Blended Learning -An Approach in Philippine Basic Education Curriculum in New Normal: A Review of Current Literature

This qualitative research focused on literature reviews. The method utilized was document analysis. The articles were from 2010-2020 taken from different websites and documents from libraries of Hokkaido University of Education and Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College. The results showed blended learning started three decades ago, specifically for higher education institutions (HEIs), also used in graduate programs and professional development. But in 2007, in the Philippines, the Center of Blended Learning started and had very positive responses from the parents and students. Moreover, blended learning (BL) is adopted in subjects like English explicitly in Language, Science, and Distance Learning. The use of BL in education helps students engage positively in all activities and increased behavior towards learning, and empowered to become leaders, coaches, and mentors to fellow students. Teachers, as necessary instruments for effective implementation of BL, the conduct of professional development is vital. In the country, DepEd proposed to use online learning, modular approach, radio-television methods, face-to-face, and para-teachers for blended learning. But the lack of facilities like gadgets or computer sets, and connectivity in the Philippines is a unique challenge to DepEd. The education sectors asked help from different government agencies and private individuals and organizations to support the proposals. This study suggests tapping experts to conduct studies BL to help the education system in the new normal. Each school must document all the positive and negative experiences with BL. DepEd consolidates all the collected undertaking during a pandemic and creates a framework to enhance blended learning.

Today, educational landscape in the higher learning has changed because of the concept of blended education. Communication and information technologies provide a great impact by means of access to digital devices and collaborative communication in all courses. The challenges and struggles in transitioning the teaching and learning methods were evident to learners, leading to different factors that affected students' performances. Thus, this study aims to determine the opportunities and challenges for Bachelor of Elementary Education learners in blended learning at a university in Visayas, Philippines. This study utilizes a qualitative descriptive research design that produces information from an individual's viewpoint of events or experiences. Ten learners of Bachelor of elementary education were purposely selected as respondents. This study employed thematic analysis to analyze the learners' experiences in their learning process. With the data gathered, five themes were formulated. The result shows the significant impact of blended learning on BEED learners. Whether face-to-face setup or online setup, the learning is still there, and they were able to adjust and adapt to the new learning strategy. It is recommended that future researchers explore and deepen the understanding of blended learning to enhance students' performance in both settings.

The general purpose of the present research is to analyze the current situation of applying the blended learning in the primary schools in contrast to the desired and expected situation. This research is a descriptive-survey one and is applied in terms of its purpose. The research community consists of all managers and head teachers, experts and teachers in the primary schools in Islam Abad Gharb, Kermanshah, in the 2017-2018 academic year and their statistics are 650 people during research. Based on the Morgan Table, 242 people were selected and analyzed by means of stratified random sampling. A researcher-made questionnaire was prepared and distributed in the schools to analyze the current state and the desired situation for blended learning. The face validity and content validity were confirmed by the expert professors and its reliability was 0.99 by means of Cronbach alpha in the current can desired situations. Central parameters and scattering parameters were used to carry out descriptive analysis. Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, one sample T-test. Friedman Test and SPSS® were used to carry out inferential analysis. The findings showed that the mean of all components is lower than the medium size in the current situation and is higher than the medium size in the desired and expected situation. Moreover, a significant statistical difference was shown between the current and desired situations and there was a difference between using the components of blended learning in the current situation and applying them in the desired and expected situation of the schools.

The Study Determined the Blended Learning Modality in Selected Island Elementary Schools of Northern Palawan. The study showed that respondents "moderately agree" among all the problems they encountered during the new modality in terms of respondents' responsiveness and learning delivery. While, the learners "agree" that they learn in modular learning and "moderately agree" that they learn in radio-based instruction. – Blended learning is a mixed learning that combines several different delivery methods such as self-directed learning and web based discovering that incorporates a portion of the accommodations of online courses without the entire loss of face to face contact. This study aims to provide a discussion of the various potential of blended learning in the context of one ASEAN classroom setting. The present study used a pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design to determine the effect of blended learning approach among graduate students' academic performance. Findings revealed that the graduate students' academic performance was greatly influenced by the use of blended learning approach. Evidence is provided to suggest that blended learning is potentially meaningful when utilized as medium of instruction to enhance both the viability and productivity of significant learning outcomes. This study recommends the use of blended learning approach in teaching among graduate school students.

Abstract Teaching methods are now of interest to educators and teachers, so that they can choose methods and strategies that interact with students. From kindergarten to university. The method of “blended learning” as a new and modern method after the significant advances in educational technology, the demand for its use has increased. This is because it does not rely solely on e-learning, which isolates students from social interaction, but also to use and master modern technologies alongside face-to-face learning. This review study aims to demonstrate the effect of blended teaching on students' academic achievement, based on a review of previous research, especially selected research. Create perspectives and overviews concerning the effects of blended learning on students’ academic achievement. The study was conducted among a selection of six different studies, in different countries. (H.K. Grønlien et al. 2021) in Norway, (K.-A. Berga, et al. 2021) in Canada, (Sh. A Syan, et al. (2021)) Egypt, (Nofvia De Vega, et al. 2023) and (Rina Nur Hidayati, et al. 2023) in Indonesia and (JIANG et al. 2023) in Mainland China. Five of them are the research community of nursing students and one is the language learning department. After searching the title and subject of the review, it relies heavily on research conducted between 2020-2 The selection of studies from different environments and cultures allows us to look at the results from a broad and diverse perspective. Research results suggest that blended learning as a new approach affects the learning process to varying degrees. The majority of the selected studies show the effect between high and moderate. All of them support the use of blended learning as a new pedagogical approach. They recommend to education agencies and officials to pay attention to it. This review systematically worked on design information, methodology, geography, population, year and outcomes.
