DJ Tillu Movie Review: Siddhu Jonnalagadda shines in this madcap comedy
Rating: ( 3 / 5).
Telugu audiences got so deprived of quality humour in recent years that most of us almost forgot to appreciate genuinely funny entertainers. Such good comedies do more than make you smile, they keep you hooked till the end despite their predictability.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda's DJ Tillu , the latest madcap comedy, is filled with loads of fun and quirky characters that it deserves a red carpet reception. The plot of the film is not witty but has everything it needs for a youthful entertainer. It is a rare film without too many characters -- not even a sidekick for the protagonist. The screenplay focuses only on the two lead actors but manages to entertain us with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and witty one-liners, seldom deviating from its core plot.
Cast: Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Neha Shetty, Brahmaji Direction: Vimal Krishna
The Vimal Krishna directorial presents Siddhu as Bal Gangadhar Tilak alias DJ Tillu, a happy-go-lucky youngster from the bylanes of Malkajgiri, who performs at local weddings, bonalu, and saree functions in flashy colourful outfits. He falls head-over-heels in love with singer Radhika (Neha Shetty) and his happiness is short-lived as he finds himself embroiled in a murder case.
DJ Tillu works primarily because it’s a smartly written film that moves briskly from one gag to another, leaving you with hardly any time to stop and ponder. Although you can trace back several of the jokes to a few yesteryear blockbusters, it's the way in which they come together in the screenplay deserves credit.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda looks the part and his energy adds a lot of layers to the character. Neha Shetty does a decent job of playing a deceitful girlfriend with big aspirations. Murali, who played Tillu's father amps up the fun quotient with his Hyderabadi dialect, while Brahmaji makes his presence felt as a halfwit cop.
Ram Miriyala’s Tillu Anna DJ Pedithe, which has become viral among the youth, lives up to the expectations, and SS Thaman’s background score accentuates the drama.
A little over two hours, there’s so much to like about DJ Tillu and one can give it a try for Siddhu’s spectacular performance and clever writing.

‘DJ Tillu’ movie review: Siddhu steals the show in this outlandish comic caper
Director vimal krishna helms a laughter riot populated with quirky, morally ambiguous characters.
Updated - February 13, 2022 06:46 pm IST
Published - February 13, 2022 06:44 pm IST
DJ Tillu takes a fresh look at the idea of a ‘mass’ film. There’s a familiar formula by which films targeting a large section of the audience, termed as ‘mass’ in Telugu film parlance, play out. But then, men and women that make up our cities do not fit into a pre-ascertained mould. If 2021’s smash hit Jathi Ratnalu dipped into the flavour of Jogipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad, DJ Tillu builds a fun ride centred on a wastrel from Malkajgiri in Secunderabad. Director Vimal Krishna, who shares the writing credits with the lead actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda, ensures that the narrative is packed with madcap fun moments.
We get an idea of who Tillu is right at the beginning when his distraught father comments that his son is safer in the hospital, in coma, than on the streets. Named and raised as Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the son later calls himself Tillu, sports colourful clothing and struts around claiming to be a DJ. He is an entitled brat who doesn’t feel guilty for squandering his father’s money but talks about wanting his ‘professional space’ when his parents are guests at the same event where he is at the turn table. Beneath all that self-created hype are small-time DJing opportunities that do not even afford Tillu a haircut in a posh salon; he tries in vain to make the hairstylist at the neighbourhood salon understand streaks and highlights.
When this wastrel, who thinks he is street smart, falls in love with Radhika (Neha Shetty), nothing remains the same. Radhika is designed as a morally ambiguous character whose moves evoke distrust not just in Tillu, but also us, the viewers. Is she a victim of liaisons that went wrong, an opportunist, or a mix of both? There’s a dead body along the way and things get increasingly messy. Tillu is torn between his love for Radhika and desperate to wriggle out of the situation.
The first hour is a riot anarrated with sharp humour and Tillu getting the best lines. It nearly becomes a one-man show as Siddhu gives it his all to play the eccentric character, owning the swag. It is also a physically demanding character, where his body language adds to the fun. He does this with no inhibition, unafraid to look silly in a few places.
Nothing Tillu says or does is there just for fun. The dance he does in front of an apartment complex and casual conversations in scenes that seem to be randomly placed at first, all come in handy to push the story forward.
When Radhika tells him to stop looking at her through the compass of morality, she is speaking to all those watching the film. The narrative, while showing how glamorous women are viewed as objects of lust, neither judges her nor gives her a clean chit. Neha Shetty pulls off this complex character well.
Accentuating Tillu’s madcap world is Sricharan Pakala and Thaman’s vibrant music, cinematographer Saiprakash Ummadisingu’s almost psychedelic visual canvas and Avinash Kolla’s production design. Among the supporting cast, Brahmaji and Prince Cecil make an impression. Several others like Kireeti and Pragati get their moments.
The fun wears off in the later portions. It is easy to see through the smokescreen of a pivotal character and the turnaround does not come across as a surprise. A few questions are also left answered. However, the film redeems itself to an extent.
After Jathi Ratnalu , DJ Tillu might be another film in which the fun quotient works better with collective viewing in the theatres. Tillu’s story isn’t over, yet. The stage is set for a sequel.

