Hi, just recently bought the trilogy for PS3 and I'm loving the game. Now that I'm a Spectre and commanding the Normandy I have a list of missions I can due in my own order. Usually I prefer getting the side quests over with before continuing with the story missions, but I'm finding all of the UNC assignments to be quite difficult so far. Is there a reason for this? Am I supposed to start those much later? Any tips would be welcomed.

In 1981, Tim Walz and his father traveled to the nearest Army National Guard enlistment officer to his hometown in Nebraska.
“We met up with a lieutenant who had to get off his tractor from early spring plowing,” Walz said in a 2018 interview with MPR News. “And we did the oath of enlistment right there on the edge of a field with the recruiter. And that led me on a 24-year journey.”
The Minnesota governor, and now running mate with Vice President Kamala Harris, has often talked about his service in the National Guard. Now others are talking about it too, and not always in glowing terms, especially when it comes to Walz’s stepping away from the Guard.
Harris called him a “patriot” in Philadelphia on Tuesday, the first rally the two held together.
Gifts from individuals keep MPR News accessible to all - free of paywalls and barriers.
“To his fellow veterans. He is Sergeant Major Walz,” Harris said, as the crowd cheered.
Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance took aim at the governor’s accounts of his service on the campaign trail, calling Walz’s decision to leave the National Guard when he did “shameful.”
Members of the National Guard train to fight in wars, and to respond to national security threats. They also are called up for state emergencies. The majority of guard members have full-time civilian jobs and serve part-time in the guard.
Walz served in Nebraska, Texas and Arkansas before moving to Minnesota in 1996. He was in the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery based in New Ulm.
He specialized in heavy artillery and had ribbons for proficiency in sharpshooting and hand grenades, according to military records MPR News obtained through an open records request.
During his service, he suffered hearing damage due to heavy artillery use . He later had surgery to address that.
His training missions included one near the Arctic Circle in northern Norway.
In 2003 he was deployed to Italy for nine months, providing support for the war in Afghanistan .
“[Our] responsibility was to provide support at these bases in the early parts of the war in 2003, where these troops in the active force went forward into the war zone,” Walz said. “And we went in and provided base security, provided training on the backside, because the regular force was deployed downrange.”
On May 15, 2005, Walz retired from the Guard. His separation record says he did so honorably.
Later that year, his battalion was deployed for the Iraq war.
The 1-125th Field Artillery “received an alert order for mobilization to Iraq on July 14, 2005. The official Department of the Army mobilization order was received on Aug. 14, 2005, and the unit mobilized on Oct. 12, 2005,” said Lt. Col. Ryan Rossman, Minnesota National Guard’s director of operations.
At the time of his retirement, Walz was 41 and wanted to run for Congress. He was elected to the First District Congressional seat the following year.
In the 2022 race for governor, Republican candidate Scott Jensen — flanked by veterans — pointedly questioned Walz’s decision to leave the Guard before the battalion’s Iraq deployment.
“In my eyes, today is the day that Tim Walz is indicted for lack of leadership and an unwillingness to do his duty, and Minnesota needs to know about it,” Jensen said.
Walz said in 2018 he believed he could make a difference as a voice for soldiers in Congress.
“I wouldn’t put myself as a hero, but 24 years of service commendations, rising to a rank that your listeners who are in the military know, you don’t get to bluff your way to that, you earn that and, and I’m certainly proud of that,” he said.
Allan Bonnifield served with Walz, whom he first met in 1999. In a 2018 interview with MPR News, Bonnifield said Walz debated whether he should focus on a run for Congress or stay in the National Guard.
“He weighed that decision to run for Congress very, very heavy,” Bonnifield said. “He loved the military, he loved the Guard, he loved the soldiers that he worked with, and making that decision was very tough for him. Especially knowing that we were going on another deployment to Iraq. He didn’t take that decision lightly at all.”
Vance, who criticized Walz’s record, served four years in the Marines. He was deployed to Iraq for six months in 2005 as a combat correspondent, or military journalist according to Task and Purpose, a publication that covers the military.
Bonnifield said Walz focused on veterans in Congress . Of the 85 bills Walz sponsored over his six terms, nearly half had to do with veterans’ issues.
“He worked on making it easier for Guard members struggling to get help and contact the right people for post traumatic stress help, for the suicidal thoughts, for just making things quicker and making it so people realized it is an actual problem, it’s not something that will just go away,” Bonnifield said.
There have also been questions raised by critics about two aspects of Walz’s retirement documents. First, his title at retirement, and second, a lack of a signature on his separation record.
Walz left the military at the rank of command sergeant major, one of the top for an enlisted soldier.
Personnel file records show that he was reduced in rank months after retiring, leaving him as a master sergeant for benefits purposes.
“[Walz] held multiple positions within field artillery such as firing battery chief, operations sergeant, first sergeant and culminated his career serving as the command sergeant major for the battalion,” said Lt. Col. Kristen Augé, a public affairs officer with the Minnesota National Guard. “He retired as a master sergeant in 2005 for benefit purposes because he did not complete additional coursework at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.”
In the separation record for Walz, a signature box says “Soldier not available for signature.” The guard said that’s relatively routine for these documents.
“For members of the reserve components, who are not available for signature, using the regulatory statement of ‘not available to sign’ is common,” said Army Col. Ryan Cochran, the Minnesota National Guard’s director of manpower and personnel. “This statement is authorized and directed by both Army Regulations and National Guard Regulations to ensure the timely processing of administrative actions.”
MPR News politics editor Brian Bakst and former APM Reports correspondent Chris Haxel contributed reporting to this story.

