefore alter the ways in which we look back on past clothing choices. Whilst symbolism in fashion may no longer be subject to laws as it was in the 14th century or defined by strict social rules in the 17th century, the clothes we wear are still today subject to imposed social ideals. Apart from distinguishing one status group from another, a style of dress may also aid group cohesiveness, provide the individual with an identity and a feeling of belonging, and communicate the wearer’s attitudes and interests. The ways in which we interpret others and present ourselves for interpretation is the only true way that we can be individual. Symbolism in clothing may not seem as obvious or important nowadays as it was in times of extreme social bigotry, but it is still highly prevalent and has remained one of the most effective ways to project our desired image to those around us. ‘The state of a person’s clothes is synonymous with self respect and is a sign of responsibility’ (www. Pemberley.com/janeinfo/vebleis7.html)

My Passion For Marketing

What I discovered about myself, is that I have a personality type of a “protagonist”. The “Protagonist” basically describes myself adequately, as they find it easy to communicate with others, natural born leaders, and are full of charisma. All of those characteristics tie in to the type of skill and job that I soon want to be possessed in. That job and skill lies in the Marketing field. My attraction draws to this specific job because I am an outgoing person, persuasive, and use my creativity to the best of my ability. I have always questioned the things people do, such as “Why do people purchase they things they do?” and “What inspires and influence consumer purchase behaviors?”. All of this falls under Marketing, which plan programs to generate

A Persuasive Speech On School Uniforms

I remember when I was in high school I would wake up every morning dreading the thought of “what am I going to wear today?” I remember seeing girls in school who would always have new clothes and I would wish of a wardrobe with name brand clothes. With my parents having three daughters in school who didn’t require uniform I could just imagine the nightmare it was for them to have to take three girls shopping all the time.

Personal Narrative: Nature Vs. Nurture

The main secondary factors consist of how I act, how I dress, and how I as well as others would describe myself. My style includes an array of ranges from semi punk to somewhat hipster to quite grunge. Which ironically is fairly similar to how my mother dressed since she was a teenager during the 80’s when the grunge style was just newly arising to the fashion industry. Nonetheless, my wardrobe mainly consists of worn down combat boots, charmed chokers, light as well as dark washed flannels, and ripped tights. Although many people would argue that an individual’s style is majorly influenced by societal standards and expectations of what is appropriate, I can firmly say that my style is solely based upon my liking and not those of others. In certain cases I will have to purchase clothing from online retails because the clothing the majority of teenagers wear don’t appeal to my style preference. Consequently, my clothing choices can tend to spark debate between the more conservative elders of today’s society however, I adamantly believe that wearing what makes you feel confident within yourself is what should be deemed

Fashion History

Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing style in their general life. Some styles are influenced in vintage styles which is attributing to the deep effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element. According to those different styles some of them are even evolved in the milestones in fashion history.

A t times it is incredibly hard to be optimistic about the fashion industry, with its £1 bikinis and £0 boots . Fashion is the world’s second-largest industrial polluter, accounting for 10% of carbon emissions . Microscopic fibres from synthetic clothing are now found in waterways and food chains , while piles of unwanted clothing dumped in countries such as Ghana are so big they can be seen from space. Despite all this, the cycle of newness and shopping continues.

When an email arrived in my inbox from Fashion Revolution, the non-profit social enterprise founded in the wake of the 2013 Rana Plaza factory disaster , I was curious. The group has become the world’s largest fashion activism movement. In the decade since it started campaigning, it has sparked an international movement with its Who Made My Clothes? campaign and launched the Fashion Transparency index to measure how open and accountable major fashion brands are about their human rights and environmental practices. But, for all of its efforts, greenwashing in the wider industry remains rife – particularly in April, around Earth Day . So, how much has actually changed?

I asked experts what there is to be positive about.

Aditi Mayer , climate activist “As important as conscious consumerism is, true changes in fashion will be underpinned by the trifecta of supporting workers’ movements, consumer awareness and corporate accountability. An example of this has been support for the Fabric Act , which would support workplace protections and manufacturing incentives to cement the US as the global leader in responsible apparel production. We’ve also seen the rise of support for the Fashion Act , recently championed by celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie , which would hold companies accountable and level the playing field for those already trying to do the right thing, such as mandate that companies know and disclose their supply chains.”

