In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry. Why is this the case? What can be done about this problem? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge. Write at least 250 words.

Recent years have witnessed tremendous developments in agricultural science yet every day people all over the world continue to suffer and even die from hunger. In my opinion, this is because innovations rarely impact the developing world and the best solution for it is to direct humanitarian funding towards these advances.

The main cause of more advanced agricultural methods not reaching the people who need it the most is that the developing world has trouble implementing these methods. there are a number of reasons for this ranging from limited financial resources to poor existing infrastructure to political instability, depending on the country in question. one example of this would be in many african nations, where malnourishment has historically been highest. countries like the congo have seen revolution after revolution over the last several decades, which has effectively destabilised the entire country. the universities where students would learn about changes in agriculture are frequently shut down or destroyed. the young people who would become agricultural scientists end up drawn into the conflict as soldiers or victims. long-term economic neglect means that the government has very limited ability to subsidise farming. these problems are present to varying degrees in countries around the world and offer one possible explanation for the continued prevalence of hunger., the solution that i believe would be most effective is directing humanitarian funds previously focused on food aid towards education and agricultural infrastructure. food aid is a notoriously poor solution because it only offers an immediate solution and warlords often exploit it to support their continued mistreatment of their people. it hurts more than it helps. however, there would be better long-term effects if international organisations and governments redirected that money into helping build better farms, provide more modern equipment, and sending qualified professions to train people in need. there is a tedtalk by a young man in kenya who built his own windmill out of old bicycle parts and by reading Thanks to the development of agriculture, we can enjoy various kinds of foods including tropical fruits and vegetables almost anytime and anywhere. However, there are still a lot of people who are suffering from hunger. One of the reasons is that mostly developed countries take advantages of the advances and the solution is to provide help to developing countries financially and technically. Most of the advances made in agriculture have been placed in developed countries. With humongous lands and enough financial support, well off countries have invested a lot in new technologies in agriculture. A good example is USA, which harvests the most rice and corns in the world. On the other hand, most developing countries, which have more people who go hungry, could not take advantages of developed agriculture because they don’t have enough budget to invest as well as skills to support. To improve the current situation, some developed countries, which need to feed their own people, need more supports financially and technically. The biggest barriers to improve agriculture system are money and skills. If global institutes can help them both financially and technically, they can use their big size of lands and relatively cheap labors to grow more foods to feed their own people. In conclusion, it is true that we have advanced agriculture system, but not all of the people are taking advantage of it. Developing countries don’t have access to developed technologies, and we can fix this problem by providing them both financial and technical supports globally.

All countries are dependent on agriculture for fulfilling their needs in satisfying the hunger of people. Starvation and hunger are two clearly visible things which made governments concerned around the world. With evolving Science and technology, there have been adoption of new methods, hybrid seeds, genetically modified crops, modern tools and equipment. Still, there are countries where people sleep hungry. The other reason is ever growing population. No matter how much the world produce, there will always be someone left unfed. With time, population is growing and the resources we have are limiting. Although the advances in agriculture are remarkable, yet these aren’t able to feed the malnourished population, as the land remains limited and more farming land being turned to residential areas. This results in limited harvest and cultivation, thereby limited crops and food resources. Or, in other words, we may say that the rate with which the developments in agricultural practices and farming in advancing is lagging behind the rate of growth in world population year-on-year. The population which was once 3 billion after world war second has now reached close to 7 billion by 2020. The other reason clear reason is capitalism. Though some nations across the world are self-sufficient, yet they are not able to help poor nations because of one reason or the other. Capitalism is great in some sense for some nations but that should not make nations get away of the basic moral responsibility of humanity to support the poor people who are not able to buy or produce their own food. The developed and technologically advanced nations having more finances and resources remain more interested in progress of their own without paying heed towards nations dealing with poverty due to lack of resources and insufficiency. As a result, these people from specific nations remain malnourished and destitute. United Nations Organisation is helping those poor nations in Africa but it seems not enough to support the cause when there are millions of people who still go to sleep hungry. To sum up, the advancements in agriculture is being subsided and bypassed by the increase in population. This trend is not seen being reversed easily in near future until and unless the humanity across the world acknowledge the hunger, thirst and insufficiency of identified societies across the world and take immediate discernible steps on ground as soon as possible.

Although، particular areas are deprived of the boon of these developments. in my opinion, critical conditions are the dominant rationale and charity foundations can lend a hand to solve this problem. Take sub-saharan nations which are suffering from starvation and law-quality farming as an example, have neither sufficient budget to gain the Innovation licenses nor well- educated experts to apply them or even teach national students. only handful companies in developed countries holds monopoly of technological advancements in science in general and in agriculture in particular which are not affordable by undeveloped or even developing countries. Moreover, students in these areas often have to leave school to help their families to make ends meet. In the long term there will be lack of plant scientist professors and excellent farmers to change their current situations. Combating hunger is not an easy task. If charity organizations spend the billions of dollars that go into providing food on installing agricultural modern equipment as well as cutting-edge irrigation system then perhaps poor areas residents would reap more products from their plantations. Native pupils education to become competent farmers and knowledgable professors can also be the other alternative promising destination for financial aids. Yes, that is the structure I used but you can write about the problem and solution in the same paragraph – that is fine too!