DJ Tillu Review: No Logic - Only Magic
Movie: DJ Tillu Rating: 2.75/5 Banner: Sithara Entertainments Cast: Siddhu, Neha Shetty, Prince Cecil, Brahmaji, Pragathi, Narra Srinivas, and others Story and screenplay by: Vimal Krishna and Siddhu Dialogues: SiddhuJonnalagadda Music: Sri Charan Pakala BGM: Thaman S DOP: Sai Prakash Ummadisingu Art: AvinashKolla Editor: Navin Nooli Producer: Suryadevara Naga Vamsi Director: Vimal Krishna Release Date: Feb 12, 2022
Young actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda has gained success and popularity with youthful dramas like “Krishna and His Leela”. He has successfully created hype around his latest film, DJ Tillu, which hit the theaters today.
Let’s analyze.
Story: Bala Gangadhara Tilak aka DJ Tillu is a DJ in Hyderabad. He meets a beautiful Radhika (Neha Shetty) at a club.
Within minutes, his heart melts and she takes him to her home. Bingo, they kiss each other.
What DJ doesn’t know is that she has a boyfriend, she ‘accidentally’ killed him and she seeks DJ’s help in burying the dead body.
A detective blackmailing Tillu and Radhika sparks a chain of events.
Artistes’ Performances: Siddhu Jonnalagadda has transformed completely to play this fun character. He owns it, from body language to attitude and the lingo. He dominates the film as an actor and dialogue writer.
Neha Shetty looks beautiful and plays her part convincingly.
Prince has played a cameo. The actor who plays Siddhu’s father leaves an impression. Narra Srinu, Brahmaji, and others do their parts.
Technical Excellence: Thaman’s background score is an asset. He keeps the tempo with his techno sounding. The songs are neat. The cinematography is adequate. Dialogue writing is a huge plus.
Highlights: Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s acting Dialogues First half
Drawback: The third act
Analysis “DJ Tillu” is the latest Telugu crime comedy that completely puts focus on fun and humorous dialogues rather than the story or logic. As such fun films have tasted success, writer-actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda has presented another one packing in his funky manner.
“DJ Tillu” begins humorously. From the hero's appearance itself, sets the mood, and establishes the fact that it offers fun content, not a plot-driven movie.
The first half is highly entertaining as Siddhu takes the charge from the first scene and delivers humorous dialogues in a Telangana accent.
Even when the murder takes place, he comes up with comedy lines.
Whatever we have seen in the trailer happens in the first half itself – the love track between hero and heroine, murder and blackmail. But Siddhu with his acting and director Vimal Krishna with his narrative keeps us entertained.
Even in the second half, it offers some fun, but there is no story further to prolong it. The final act is completely a mess. The film ends abruptly as well, giving a hint of a sequel.
We don’t get to know Neha Shetty’s real intentions. Is she really a cheat or a victim of circumstances? The lack of clarity about her characterization and the unclear ending have made the film not get its due fully.
As we have seen in recent films like “Jathi Ratnalu '' and others, there is no logic to any of the situations. The court drama is an example. From judge to accused, everyone makes a mockery of proceedings. The hospital scenes are chaotic.
But these issues don’t matter when the film aims to provide just entertainment but nothing else. ‘DJ Tillu’ is a fun film that capitalizes on Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s wacky style. If you excuse uneven final moments, it makes a funny watch for the youth audience.