The adventure continues.
We simply cannot get enough of Mass Effect, especially when new Unreal Engine adventures give us the chance to keep Shepard’s story alive.
Even though BioWare intends to release a new Mass Effect eventually, fans have a long wait to endure before that happens.
And new games we once thought were safe have since been cancelled after six years of development .
It’s a turbulent ride being a Mass Effect fan.
There is a plus side to this bumpy ride, though, and it comes in the form of new creations like this Unreal Engine offering.
Mass Effect: Pilgrimage is a “drama/thriller fan-series" that’s currently being worked on by Redditor sudsypoo.
Not to be that person, but have you seen the Dragon Age: The Veilguard official reveal?
As they revealed in their post, this is still very much still a work in progress.
Described as a “labour of love”, the pilot episode for the show is already “wrapping up”, meaning it shouldn’t be long until we see the first fruits of all this effort.
Set in 2186, it takes place before Mass Effect 3 .
Intended to be a "seven-episode standalone series”, each episode is expected to last between “10-15 minutes”.
“Cerberus has taken control of the lawless Omega station, and various mercenary organisations have fled to rebuild substantial losses.
One of these organisations – the Blue Suns – has re-allocated their remaining manpower to the human-controlled colony, Elysium [..] It is within Elysium's capital city of Illyria that our story takes place.”
We’re loving the setup so far, as too are the fans.
Redditor FunDragonfruit1569 said they “can’t wait” for its release, while another remarked that “the hype is real”.
Although we've only seen stills from the show thus far, the level of detail the OP has managed to capture is admirable.
Our only hope is that it lives up to expectations and scratches that itch while we wait for the next ME title to release.
With Dragon Age: The Veilguard coming out first, it’s going to be a while before we see official reveals from BioWare.

