My favourite food is sushi. I have always been a fan of Japanese cuisine, and sushi is one of the dishes that I can never get enough of. The combination of fresh fish, sticky rice, and seaweed is simply irresistible to me.

One of the reasons why I love sushi so much is because of its versatility. There are so many different types of sushi to choose from, whether it’s nigiri, sashimi, or rolls. Each type has its own unique flavor and texture, making it a truly satisfying meal.

I also love the presentation of sushi. The vibrant colors of the fish and vegetables, the delicate arrangement of the rice and seaweed, and the artistic drizzle of soy sauce and wasabi all come together to create a visually stunning dish. It’s like a work of art that you can eat.

Another reason why I love sushi is because of its health benefits. Sushi is a low-calorie, high-protein meal that is packed with essential nutrients. The fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for the heart and brain. The seaweed is a good source of vitamins and minerals, and the rice provides a good source of carbohydrates for energy.

Essay on My Favourite Food in 1000-1500 Words

Food is an essential part of our lives. It not only provides us with the necessary nutrients and energy to function but also brings joy and comfort. Everyone has their own favorite food that they crave and enjoy. For me, that favorite food is pizza.

Pizza is a popular dish worldwide, loved by people of all ages. It is a versatile dish that can be customized to suit individual preferences, making it a favorite for many. The combination of a crispy crust, savory sauce, gooey cheese, and a variety of toppings makes pizza a delicious and satisfying meal.

One of the reasons why pizza is my favorite food is its versatility. There are countless variations of pizza, allowing me to choose different toppings and flavors depending on my mood. Whether I am in the mood for a classic pepperoni pizza, a veggie-loaded supreme pizza, or a gourmet pizza with unique toppings like prosciutto and arugula, there is always a pizza that satisfies my cravings.

Another reason why pizza is my favorite food is its convenience. Pizza is easily accessible and can be delivered right to my doorstep, making it a convenient option for a quick and satisfying meal. Whether I am too busy to cook or simply craving a delicious slice of pizza, I can always rely on this beloved dish to satisfy my hunger.

Furthermore, pizza is a comfort food for me. There is something comforting about biting into a warm slice of pizza, with the melted cheese stretching as I pull it away from the rest of the slice. The combination of flavors and textures in each bite is a comforting and satisfying experience that never fails to put a smile on my face.

In addition to its taste and convenience, pizza holds a special place in my heart because of the memories associated with it. I have fond memories of enjoying pizza with friends and family during gatherings and celebrations. Whether it was a birthday party, a movie night, or a casual get-together, pizza was always a crowd-pleaser that brought everyone together.

Moreover, pizza is a dish that can be enjoyed in various settings. Whether I am dining out at a pizzeria, ordering delivery to enjoy at home, or making my own homemade pizza, the experience of eating pizza is always enjoyable. I love the anticipation of waiting for the pizza to arrive, the aroma of freshly baked pizza filling the room, and the satisfaction of taking that first bite.

Despite the many reasons why pizza is my favorite food, there are also some criticisms of this beloved dish. Some may argue that pizza is unhealthy due to its high calorie and fat content. While it is true that some pizzas can be indulgent and calorie-laden, there are also healthier options available, such as thin-crust pizzas with vegetable toppings.

In conclusion, pizza is my favorite food for a variety of reasons. Its versatility, convenience, comfort, and the memories associated with it make it a beloved dish that I always enjoy. Whether I am craving a classic pepperoni pizza or a gourmet pizza with unique toppings, pizza never fails to satisfy my cravings and bring joy to my taste buds. I will always have a special place in my heart for pizza, and I look forward to enjoying many more slices in the future.

Sushi: A Research on My Favorite Food

My favorite dish is sushi, which is a collective name for a variety of different preparations. There is sashimi, which is just fish, nigiri which consists of fish and rice, and rolls, which can have a multitude of different ingredients. The dish is Japanese in origin, though many cultures have raw fish preparations, like Polynesian culture and Peruvian as well. While raw fish is often considered to be the central ingredient, the key to sushi (except sashimi ) is the special rice that defines the dish. Sushi's history is steeped in folklore. One story is that in ancient Japan, a woman was hiding her rice in osprey nests so that it would not be stolen. The rice was ferment slightly, and the ospreys would leave bits of fish. The combination of fish and fermented rice was considered to be delicious, and that it also served to preserve fresh fish a little bit as well (Avey, 2012). By the mid-1700s, the rice was being prepared in a formal way, using cooked rice that was seasoned with rice vinegar as an accompaniment to fish. The layers were compressed in a box for two hours, sliced and served (Avey, 2012). The next development in the preparation of sushi came in the 1820s in Edo (now Tokyo). A vendor with a good location near a bridge developed a quicker version of the process, where the cooked rice, vinegar and salt were let to sit for a few minutes, delivering a "quick fermentation" process. The sushi was then hand-pressed with a ball of rice and a slice of fish from the