DJ Tillu review: Siddhu Jonnalagadda is a riot in this enjoyable crime comedy
The film places a bunch of oddball characters in edgy, eccentric situations but its main USP is its terrific dialogue

Bala Gangadhar Tilak a.k.a Tillu is an irresponsible yet innocent youngster, who settles for a largely non-happening career as a DJ. His parents are tired of lecturing about his life and more or less give up on him. Tillu meets a singer Radhika at a bar and is bowled over by her performance. Sparks fly between the two but there's a mysterious side to Radhika's life that Tillu is not quite aware of. All hell breaks loose when Tillu is at Radhika's residence on his birthday. He's in for a wild ride.
Slowly but steadily, Telugu cinema is inching towards a phase where storytellers are venturing beyond larger-than-life characters, recognising the significance of representing the common man's voice and concerns on the big screen. DJ Tillu is a welcome addition to this ever-growing list of films in recent times.
Tillu is like any other youngster you may meet in a busy street in Hyderabad - a 'pakka local' guy. He is innocent at heart, may appear outspoken, rude, even a flirt. He does not have any existential issues or big money at his disposal but is content in his little world. What if he's stuck with a dead body at his girlfriend's house on a night? That's DJ Tillu in a nutshell.
DJ Tillu works like magic on the screen because its writers (Vimal Krishna and Siddhu Jonnalagadda) look at Tillu sans any filters, have a complete understanding of his milieu, the way he behaves, dresses, speaks and reacts to situations. The consistency in Tillu's characterisation is visible throughout and the duo trusts the audiences to get him, and even entertain them in this process.
As a crime comedy, the film doesn't aim to break any new ground but the writer, director place a bunch of eccentric characters in a deadlock situation and maximise its entertainment quotient. Tillu, besides the dead body, is in the interesting company of a manipulative girlfriend, a womaniser cop, a disgruntled constable, a money-minded detective and clueless parents.
Make no mistake, there's no room for subtlety or sophistication here and even though the reactions to a few situations may appear on the face, the film does a good job of staying true to its ambience. The director also varies the tone of the film in both halves and ensures variety. While he establishes the crime scene in the first hour, comedy takes precedence in the latter.
The slick film walks the tightrope between silliness and comedy in the second half with the memory loss-angle to Tillu, though the move is justified well in the hilarious courtroom scene. While you're curious to know the world of the characters beyond DJ Tillu (who, at times, appear like caricatures) too, the writers are clear that this is a script driven solely by the merits of its lead character.
This is an out-and-out Siddhu Jonnalagadda show, so much that you're tempted to read between the lines of his real-life and reel-life avatars. Unlike the privileged characters he's played in films like Krishna and his Leela, Maa Vintha Gaadha Vinuma, he places himself in a massy terrain and performs the character with immense conviction.
The casting is top-notch. Neha Shetty in a grey character shines well in the first hour though her part takes a backseat later. (have they preserved her backstory for the sequel?) Prince Cecil is fantastic as a rich-spoilt brat with a weakness for women and is quite a natural in bringing the negative shades in his role to the fore.
The supporting cast works like dream, right from Brahmaji to Narra Srinivas, Fish Venkat and Pragathi Suresh. The on-screen parents of DJ Tillu are a hoot whenever they appear on the screen and the father-son confrontation sequences are a hoot. Three composers - Ram Miriyala, Sri Charan Pakala and Thaman - have worked on the film and the consistency in the tone is surprisingly seamless.
The dialogue, rooted in the Telangana slang, is still the heart of DJ Tillu - this will be the main reason why everyone from 16 to 60 will flock to the theatres.
DJ Tillu lives upto expectations and delivers exactly what its promises - a no-holds-barred crime comedy with wacky characters, terrific dialogues, catchy music and Siddhu Jonnalagadda in blazing form. When is the sequel coming?

