Co-Op Information

Passage Help Center

As a student, you will be receiving various communications from the college to keep you informed and supported throughout your academic journey.

Please keep in mind that these communications are sent to a broad audience and may not always apply directly to Passage students. George Brown sends the same information to all of their students, and sometimes their communications teams do not know that Passage students are exempt or ineligible for certain things.

For example, you may receive notice that you have an upcoming tuition payment deadline. As Passage is funding your tuition, this deadline can be ignored. Another example would be related to opting out of Health Insurance. Unless you have purchased a private plan in Canada (which is very expensive), this message would not be applicable to you.

To make the most of these messages:

Download your preferred email mobile app: A great way to stay on top of new emails from GBC and Passage is to install an email mobile app on your phone, and enable push notifications. This way, you will see new emails immediately.

Review each email carefully: to determine if any of the information applies to you. Even if not everything will be relevant, topics like Scholarships and Funding, as well as Events and Info Sessions, may still hold valuable opportunities.

Stay informed about important dates: related to Registration and Surveys, as they may still be applicable for participation or feedback.

Ask for clarification: If you’re ever unsure about whether a communication applies to you, the Passage support team is always available to help you understand what is relevant and guide you through any next steps. If you receive an alert and you feel panicked (for example, a payment deadline is coming up), don’t worry! Let us know and we’ll clarify whether or not it applies to you.

The communications will cover a range of topics, including:

Registration : Information regarding course registration for your upcoming semesters, including key registration deadlines and any holds to your account which may prevent you from being able to register.

Surveys : You may be invited to participate in optional or mandatory feedback surveys - we encourage you to participate and make your voice heard!

Events and Info Sessions : George Brown College offers several amazing opportunities to learn about a variety of topics, even before you start your studies! Unless specified, these events are optional but they are a great way to engage with your peers, learn from industry experts, and explore a variety of subjects from dance classes, to immigration pathways!

Scholarships and Funding Opportunities: You may have opportunities to apply for additional funding to support your school fees, textbooks, or living costs! We encourage all Passage students to take advantage of these opportunities when presented. Be sure to read the eligibility criteria for each award before applying, to ensure you meet the criteria.

General Important Information : Although each email sent from the college should be read carefully, there are some notices which are time-sensitive. Sometimes the school will communicate a campus closure, threat to security, notice of strike, or a public health concern, and it is critical that you read these messages as soon as you receive them to see how they may affect you.

We look forward to supporting you throughout your studies! If you have any questions or need further guidance, please contact [email protected] .

Also, some programs require supplemental material as part of the application.