For most questions yes, though if it is a problem/solution or a two-part question then it is not always important to say ‘In my opinion’ as long as you are answering the task.

Over the past centuries, the human race has made remarkable advancements in the field of agriculture but the problem of food scarcity still remains. The problem could not disappear since the progressions made nowadays require technical knowledge that may not be possessed by the people in need. This essay will explain the reason behind the problem and suggest a probable solution to tackle the issue.

The advancement of our agriculture in recent years has always relied on technology. This will increase the efficiency of our food production, but the application of the knowledge and technology may be exclusive to some parts of the world only. As a result, the developing countries that need to boost their food production might be hindered by the complexity of such technology. For example, we could take a look at the popular hydroponics system which made it possible for human to produce a large number of crops in secluded space efficiently. The system would not work on poor and less educated countries such as Zimbabwe, because of the sophisticated nature of the system.

One of the suggestions to tackle the problem is by mass creating a small-scaled plug-and-play hydroponic system to ease the assembly and creation of the system. Hopefully, this could be applied on every household to assist with food production to the community. The size of the system will make it easier and cheaper to maintain, even with little technical knowledge of the device.

The inequality of technological knowledge is seen as the stem of food scarcity in parts of the world despite the advancement in agriculture, but the creation of a proven small-scaled system such as plug-and-play hydroponic system could help to tackle the problem.

It is clear that, although we are employing a lot of cutting-edge Technologies to agriculture, many people all over the world still have to suffer from starvation. There are many reasons for this problem but we still have some ways to overcome it.  In my opinion, the first reason we have to mention is that, nowadays, the world population is drastically increasing, however, there isn’t enough land to grow the sufficient amount of food for everyone, as we have despoiled much of the soil and turned many verdants into hostile deserts. Moreover, climate change has also resulted in the lack of food. Massive floods, hurricanes, etc  have destroyed several crops, and global warming has dramatically reduced the amount of freshwater, which is essential for any trees, plants and animals to survive.  On the other hand, we have come up with a lot of ideas to deal with the issues. First, we should try to improve the methods of growing crops indoors. That can provide plants and animals with optimum conditions to develop. In addition, as there are no insects or grass in the hothouse, we will no longer have to be contingent on pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers,and we can raise the crops organically. What’s more, the crops can be grown all year-round without being affected by extreme weather or temperature. Second, we should try to improve the soil quality by growing more sustainable trees and stop destroying the environment. Last but not least, because most famines happen in undeveloped countries, the governments of these nations should try to boost their knowledge and find solutions to their current economic problems, as well as to improve the quality of life.  In conclusion, it is undeniable that the technology advances can’t completely solve the problems of food is efficiency, there are still many other solutions that can be applied

From the last decade, considerable advances in agriculture have taken place worldwide, even though unfortunate nations still suffering from hunger. Many advances developed to boost organic food, good crops and even GM food have not been being enough to reduce the detrimental in nourishment in some unfortunate countries. Two main logistic and political factors contributed to this underlying cause of starvation.

The connection between innovation and social benefits sometimes is unclear or even non-existent. Is incredible the number of studies generated to conduct further generation to a new stage in human evolution such as intensive farming using growth hormones and heavy pesticides to not only preserve the crops also to boost the industrial yields.  However developed countries’ food yields are by far growth than those in developing countries, which can result in mass malnutrition in those misfortunate populations such as Africa where the lack of basic resources and poor existing infrastructure, destabilized their farming sector. Additionally, the political instability reduced subsided farming and reduce their people growth cutting their opportunities, for example, young workforce ending up drawn into the conflict as a soldier or foreign workers in other countries due to lack of opportunities in agriculture to cultivate or harvesting to cope their family expenses, and as a result, families suffering from malnourishment or even getting starvation diet as an only option. 

Although fortunate nations witnessed tremendous agricultural developments and innovations, they are suffering from a large amount of food waste in the biggest cities. The best way to tackle hunger is by implementing both immediate and long-term solutions. For instance, governments working together to increase the food aid distribution, whereas other sustainable strategies would take places such as humanitarian and farming funding towards worker training and industrial investments. In addition, getting control of governmental instability such as corruption can result in major access of the population to quality life and preserve their roots and their cuisine of high nutritional value cultivating their good crops. 

To conclude, it is clear to developed countries that despite being overnumbered hunger population worldwide, they are not working hard on generating a connection between agriculture innovation and human necessities in developing countries. It requires quicker solutions to cope with immediate requirements, and additionally generate sustainable strategies which could develop the nations’ wealth.

