Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1 is an Assignment in Hogwarts Legacy. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1 assignment quest.

Location :  The Belltower Wing -> Flying Class Lawn Quest Giver: Madam Kogawa Quest Level:  Level 5 Requirement:  Having Finished Main Quest: The Map Chamber Reward:  Glacious Spell, 150XP Mission Info:  Madame Kogawa has conjured a number of balloons around the Hogsmeade Station and the Quidditch pitch. She wants me to use my broom to reach and pop them.

Objectives:

Pop balloons over Hogsmeade Station x5

Pop balloons around the quidditch pitch x5, return to madam kogawa, starting location: madam kogawa’s assignment 1.

Follow the quest marker and fly with your broom over to Hogsmeade Station and fly through all five balloons there.

After popping all balloons at Hogsmeade Station follow the quest marker over to the Quidditch Pitch and fly through all five balloons there.

Now follow the quest marker and go to Madam Kogawa, she will teach you Glacius, the freezing spell, now.

How to Complete Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1 – Hogwarts Legacy Walkthrough

For a denizen of the Wizarding World, a Broom is as vital a means of transportation as a car is for us Muggles. This is why Broom-usage is a steadfast subject at Hogwarts, and why you’d do well to take any opportunity you can to master it. Here’s how to complete Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1 in Hogwarts Legacy .

Madam Kogawa is one of your many teachers at Hogwarts in Hogwarts Legacy, specifically that of the Flying class. The school isn’t allowing anyone to play Quidditch right now, unfortunately, but she’s still encouraging everyone to learn proper Broom-handling techniques, you included. Her first assignment will get you properly acquainted with Broom control, and there’s a pretty nifty reward in it for you as well.

For Madam Kogawa’s first assignment, you’ll need to travel to a couple of nearby locations on your Broom and pop some balloons she’s deployed. You can use your wand to pop them if you like, though just flying right into them also works fine. We’re not actually playing Quidditch here, so we don’t need to get too fancy about it.

Madam Kogawa’s Balloon Locations

The first batch of balloons can be found floating above Hogsmeade Station. They’re bright blue with a yellow star painted on them, so as long as you’re flying on your broom, you won’t miss them. There’s one right above the station proper, one slightly to the east, one above the rails to the south, one between the trees to the north, and one above a small incline to the west.

Next, head to the Quidditch Pitch on Hogwarts grounds. It’s the big ovoid stadium directly west of Hogwarts proper. You’ll find one ballon smack in the middle of the stadium, one between the northeastern stands, one between the southwestern stands, another one right beneath the southwestern stands, and one behind the western stands.

Once you’ve popped all ten balloons, return to Madam Kogawa, and she’ll reward you with the motion for the Glacius spell. What does freezing stuff have to do with flying? You ever tried standing in a wind tunnel in December? That’s what.

It only makes sense that the Flying Instructor wants you to use your broom for her extra assignments. Not exactly sure what flying has to do with learning the Glacius spell (maybe it’s cold when you fly), but you will have to fly around Hogsmeade Station and the Quidditch Pitch to pop five balloons at each location. Most of them are fairly easy to see and pop, but some can be hidden.

In case you forgot the flying controls, here they are:

Pop Balloons Over Hogsmeade Station

The quickest way to Hogsmeade Station, which might not be overly obvious on the World Map, is to fast travel to the Hogsmeade Floo Flame location. As you might have discovered already, you can’t use your broom in Hogsmeade. Walk south out of town, then you can jump on your broom and fly over to the station. The big balloons in the air should make it obvious, but you can also track the quest to make sure you don’t get turned around.

The one balloon that could trip you up is hidden in the trees on the southwest side of the station. After popping all the balloons in this location, it’s on to the next one!

Pop Balloons Around the Quidditch Pitch

It is actually a fairly short flight over to the pitch from the station, but if you really want to be speedy, you can fast travel to the Hogwarts North Exit Floo Flame. Once there, it is much the same; fly around and pop balloons on your broom.

Again, the only one that is partly hidden is in the southwest, nestled against the cliff. After flying into each balloon, you can make your way back to Madam Kogawa.

A lot of balloons were popped in the making of this guide.

To be able to learn a couple of extra spells that will come in handy in either combat scenarios or simply adventuring through the world of Hogwarts Legacy , you need to do the assignments of your professors.

In this guide, we shall show you what you need to do in order to pass Assignment 1 of Madam Kogawa . Let’s get started.

Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1 Guide – Hogwarts Legacy

These here are the objectives that Madam Kogawa will give you in her first assignment:

• Pop balloons over the Hogsmeade Station – 5
• Pop balloons over the Quidditch Pitch – 5

Pop Balloons Over The Hogsmeade Station

You shall need to arrive near and on top of the Hogsmeade train station. This will be just a little bit to the south of Hogsmeade town and east of Hogwarts Castle .

Once you get here, you need to have a flying mount or a broom because you will need to fly through the balloons themselves. There are a total of 5 balloons that need to be taken care of. So simply look up at the sky and you can see them easily.

If you do not have access to those items, simply progress through the game long enough until you unlock them.