The Tuna Industry And Its Effects On The Oceanic Ecosystem

Despite the unparalleled popularity of bluefin tuna in today’s sushi industry, it has not always been this way. The tuna had too strong of a taste for the Japanese palette who preferred milder species of fish, however this all changed post-WWII. Japan underwent a rapid transformation from a war torn state into a global economic power in a matter of decades. The original type of sushi was developed in Southeast Asia and spread to south China before being introduced to Japan sometime around the 8th century. Fish was salted and wrapped in fermented rice. A type of dish called Narezushi was made of this gutted fish which was stored in fermented rice for months at a time for preservation. The fermentation of rice prevented the fish from spoiling. The fermented rice was later discarded and the fish was the only part consumed. But few people saw throwing the rice was a waste and so decided to eat the rice with the sushi. Thus sushi was

Is Sushi Healthy? Dietitians Break It Down

preview for This Spicy Salmon Bowl Is Even Better Than A Sushi Roll

Certain foods have an undeniable health halo, but it can be tricky to know whether that reputation is earned. That can lead to you wondering if what you’ve heard is legitimate. Case in point: Is sushi healthy?

Meet the experts : Deborah Cohen, D.C.N., R.D.N., an associate professor in the department of clinical and preventive nutrition sciences at Rutgers University School of Health Professions; Christy Brissette, M.S., R.D., owner of 80 Twenty Nutrition in Laguna Beach, CA; Tara Gidus Collingwood, M.S., R.D.N., owner of Tara Gidus Nutrition Consulting in Orlando, Fl.

Nutritionists break down what to expect in the nutrition department when you enjoy sushi, plus how to ensure the sushi you enjoy is a healthy choice.

Is sushi good for you?

“It all depends on what you order,” Brissette says.

She explains it this way: A salmon avocado roll would have around 300 calories and contain heart healthy fats and protein. “On the other end of the spectrum, a shrimp tempura roll could be over 500 calories and high in inflammatory fats due to the deep-fried shrimp and mayo drizzle,” Brissette says.

Eating fried foods regularly also raises the risk of developing heart disease and obesity, she points out. So, if you constantly reach for a tempura roll, it’s not a healthy choice. But if you incorporate rolls into your diet that feature fish and vegetables that aren’t fried, sushi can be good for you.

Can sushi help with weight loss?

Sushi may help with weight loss, but it’s not a guarantee. “Sushi is typically eaten in very small portions—0.5 to 1 ounce of fish which, when served on top of sushi rice has about 40 to 60 calories, and small portions can help control calorie intake,” says Deborah Cohen, D.C.N., R.D.N., an associate professor in the department of clinical and preventive nutrition sciences at Rutgers University School of Health Professions. Rice also contains fiber, which increases the odds you’ll feel full after you eat it, she says.

But sushi can also be packed with calories. Philadelphia rolls, which contain cream cheese, can have 300 to 500 calories per roll, while firecracker rolls can have 400 to 600 calories per roll, Cohen points out. “In general, most rolls when they do not contain cream cheese or mayonnaise-type sauces, are relatively low in calories,” Cohen says. “Bottom line: Eating sushi will not promote weight loss, but sushi can be a healthier option compared to fast food and many options available at restaurant chains.”

Sushi nutrition information

There is a wide range of sushi rolls you can have, but one of the most popular types is the California roll. Here’s what you can expect for nutrition when you eat one piece of a California roll, according to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA):

Calories : 28

Protein : 0.87 grams

Fat : 0.2 grams

Carbohydrates : 5.5 grams

Fiber : 0.3 grams

Sugar : 0.6 grams

(Keep in mind, of course, that many people eat six pieces per sushi roll, and often more than that in one sitting.)

What is the healthiest sushi to eat?

There are a lot of options for healthy sushi. Cohen lists off several that are healthy, including California rolls and tuna rolls, while adding that "any vegetable, salmon or rainbow rolls are all healthy."

Brissette is partial to salmon avocado rolls. She says these "are a great choice because you’re getting protein and heart healthy omega-3 fats from the salmon and monounsaturated fats, fiber, folate, and potassium from the avocado."

You can make it even healthier if you make it with brown rice and use low sodium soy sauce as a dip, she says.

Health benefits of sushi

There are a few potential health perks you can get from eating sushi.