What’s it about?
Tillu (Siddhu Jonnalagadda), a DJ in Hyderabad, lives in a false world. He claims to be a highly talented musician, leads a flashy lifestyle, despite his middle-class roots. When he falls for the attractive singer Radhika (Neha Shetty) at a club, he doesn’t know her background fully. Assuming that she’s a single girl, he flirts with her. In no time, they hit off.
After a few days, she lands in a murder incident. Shocked at the knowledge of her relationship with Karthik (Kireeti), who is now found dead in her home, DJ Tillu gets confused. How will he come out of the situation, and who really Radhika is?
‘DJ Tillu’ is a crime comedy. At the very beginning, it makes clear that the film doesn’t take itself seriously. No rhyme and reason, delivering fun matters. As is the case with most crime comedies, the protagonist lands in a crime situation without his/her direct involvement and tries to come out of it.
The first half of the film has many entertaining moments. Siddhu has delivered many one-liners that put us in splits. “DJ Tillu” is completely his movie. He wrote the dialogue and co-wrote the screenplay besides acting as the lead hero. He gets the Hyderabadi accent perfectly, peppers every dialogue with humor.
Despite familiar situations and regular screenplay, the first half of the film doesn’t make you think much. It ends quickly by making us laugh in many places. It seems the writer Siddhu and director Vimal Krishna seems to have drained the fuel itself after the interval point. Whatever that we see in the second half proves that they have taken things for granted and wrapped them.
There is no proper character arc for Neha Shetty. The hospital comedy and the entire mummery-loss angle are farfetched ideas. The penultimate episodes are not up to the mark.
As said above, Siddhu Jonnalagadda does everything. He is cool, gives an entertaining performance. He holds the film. Neha Shetty leaves a mark. Among other actors, Brahmaji is cool.
Thaman’s background score is another addition to the positive angles.
Bottom-line: ‘ DJ Tillu’ has a breezy first half loaded with fun dialogue writing. But the same cannot be said for the later part. The final moments are chaotic. Still, Siddhu as a writer and actor steals the show, and the film’s fun factor works.

\'DJ Tillu\' Movie Review
A quirky ride!
Film: DJ Tillu Cast: Siddu Jonnalagedda and Neha Shetty Director: Vimal Krishna Rating: 3
Story: What happens when a local DJ who is living under false prestige and a girl with a pragmatic approach hit it off instantly? A journey of fun and also of vengeance ensues!
Review: Bala Gangadhar Tilak aka DJ Tillu (Siddu Jonnalagadda) is a native Hyderabadi who loves to show off his DJ-ing skills during local celebrations. His father is against his profession, Tillu lives under false prestige, hoping to be a successful DJ one day.
It’s love at first sight for him when he sees singer Radhika (Neha Shetty). They instantly hit it off.
The film’s director Vimal Krishna established the lead characters early in the film – always a smart thing to do.
It’s a character-driven narrative, and the film takes off on a hilarious note! Siddu’s dressing style, his body language, his antics and gestures set the mood and lift the scenes.
Interestingly, Siddu also co-wrote the film, so he knew his strengths. Some of the dialogues in typical Telangana accent are very comical.
He gets entangled in a murder and tries to prove his innocence. And this is where the writing excels – Siddu manages to deliver funny lines that sound natural.
The director keeps the audience entertained for the entire first half. The love track between Siddu and Radhika and the predicaments are portrayed in an amusing way.
Just when the audience becomes curious about how Tillu and Radhika will solve their murder mystery, several characters are introduced - and the crime comedy loses steam during the second half. There were one too many characters. Had the filmmaker stuck to the main characters, the film would have been more impactful.
Director Vimal Krishna also tries to weave in an emotional angle between Tillu and Radhika and it only adds to the humour.
Though Neha Shetty is adequate, her character lacks panache
The hospital episode from where the film’s pre climax begins could have been more crisply written. The filmmaker has taken a lot of liberties when it comes to scenes revolving around Siddu’s memory loss. However, the background score is one of the saving graces and a great add-on.
Siddu needs to be appreciated for pulling off the title role with elan. He was apt for the part and does his role convincingly while creating an impression as a writer too.
On the whole, DJ Tillu is a breezy entertainer that has elements of fun and quirkiness. The writing was cool, but goes overboard towards the end. Watch out for Siddu’s characterisation and performance.