I think the main reason is limited practice of agricultural innovations only by developed countries and this can be tackled by economically assisting the underdeveloped countries. The principal cause is wealthy nations are taking advantage of agricultural scientific methods. This is because these economically stable countries like Russia, America, and Europe and so on, have been employing genetic engineering techniques which not only grow the crops quickly and faster but also accessible to their residents in abundance. According to World Health Organization developed countries would be producing 5 times more genetically modified food in next few decades and would be the biggest food producers in the world. However; developing nations are still utilizing the old farming methods such as ploughing, sowing and harvesting and irrigation techniques which are not enough to feed the country’s population. In order to effectively fight chronic food deprivation and to take the maximum benefit of stat-of-the-art agricultural technology is to provide financial aid and resources economically unstable countries; this can be done purely on humanitarian ground. Funding should be directed towards education, skill development and tools to make weak nations aware about new methods. This would help them in the long run, it would not only enhance the food output but also increases the country’s economy. A country’s economic resilience has a direct effect on its nutritional resilience. By empowering nations to produce their own food, they can be better equipped to handle future food challenges. In conclusion, only wealthy countries have been benefited from agricultural advances and making tremendous progress, although the issue can be tackled by helping the underprivileged countries with finance and necessary resources.

Introduction

Sentences 1&2 – Paraphrase the topic with the use of synonyms to create a base understanding of it.

Sentence 3 – Elucidate that the essay will discuss both the sides of the topic.

Body Paragraphs

Paragraph 1 – Talk about how scientific advancements have helped agriculture – talk about HYV seeds, machinery, new irrigation techniques etc. to explain the positives of the same.

Paragraph 2 – Explain the opposing point of view in the form of organic farming – what it is and why it is gaining prevalence in today’s time.

Summarise the previous paragraphs and state your views.

Ever since humans started to practice agriculture, we have developed newer, more coherent ways to facilitate a better crop yield. In recent times, this trend takes help from chemical and synthetic materials, which has drawn some flak and ire from people worldwide, while the remainder rejoices the same. This essay will try to understand the point of view of either side of this discussion.

To begin with, the introduction of scientific advancements in agriculture has reaped supreme returns. Through these advancements came drip irrigation, chemical fertilizers, insecticides, tractors, etc., that have multiplied crop yield. Moreover, scientists have “farmed” meat in the utmost recent developments. In other words, they have grown meat in laboratories from tissues and cells, which means that if practiced widely, animal and bird slaughter can become a thing of the past.

On the other side, organic farming is also gaining colossal pace. It simply means practicing agriculture without resorting to any chemical or synthetic products. That is to say, right from seeds to manure, everything is 100% natural. It is done because chemicals have a drastic impact on the environment as they can seep into the groundwater and contaminate nearby water bodies, affect humans negatively, and defile the quality of the soil.

To summarise, one cannot ascertain in absolution whether scientific advancements are better than organic farming or vice versa. Both have positives and pitfalls , and both of their implementations vary. Nevertheless, both have helped humanity in their own ways, and both still seem to be doing largely good deeds to people across the world.

• Flak  

Meaning – strong criticism. Example – Even Einstein was called a madman, his theories getting flak from every one.

Meaning – anger. Example – The plan to cut down a forest to create highways has provoked the ire of locals.

Meaning – receive (something, especially something beneficial) as a consequence of one’s own or another’s actions. Example – His father had bought a piece of land about twenty years ago. He sold it last month and reaped the monstrous profit of it.

• Contaminate  

Meaning – make (something) impure by exposure to or addition of a poisonous or polluting substance. Example – The industrial waste has contaminated the river.

• Ascertain 

Meaning – find (something) out for certain. Example – How can a person ascertain if ice cream is better than cake?

Meaning –  logical and well-organized Example – During the interview, he spoke in a coherent way which impressed the judges.

Meaning – cruelly and unfairly kill a lot of people or animals Example – Do you remember when the king planned to slaughter his whole kingdom in the war?

Meaning – extremely large Example – Our Principal took a colossal step in opening the school gates for the needy people during the flood.

Meaning – problem that is likely to happen Example – Do not be afraid of pitfalls in your life; because once you overcome them, you will always rise.

Meaning –  to make foul, dirty, or unclean; pollute Example – The man, unknowingly, defiled the temple grounds.

An Overview of the IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to measure English proficiency for educational, vocational and immigration purposes. The IELTS measures an individual's ability to communicate in English across four areas of language: listening , reading , writing and speaking . The IELTS is administered jointly by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment at over 1,100 test centres and 140 countries. These test centres supervise the local administration of the test and recruit, train and monitor IELTS examiners.

IELTS tests are available on 48 fixed dates each year, usually Saturdays and sometimes Thursdays, and may be offered up to four times a month at any test centre, including Shchelkovo depending on local needs. Go to IELTS test locations to find a test centre in or nearby Shchelkovo and to check for upcoming test dates at your test centre.

Test results are available online 13 days after your test date. You can either receive your Test Report Form by post or collect it from the Test Centre. You will normally only receive one copy of the Test Report Form, though you may ask for a second copy if you are applying to the UK or Canada for immigration purposes - be sure to specify this when you register for IELTS. You may ask for up to 5 copies of your Test Report Form to be sent directly to other organisations, such as universities.

There are no restrictions on re-sitting the IELTS. However, you would need to allow sufficient time to complete the registration procedures again and find a suitable test date.