It’s an easy way to have fish

Many health organizations recommend having fish in your diet, but it’s not a food that’s common in many American diets. The American Heart Association (AHA), for example, suggests having fish twice a week. (The organization specifically recommends focusing on fatty fish.)

“Sushi can help you meet the recommended two to three servings of fish a week,” Brissette says. A typical serving of fish is 4 ounces, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

It may help lower inflammation in your body

The fish in sushi contains omega-3 fatty acids which “may help with reduced inflammation,” says Tara Gidus Collingwood, M.S., R.D.N., owner of Tara Gidus Nutrition Consulting in Orlando, Fl. Bodily inflammation is linked to a slew of serious health conditions, including autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular disease, and gastrointestinal disorders, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

“The ginger, wasabi, and nori—seaweed to wrap fish—all have good antioxidant properties,” Collingwood says.

It’s heart-healthy

When you choose fatty fish like salmon, tuna, and mackerel you’ll get EPA and DHA, “which are heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids that can help lower triglycerides and blood pressure,” Brissette says.

It may boost your bone health

Fatty fish is “an excellent source of vitamin D, which supports bone health and can help lower inflammation and support your immune system,” Brissette says.

Potential risks of eating sushi

There are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to sushi.

You could get a foodborne illness

This is one of the biggest risks of eating sushi. “Consumption of undercooked or raw fish always has risks related to foodborne illness,” says Cohen. That includes the risk of salmonella infection, vibrio vulnificus, and parasitic tapeworms, the Cleveland Clinic says.

It can spike your blood sugar

“Many of my clients don’t realize that a typical sushi roll contains about a cup of rice,” Brissette says. “Because the rice is packed so tightly to make the rolls, it’s harder to gauge how much you’re getting.”

Sushi is usually made with white rice, which can cause your blood sugar to spike and drop quickly, Brissette says. “That can leave you feeling hungry, weak, grumpy, and tired,” she adds.

There’s a mercury risk

Mercury is a toxic metal that’s found in most types of fish, and having a lot of mercury can make you sick, Collingwood says. “Mercury can be a concern if eating swordfish or a lot of tuna,” she says. “If you stick with mostly salmon, shrimp, and other white fishes, they are low in mercury.”

The takeaway

Overall, dietitians say that sushi can be a healthy part of your diet. “Sushi can fit in a healthy eating pattern,” Cohen says. If you want to make sure your sushi is as healthy as possible, Brissette recommends avoiding rolls that are fried and those that contain cream cheese. You can also try sushi made with brown or black rice to add more fiber, she says.

Overall, though, “sushi is relatively low in calories, fat, and contains protein,” making it a healthy choice, Cohen says.

Has Sushi Become Our Favourite Food?

Jamie Mah

Track and Food

If it has, is this a good thing?

“…if ten years ago I would have suggested to launch global fast food that would be raw fish wrapped in black seaweed, people would have said, “that’s crazy, that’s impossible.” But that’s exactly what happened. When one thinks of globalization, one thinks of McDonald’s becoming the common homogeneous American food around the world. But there you have sushi, which is this improbable food that is now becoming a global type of fast food .” — Moises Naim, interview for PBS on “The Globalization of Sushi: The Interconnected World”

I’ m going to be honest here, I love eating sushi. I mean, I really do. It’s absolutely delicious. But let’s talk about sushi shall we.

Sushi’s popularity is undeniable, and it’s rise as one of our top foods now rivals, if not surpasses, that of burgers and pizza. To put it bluntly, we’ve become a full fledged sushi loving society.

But, unlike eating a tomato or a raspberry, which can be grown and re-grown each season, has our love of fresh fish served on a bed of vinegar’d rice gone a bit too far?

I ask this question because I’ve seen first hand how much people enjoy sushi. I’ve worked in two sushi restaurants and both delivered excellent food and both we’re extremely busy. But, at what cost? Salmon and tuna are by far the dominant players in the sushi game. Their depletion due to commercial over fishing has been reported and talked about for some time now. I know this. So do you. Yet, we continue to storm into sushi joint after sushi joint like it’s no big deal. Why is that?

As I lament the sad state of affairs of the human race — that is, our ability to turn a blind eye to pretty much anything so long as we profit from it — I’d like to look at this sushi dilemma from both sides of the coin. On one side, I’d like to examine the pros for eating sushi, such as: it’s obvious health benefits, it’s reach within the economy (especially here in Vancouver) and the positive initiatives being done to help foster it’s sustainability (i.e. OceanWise). But I’d also like to look at it’s flip side: how sushi’s exponential growth has helped fuel the demise of fish stocks and how this affects our economy and environment in a negative way, as well as the part sushi has played in the growth of fish farms and their impact on local ecosystems.