Siddhu Jonnalagadda has struck the right chords with Guntur Talkies, Krishna And His Leela. He is back to entertain youths with DJ Tillu. The film’s promos became a rage. Does the film live up to all the expectations? With no further delay, let’s check out.
What is it about?
Tilak alias DJ Tillu (Siddhu) hails from an ordinary below middle-class family with high aspirations. He is a rookie DJ who works for local functions. He meets beautiful singer Radhika (Neha Shetty) at a pub and it changes his life. Radhika gets embroiled into murder and DJ Tillu gets at the centre of the crime. What are the obstacles that come Tillu’s way? How he comes out of the whole mess forms the crux of the story.
Performances
DJ Tillu has a one-man show. It’s none other than Siddhu Jonnalagadda whose timing, dialogues, demeanour and body-language are perfectly in sync. Siddhu has done it all with ease and appears naturally. He looks like a boy-next-door. His Telangana accent and diction are flawless. Above all, he has a swag that swoons youth. Neha Shetty perfectly delivered what’s needed from her. She is an urban girl who has her priorities. After a while, Prince Cecil got a decently written role. He is okay in it. Tillu’s parents get noticed with their antics. Brahmaji has got a meaty role as Circle Inspector. Narra Srinivas, Fish Venkat are alright. All of its cast did a good job. Pragathi is a surprise element in the film who adds to the humour quotient.
Technicalities
Debutante director Vimal Krishna did a neat job in writing and direction. He delivered a crime comedy with youthful elements. The treatment is what stands out in DJ Tillu. It is fresh, urbane and refreshing. Siddhu Jonnalagadda, besides playing the lead actor, co-written the story and screenplay along with Vimal. This helped him to breathe life into the character of Tillu. Thaman’s music and background score worked well. Despite some lag here and there, overall, the film is crisp. The film’s run-time is its advantage.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda Laugh Riot Dialogues Racy Screenplay
Thumbs Down
Lag at portions Hero-Heroine Love Track Second Half Over-the-top comedy
Right from the word go, DJ Tillu attempts to be hilarious. In fact, it does work most of the time. There is rib-tickling comedy throughout. Thanks to Siddhu Jonnalagadda who pulled off the film on his shoulders. Debutante director Vimal Krishna along with Siddhu made DJ Tillu an engaging crime comedy. Despite all this, Tillu works only partially. The film has no unique story. On surface, it has very ordinary story of a murder mystery where the culprits try to avoid police and other parties. But what separates it from the ordinary films is its fresh treatment. Comedy The racy screenplay is an icing on the cake.
But the film has its own shortcomings. There is lag at some portions. How the girl Radhika falls for the guy Tillu is not convincing enough. The makers took their share of cinematic liberties. Those are passable. Also, the comedy becomes loud and goes overboard at times. Barring these, DJ Tillu delivers what is expected from it. Good thing is that there are no clichés. Hero’s friends won’t try to eat the screen time to generate fun. It is the protagonist who fills the space of comedy. His character sketch in the film is maintained well thoroughly. The hero suspecting heroine is one of the biggest fun generating things in the film. The investigation process goes haywire. The court-room scenes are funny and there is a twist that lifts up the second-half which goes on predictable note till then.
It follows the thread of Jathi Ratnalu that became a huge success after the first wave of Covid pandemic. DJ Tillu attempts this space of comedy after the recent wave of Covid pandemic. Tillu largely caters to audiences in single screens. The film is expected to have good reception in B & C centres. Also, it is a good watch for dates this Valentines Day. But family audiences may not be comfortable with some bold dialogues and scenes. On the whole, Tillu is a fun ride with bumps here and there.
Bottom-line: Fun Ride!
Rating: 2.75/5

A crime comedy that’s got an implausible story and narrative, yet provides crazy time pass fun with some solid laugh out loud moments. Siddhu Jonnalagadda is outright kickass here and manages to keep the movie engaging single handedly with his impeccable comic timing and hilarious Telangana accent. Neha Shetty plays her equivocal character in a convincing manner. The well written dialogues and Thaman’s thumping music add to the fun. It does lose steam in the third act with dull and abruptly rushed twist of events, but still provides good entertainment and ends up a good watch.

Siddhu has already arrived as a Screenwriter in the OTT during the pandemic, but oh how he has arrived as the leading man now with a screen presence all his own in holding the frames like a charm... A full house matinee at Sreeramulu Moosapet and nothing short of a star hero first-day experience where we don't get to hear the dialogues at many places! The way Siddhu delivered his lines be it at length or with those awkward pauses in between or with the raise of those eyebrows or how he calls Raadhikawwwwww... asalu navvi navvi sachhipothe evardi responsibility my dear T-Man ?

siddhu jonnalagadda gave his 101% in this performance. i really doubt this movie would be as entertaining and rewatchable as it is if it was anyone else in his place. ofc the story & execution are all over the place but his performance is just too entertaining. enjoyed it more on second watch because i stopped trying to make sense out of it and just enjoyed it instead, basically just turned my brain off like i did for Jathi Ratnalu .