Hannah Rochell , founder of the sustainable style website slowette.com “It’s really encouraging that there are now so many brilliant, responsible options for British-made clothing. From made-to-order models like Emiko and Roake Studio, to small-batch producers – I love Batch London and Paynter – and Patrick Grant’s Community Clothing, whose raison d’etre is to restore local skills and prosperity in towns across the UK by means of its quality basics.”

Tiffanie Darke, founder of the newsletter It’s Not Sustainable “I’m excited for new legislation. France, as ever, is leading the way with money-back schemes for those who repair clothes and punchy proposals to tax fast fashion brands . I’m also excited for more conscious consumerism: there has been a groundswell of understanding in recent years that fashion should not be an all-you-can-eat buffet, that consumption has consequences and there is such a thing as too much. The Rule of Five campaign [which Darke pioneered] , along with no-buy and 30-wear challenges are attracting increasingly large audiences.”

Fashion and plastic waste choke a fish landing in Accra, Ghana.

Tamsin Blanchard , journalist “Although there is still so much work to be done around workers’ pay and conditions, as well as the biggest issue of how to tackle overproduction, I’m excited about the work on regenerative textile production. Brands like Ōshadi , in India, are leading the way with new supply chains that work in harmony with nature. Their latest Seed-to-Sew collection is made with cotton grown in rotation with other crops to promote biodiversity and draw carbon into the soil. The fact that there are brands successfully reworking the way our clothes are grown and made gives me hope.”

Venetia La Manna , fair fashion campaigner “Fashion justice solutions come from the communities most impacted by Big Fashion’s greed, which is why I am so excited about the Or Foundation’s Speak Volumes campaign. It’s led by the second-hand community at the Kantamanto market, in Accra, Ghana, who work tirelessly to cope with overproduction. Speak Volumes is demanding industry-wide accountability on annual production numbers, and is calling on all fashion brands to disclose their production volumes. In November, brands including Lucy & Yak, Finisterre and Stripe & Stare all disclosed their annual production volumes. This is a win for accountability as we look to develop data-driven policies that cap the amount of clothing Big Fashion produces.”

Emma Slade Edmondson , sustainability consultant “I’m excited about how enthusiastic and inspired young people are about conscious fashion and doing things differently to my own generation. When I started in this industry I would be constantly asked (in a quizzical way) why I focused on ‘sustainable fashion’. Now, younger people are asking me why there are fashion brands and organisations who aren’t doing things in a more conscious way.”

after newsletter promotion

Clare Press, author of Wear Next: Fashioning the Future “Fashion media has woken up to sustainability. We’ve got a whole new generation of writers, editors, stylists and image-makers determined to hold the industry accountable, and bring their values to work. It’s a huge shift. There’s no going back – yes, we’re dealing with ultra-fast fashion and waste colonialism, and we haven’t solved our supply chain issues, but the level of mainstream awareness today is unrecognisable from a decade ago. The discourse has come of age. It makes me hopeful.”

Patrick McDowell , fashion designer “It’s amazing to see the rise of made-to-order fashion. It’s the main way we can create a more sustainable industry – through making what we know clients are going to buy. Once a business shifts focus to this way of working, it is concentrating on quality and craftsmanship over quantity of units sold. It’s better for the planet and better for those wearing the pieces.”

Tansy E Hoskins , author and journalist “An important step forward in the fashion industry is the recent creation of the Dindigul agreement to end gender-based violence and harassment in India. This agreement is the work of the Dalit women-led Tamil Nadu Textile and Common Labour Union and was created after the murder of garment worker Jeyasre Kathiravel . With its intersectional focus on ending gender- and caste-based violence, the agreement is a first for Asia and one of the few legally binding – not voluntary or corporate-operated – pieces of legislation in the entire fashion industry. It is a successful, working model for stamping out the endemic gender-based violence that happens right across fashion’s supply chains.”