Catch an early feel of shockwave’s energy with spotlights on revival, the new neon-lit e-district map, akimbo weapons, and more..
We all need a jumpstart occasionally, Legends. Nothing too shocking, but you may still want to ground yourself first. Shockwave is fully charged and ready to light up your time in the Outlands. The energy is palpable with the new respawn mechanic in Trios Revival (and Straight Shot Revival in our first event of the season), allowing you and the squad to get back into the fight sooner. Why not take a trip to E-District, our latest map, where it’s always lit with neon lights. Or light things up yourself with the all-new Akimbo by dual-wielding P2020s or Mozambiques for extra firepower.
Don’t get it twisted. The Apex Games are no vacation. Keep your wits about you with Battle Sense: enemy health bars and highlights become temporarily visible after you deal damage. Whether you’re new, returning, or looking for a change of pace, you can warm up, practice, and hone your skills in the new Bot Royale mode where you'll face bots in a condensed Battle Royale experience.
Stay in the game longer with Revival: a new twist on respawning without banners or respawn beacons. As long as one squadmate still stands, you’ll automatically respawn based on a timer until the fourth ring. But it’s never that easy. Your respawn timer will increase with each death and each round; and if you and another are both down, you’ll respawn together with the earliest timer. Any living squadmate can speed up the timer by taking aggressive action like doing damage, downing enemies, and eliminating them.
Revival kicks off with pub Trios when Shockwave launches on August 6, 2024, and Straight Shot will also be getting the Revival spark shortly after launch with the first event of the season.
Set your sights on a new site: E-District, a map built for verticality and instant, continuous action. This densely packed urban oasis has seen blackouts, riots, and a chemical attack at Humbert Labs all in its recent past. Now, thanks to the generosity of the Mercenary Syndicate, it’s been cleaned, powered up, and transformed for your entertainment. Every block of this high-rise battleground has a story to tell. Where will you build yours?
Check out our full Welcome to E-District blog tomorrow, August 2, for a full overview of all the details.
Akimbo has made it to the Outlands! Dual wield two P2020s or two Mozambiques (not one of each) this season. Find and interact with a second P2020 or Mozambique and to automatically enter Akimbo mode.
In Akimbo, both the P2020s and Mozambiques will benefit from automatic firing and increased rate of fire. Attachments will be mirrored to the second weapon (no need to find two light magazines or bolts), however optics will be disabled. Magazine size while in Akimbo is doubled compared to the single version but will incur longer reload times. When aiming instead of looking down the sights you’ll instead tighten their hipfire spread. Opt back into the single version of these weapons by toggling their select fire which will holster the second weapon and re-enable their optic.
It’s always best to keep your wits about you in the heat of battle. With Shockwave, we’re growing Battle Sense with two new features: temporary health bars and highlights that appear while you’re dealing damage to an enemy. But keep your eyes on the elimination prize—if you lose line of sight, the health bar disappears. Enemies will also be highlighted in red, making them easier to spot against the landscape around them and differentiate them from your squadmates.
With the launch of Shockwave, new players coming to Apex will receive the new Welcome Pass. The Welcome Pass is a unique set of challenges designed to help new players learn foundational skills to be successful in Battle Royale. Complete challenges to make your way through the track to earn cosmetics and Legend Tokens to unlock a Legend of their choice upon completion. All challenges in this track can be completed in Bot Royale or Battle Royale modes, and you’ll unlock additional sets of challenges as you progress.
Whether you’re a new player, a returning player, or just looking to get good, this new mode is the perfect arena to learn, practice, and perfect your playstyle outside of pubs and Ranked. Play by yourself with bot squadmates or fill out a fully human squad to take on a smaller lobby of eight enemy bot squads. And don’t worry about the MRVNs, they’ll be fine. Just dominate like the Legend you’ve always been.
Shockwave is fully energized with Revival, E-District, Akimbo, Battle Sense, Bot Royale, and more. We’re just getting charged up. Our Welcome to E-District and Patch Notes blogs coming over the next few days are full of details you don’t want to miss. And keep your eyes on socials for more inside scoops from devs and behind the scenes content. Time to Tap in, Legends.

Morality assignments.
This page of IGN's Mass Effect wiki guide is all about the Morality Assignment Side-Quests. These are a pair of Assignments that only unlock once Shepard has filled up a certain amount of either the Paragon or Renegade Morality bars. Read below for all the details!

Morality Assignments are unique among Mass Effect's Assignments in that they do not unlock until you've filled 80% of a Morality Bar. If you want to unlock both, then whichever Morality Assignment you hadn't unlocked yet will not do so until you reach 90% on its required Morality Bar.
Once you've met one of their requirements, then you'll receive the associated Assignment from Admiral Hackett once you travel to a new system. If you only intend to explore the respective world, then that will unlock when the associated bar is filled to 75%.
Unlocking both Morality Assignments on a standard playthrough is, quite frankly, extremely difficult, and will almost certainly result in having to make undesired choices that will affect things in Mass Effect 2 and / or 3. Most players will instead use one of two glitches to artificially fill one of the Morality Bars and unlock both Assignments:
Biotic fanatics have taken over a medical station and drugged innocent researchers to serve as human shields. You must eliminate the biotics while minimizing innocent casualties.
Admiral Hackett has asked you to negotiate a treaty with a man named Darius in the Plutus system. The treaty concerns mining rights on an asteroid rich in Element Zero. You are authorized to make any financial or diplomatic concessions necessary to secure mining rights on the asteroid.