I will never understand why tf people like this kinda trash. Quirky one liners and over the top characterization doesn't make a film. Calling this as mindless entertainer is a joke haven't enjoyed even for 10mins. Awful second half and really terrible ending.

DJ Tillu is a fun-filled entertainer which relies completely on it’s main man to lead the way and without a doubt, Siddhu Jonnalagadda can now be put into the elite list of new-gen raw talent of Tollywood which already has Vijay Devarakonda, Naveen Polishetty and Vishwak Sen. DJ Tillu is the story of Tillu and how his life changed overnight because of his girlfriend.
The first half of this film was a total blast and there were hilarious scenes at regular intervals. Even when there were no hilarious scenes, there was always Siddhu to constantly put a smile on my face with his unique body language and Telangana slang dialogue delivery. Neha Shetty was cute in a creepy role. The reverse-ageing…

Vimal Krishna along with Siddhu Jonnalagada readied DJ Tillu story. The story is just routine and turned out to be weak and the plot turned out to be wafer-thin. But Vimal Krishna with the interesting narration highlighting the character of DJ Tillu entertained movie lovers throughout the first half with fun-filled moments. The first half ended on an entertaining note though there are drags and repetitive scenes here and there. Expectations increased over the second half but here the director flattered to deceive. The second half went for a toss with uninteresting and illogical scenes and finally, the story ended in a rushed manner. Vimal Krishna managed to entertain viewers to some extent with his screenplay and direction. Had the story been strong enough, the result would have been even better.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda slipped into the role effortlessly. In fact, he lived in the role of DJ Tillu and captured the imagination of all with his style, mannerisms, expressions, and emotions. He impressed and made an impact with his dialogue delivery. His chemistry with Neha Shetty entertained movie lovers.
Neha Shetty oozed with glamor and entertained at the start of the film. She performed well showcasing her expressions accordingly and in an innocent and believable manner. However much to the disappointment of the movie lovers she got limited screen presence in the second half. Brahmaji performed well as a cop. Kireeti Damaraju got a limited screen presence. Prince Cecil is ok but went overboard and irritated viewers with his performance. Narra Seenu is ok in his role.
Sricharan Pakala and Ram Miriyala provided entertaining and foot-tapping songs and mass beats for the film. The songs became an instant hit even before the film's release and are well shot on screen. Thaman elevated the scenes with his thumping background music. However, at times, BGM turned out to be loud. The editing of Naveen Nooli could have been better especially in the second half as there are many drags that slowed the pace of the film. Dialogues are entertaining and fun-filled while dance choreography is good. Production values are good.

Rating Analysis
Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Vimal Krishna turned DJ Tillu into an entertaining one. Right from the start till the finish, they tried to take DJ Tillu on a fun-filled tide. Though DJ Tillu entertained with his style, mannerisms, and dialogue delivery, the weak script played the spoilsport. DJ Tillu flew high but came down with a thud with his bubble getting busted in the middle. Considering the slip in the narration, screenplay, and direction, CJ goes with a 2.5 rating for DJ Tillu.