Pop Balloons Over The Quidditch Pitch

You shall need to head on over to the Quidditch Pitch station as it is shown in the picture above.

For this to be actually possible, you need to unlock a flying mount or a flying broom . If you do not have any of these items, it means that you won’t be able to destroy the balloons.

You cannot shoot at them from a distance. You just need to mount up and fly through them. There is a total of 5 balloons over the pitch and you need to hit all of them. They are all around the pitch so you will see them easily.

Madam Kogawa's Assignment 1  is an Assignment  in  Hogwarts Legacy . Madam Kogawa's Assignment 1  is a flight assignment that tasks you with popping balloons over Hogwarts  and Hogsmeade while riding your broom. Madam Kogawa's Assignment 1 Hogwarts Legacy Walkthrough

The first two objectives of this quest can be done in any order.

Pop balloons over Hogsmeade Station (x5)

Head to Hogsmeade Station in the southeast of Hogsmeade . Mount your broom and pop the 5 large balloons floating around the station. They should be easy enough to spot and are not too scattered about.

Pop balloons around the Quidditch Pitch (x5)

Head over to the Quidditch Pitch, close to the Hogwarts  North Exit. Mount your broom and pop the 5 balloons around the area. Make sure to account for elevation as some are located high above or down below, and also check behind the audience stands on the outer edges of the pitch.

Return to Madam Kogawa

Once the objectives are complete, make your way back to Madam Kogawa and report your success. She will then teach you the Glacius  spell. Follow the onscreen prompts to recreate the wand movements and learn the spell, ending the quest.

Hogwarts Legacy – Madam Kogawa’s Assignments

Before you can perform any of Madam Kogawa’s Assignments in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll need to purchase a broom for 600 gold from the Spintwitches Sporting Needs in Hogsmeade.

Assignment 1

The first assignment from Madam Kogawa becomes available after taking the book to the Map Chamber with Professor Fig during the main story. She will task you with popping 5 balloons over Hogsmeade Station and another 5 balloons around the Quidditch Pitch. First, travel to Hogsmeade Station, which can be found southeast of Hogsmeade. Next, you’ll need to pop the balloons by flying through them while on your broom. Afterwards, travel to the Quidditch Pitch, which can be found west of Hogwarts, and pop the balloons there. After you pop all 10 balloons, head to Madam Kogawa’s office near the Flying Class Lawn Floo Flame at the Bell Tower and speak with her to learn the Glacius spell.

Assignment 2

Madam Kogawa’s second assignment will unlock after some time passes from completing the first one. She’ll task you with popping 5 balloons near the Spires and another 5 by Keenbridge Tower. The Spires can be in the hills southwest of Hogwarts while the tower is southeast of Hogwarts near Keenbridge. After popping all 10 balloons, visit Madam Kogawa in her office near the Flying Class Floo Flame at the Bell Tower to learn Arresto Momentum.

Completing Madam Kogawa’s first assignment will reward the player with the Glacius spell, which is more commonly known as the Freezing Spell. This spell grants the player the ability to freeze objects and enemies, will can be extremely useful for many quests throughout the game.

In combat scenarios, the Glacius spell allows you to freeze enemies solid, allowing you to defeat them with ease. This is extremely useful in battles against a singular enemy rather than a group.

To obtain Glacius, you need to complete Madam Kogawa’s first Assignment, which involves using your broom and travelling to specified locations. We'll break down everything you need to know, so you can get the spell easily.

Hogwarts Legacy Glacius quest pre-requisites

Before you can take on Madam Kogawa’s first assignment, you need to each at least Quest Level 5, and complete The Map Chamber in the main questline. Once you meet the requirements, simply head to the Belltower Wing in Hogwarts and you will meet Madam Kogawa, who will hand you her first assignment. You will need a broom to complete the assignment, so make sure you complete your first Flying Class to unlock your very own flying broom.

If you don't have a broom yet, keep progressing the main story until you run into Jackdaw’s Rest, which will lead up to your first Flying Class near the main lawn. You will eventually head to Spintwitches Sporting Needs as you progress the quest, and you will be able to obtain your first broom. The shop is located across from Ollivanders’ wand shop.

How to unlock Glacius in Hogwarts Legacy

Madam Kogawa’s Assignment involves popping balloons over Hogsmeade Station and ones above the Quidditch Pitch in Hogwarts. Follow the quest markers to head to Hogsmeade Station, which is located on the northeast side of Hogwarts. All you need to do after you reach the location is to pop the balloons while you are on your broom. You can activate your broom anywhere outside of Hogwarts from the item menu. You just need to go through all of the balloons while flying, and they will pop automatically.

After you take out all of the balloons at Hogsmeade Station, head back to the Quidditch Pitch, and you will notice more balloons. The fastest way to reach the Quidditch Pitch is by fast travelling to the Mooncalf Den fast travel spot. Just like the previous quest step, hop on to your broom and fly through all of the balloons once you are in the quest area.

Once you are done popping all of the balloons, head back to Madam Kogawa, who is located just outside Hogwarts castle. Talk to her to complete the Assignment, and she will teach you the Glacius spell.