Dj tillu movie review.
'DJ Tillu' is the latest box-office release in the town. Let's find out what works and what doesn't.
Bala Gangadhar Tilak aka DJ Tillu (Siddhu Jonnalagadda) is a self-styled DJ who thinks that he is a great talent. When he crosses paths with a pub singer named Radhika (Neha Shetty), he thinks life is going to be colourful. But he soon gets embroiled in a crime that is entirely of Radhika's making. What are Radhika's intentions? Will Tillu have salvation? How does he end up dealing with a cop (Brahmaji) and a shady dealer (Prince)? Find out in the movie.
Performances
Siddhu Jonnalagadda shows more ease than he did in 'Krishna And His Leela' and 'Guntur Talkies'. In his first major theatrical release, the actor-writer delivers comedy with simplicity and ease. More than classy characters, it seems characters inspired by people on the street suit him more.
Neha Shetty, who was spotted by Puri Jagannadh for 'Mehabooba', brings her experience of doing an acting course. In the role of a woman who is suspected by her boyfriend, she avoids easy acting gimmicks. Brahmaji and Prince are fun to watch, the former more than the latter. Fish Venkat and Narra Srinivas are roles. The actors who have played Tillu's parents are good.
Technical aspects
Avinash Kolla's art direction understands the milieu of Hyderabad. The visuals needed to be flashy and the art director acts as per his brief. Mouna Gummadi and Sahith Gummadi have taken care of the costume department with finesse.
But the film belongs more to its BGM composer Thaman. The star music director is superb! And the four songs (composed by Ram Miriyala and Sri Charan Pakala) are A-class. The cinematographer Sai Prakash Ummadisingu shows promise.
Actor-writer Siddhu Jonnalagadda , like actor-writer Adivi Sesh, knows his strengths. Just as Sesh found Ravikanth Perepu for 'Kshanam', Siddhu finds Vimal Krishna for his breakout movie 'DJ Tillu'.
Last March, it was 'Jathi Ratnalu' which was unapologetically slapstick and madcap. This year, it is the turn of 'DJ Tillu' to be a no-holds-barred crime comedy.
The trailer for 'DJ Tillu' pretty much introduced the conflict between Tillu and Radhika with a touch of naughtiness. There is a key element about Radhika's character that the trailer didn't reveal. The film unravels it in the first half and the drama takes off from there. A hilarious turn of events leads an elaborate episode in a hospital, where slapstick comedy is taken to the next level.
Brahmaji plays a cop who has his motivations. Prince plays an aficionado of antique pieces. These two characters add comical muscle to the film. The chemistry they share with Siddhu's character is more important than what they get to do around Neha Shetty 's character.
The film ends on an open-ended note. It seems Radhika and Tillu are up for something more crazy and emotional in the second part.
Closing Remarks
'DJ Tillu' was marketed as a crazy, youthful, unabashed comedy. It doesn't bank on its ordinary storyline. It taps into its lead man's superb comic timing, characterizations, and funny situations. Watch it!

DJ Tillu movie review – Partially Entertaining
DJ Tillu Movie Review
DJ Tillu is one small film that is making enough noise all over. The trailer and the songs packed a punch. DJ Tillu is a youthful urban rom-com directed by Vimal Krishna. Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Neha Shetty played the lead roles in this quirky comedy. Brahmaji and Prince played other important roles. The film is hitting the screens on Saturday during the Valentine’s Day week. Sithara Entertainments are the producers and Sricharan Pakala, Ram Miryala are the music directors. Here is the film’s review :
Story : Bala Gangadhar Tilak aka DJ Tillu (Siddhu Jonnalagadda) is a middle-class youth and an amateur DJ. Radhika (Neha Shetty), professional singer, gets herself in trouble in a murder case. The movie shows how Tillu helps Radhika escape the ordeal.
DJ Tillu takes off superbly with refreshing plot and racy screenplay. Hero Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s dialogues and his ease in performance sets the theme in the right mode in the first few scenes. The contemporary songs add to the flow and the first 50 minutes of the film is a breeze. After the accidental murder of her boyfriend Radhika seeks Tillu’s help and the duo is on the run as they get chased by a professional drinker (Narra Srinu), a club owner (Prince Cecil) and a police officer (Brahmaji). With everything in place for the makings of a great entertainer – the second just fizzles out thanks to overconfident writing and lack of an engaging plot.
Fun fact – we can see DJ Tillu doing everything expect the actual DJ work, barring the initial scenes. Pretty much a crime comedy genre, the movie has nothing to do with his profession – so you wonder why the title refers to ‘DJ’ role. Director Vimal Krishna has succeeded in getting the youth elements correct in initial episodes but seems clueless in executing the ‘On the run’ script. Court episodes with Pragati as judge are ridiculous, reckless writing in the guise of comedy.
Music director Sricharan Pakala’s songs are already a decent hit and the picturization is good on a couple of songs. Thaman’s background score suits the DJ theme in first half but is very loud and annoying in second half.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda is cool most part. Neha Shetty as Radhika is very average. Prince Cecil as a pervert is annoying. Brahmaji and Narra Srinu characters fail to generate any laughter.
Positives : • Siddhu‘s characterization • Dialogues • Trendy music • Thaman’s BGM in the first half Negatives : • No story, silly plot • Entire second half is boring
The movie DJ Tillu has an entertaining first half which is trendy and connects with the youth audience. Entire second half is farcical and boring. Overall, this 1 Hour 55 minutes film is more of OTT standards than the mainstream cinema. Given the pre-release buzz this film might generate some revenue at the box-office.

DJ Tillu Movie Review : Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Neha Shetty steal the show Times Of India Thadhagath Pathi, TNN, Feb 12, 2022, 01.35 PM IST Critic's Rating: 3.0 /5
Release Date : February 12, 2022 123telugu.com Rating : 3/5 . Starring: Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Neha Shetty, Prince Cecil, Brahmaji Director: Vimal Krishna Producer: Suryadevara Naga Vamsi Music Director: Sricharan Pakala, Thaman SS (Background Score) Cinematography : Sai Prakash Ummadisingu Editor: Naveen Nooli
Siddhu Jonnalagadda's DJ Tillu, the latest madcap comedy, is filled with loads of fun and quirky characters that it deserves a red carpet reception. The plot of the film is not witty but has everything it needs for a youthful entertainer. It is a rare film without too many characters -- not even a sidekick for the protagonist.
The first hour is a riot anarrated with sharp humour and Tillu getting the best lines. It nearly becomes a one-man show as Siddhu gives it his all to play the eccentric character, owning the swag ...
Analysis. "DJ Tillu" is the latest Telugu crime comedy that completely puts focus on fun and humorous dialogues rather than the story or logic. As such fun films have tasted success, writer-actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda has presented another one packing in his funky manner. "DJ Tillu" begins humorously.
Sparks fly between the two but there's a mysterious ...
Bottom-line: 'DJ Tillu' has a breezy first half loaded with fun dialogue writing. But the same cannot be said for the later part. The final moments are chaotic. Still, Siddhu as a writer and actor steals the show, and the film's fun factor works. By: Jalapathy Gudelli . Rating: 3/5. Film: FIR
12 Feb 2022 2:03 PM GMT. \'DJ Tillu\' is a breezy entertainer that has elements of fun and quirkiness. A still from the film DJ Tillu. A quirky ride! Film: DJ Tillu. Cast: Siddu Jonnalagedda and ...
Rating: 2.75/5. Tags DJ Tillu.
DJ Tillu is a fun-filled entertainer which relies completely on it's main man to lead the way and without a doubt, Siddhu Jonnalagadda can now be put into the elite list of new-gen raw talent of Tollywood which already has Vijay Devarakonda, Naveen Polishetty and Vishwak Sen. DJ Tillu is the story of Tillu and how his life changed overnight because of his girlfriend.
DJ Tillu Review. Published at: Sat 12th Feb 2022 01:05 PM IST. Director: Vimal Krishna. Producer: Suryadevara Naga Vamsi. Release Date: Sat 12th Feb 2022. Actors: Siddhu Jonnalagada. DJ Tillu Movie Rating: 2.5 / 5.
6/10. 2 hr long Jabardast skit. best-review 12 February 2022. The movie features eccentric characters within a frivolous storyline. While the screenplay fails to captivate, the dialogues provide moments of amusement. Unfortunately, the second half of the film proves to be excessively tedious.
The trailer for 'DJ Tillu' pretty much introduced the conflict between Tillu and Radhika with a touch of naughtiness. There is a key element about Radhika's character that the trailer didn't reveal. The film unravels it in the first half and the drama takes off from there. A hilarious turn of events leads an elaborate episode in a hospital ...
DJ Tillu: Directed by Vimal Krishna. With Sidhu Jonnalagadda, Neha Shetty, Brahmaji, Acharya Srikanth. A lazy young man spends his time chasing girls, until an incident changes his life forever.
Rating : 2.75/5. DJ Tillu Movie Review: Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Neha Shetty starrer DJ Tillu, helmed by Vimal Krishna, produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, has hit the theaters on 12th February ...
DJ Tillu Movie Review. Release Date: February 12, ... Siddhu finds Vimal Krishna for his breakout movie 'DJ Tillu'. Last March, it was 'Jathi Ratnalu' which was unapologetically slapstick and madcap. This year, it is the turn of 'DJ Tillu' to be a no-holds-barred crime comedy. ... Critic's Rating. 3/5. Latest Tollywood News 'Kannappa': THIS ...