As I examine both sides of this coin I urge you to keep an open mind. Whether you’re for or against eating sushi, it’s global rise as a dominant food cuisine has brought with it much debate. How this conversation unfolds over the ensuing years will, I believe, set the stage for how sushi is consumed in future generations. If our fish populations collapse, as this article posits, then how do we recover? Or will we? In either case, let’s take a look and see what some of our options are.

Breaking down sushi into it’s component parts we see that there are many positive benefits to eating a diet rich in raw fish, wasabi, nori and rice. As per Cindy Hsin-I Feng’s study, ‘ The Tale of Sushi: History and Regulations ’, she cites the following:

  • proven health benefits for the heart and immune system
  • wasabi is rich in beta-carotenes, glucosinolates, and a range of isothiocyanates, which have antibacterial properties and help mitigate microbial elements or latent pathogens
  • wasabi helps reduce excess mucus in the chest and nasal cavities that sometimes aggravate asthma conditions
  • seaweed contains high amounts of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, iodine, and sodium
  • seaweed’s predominant health benefits is its ability to remove radioactive strontium and other heavy metals from the human body

The FDA has also stated the following: “…a qualified health claim for reduced risk of coronary heart disease for conventional foods that contain eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), both omega-3 fatty acids, typically contained in oily fish such as herring, tuna, lake trout, and salmon.”

The component benefits are there. A diet dense in high proteins, healthy fats, beta-carotenes and minerals carries with it the allure for many diet-conscious individuals. The fact that sushi is delicious is even more enticing. Eating a sushi rich diet is good for you — science backs it up.

However, lets also not forget this little fact: the average life expectancy of someone from Japan is the highest in the world at 83.7 years according to the the World Health Organization, which published these findings earlier this year. In the US, average life expectancy is 79.3 years, while here in Canada that statistic sits at 82.15.

Now, I understand a lot of factors go into these results, namely: genetics, lifestyle. and social issues. However, I will suggest that diet plays a large role, one I personally believe is more important than many would expect. As the saying goes, “you are what you eat”, and the Japanese eat a lot of sushi, hence they’re seen as, and are, a healthy society. Sushi’s healthy perception therefore, is a positive benefit and thus must be accepted for its global rise in popularity.

From a micro economic view, here in Metro Vancouver we currently have over 600+ sushi restaurants. For an area of approximately 3–4 million people, that’s a lot of sushi consumption, and it’s no surprise to see why. As a port city, and one easily accessible to Japan, our multicultural diversity has helped foster and support a burgeoning economy of sushi fanatics. Add to that our access to high quality fish and the results speak for themselves.

The obvious economic reach here comes in the form of work. Jobs for fisherman, hospitality (chefs, servers, etc.) and construction. Many of these individuals run small businesses who depend on our love of the California roll. Sushi’s economic benefits are enormous. Taking this away is not an option. But staying on the track we’re currently on shouldn’t be one either. Hold that thought.

With regards to sustainability, Oceanwise is a not-for-profit run by the Vancouver Aquarium. The tag line on its website reads as follows: “Ensuring Healthy Oceans for Generations to Come.” It’s a pretty bold statement coming from a local conservation organization. I commend them on their stated efforts. However, regardless of their success rate, their platform — to raise awareness of the global seafood epidemic we all face — is one worth pursuing even in the face of insurmountable odds.

Their efforts with regards to fish supply and consumption are focused primarily on 4 criteria: the following comes from their website

  • Abundant and resilient to fishing pressures.
  • Well managed with a comprehensive management plan based on current research.
  • Harvested in a method that ensures limited bycatch on non-target and endangered species.
  • Harvested in ways that limit damage to marine or aquatic habitats and negative interactions with other species.

If compliance to these four standards is something all restaurants and suppliers aim to do, then we’re in good hands. But a closer look at some of the partners mentioned on the OceanWise website reveals the shortcomings in their reach. Of their over 700+ restaurant partners only 16 by my count, in Vancouver are from Sushi restaurants. 16!!!!!!!!!!

Cue John Oliver …HOLY SHIT!!!!

That’s a small number.

Now let’s say I missed another 10, and we bring the count up to 26, even that leaves a huge gap in how many sushi restaurants there are versus those who are sourcing their fish responsibly through OceanWise. Now to be fair, a few could be doing their own bit of OceanWise sourcing, but I doubt it’s any more than 5 tops. Invariably, this should leave a bad taste in your mouth knowing that everyday we continue to eat from unsustainable sushi restaurants.

Again a lot of the onus is on us, the consumer, as we’re the ones clamoring for certain fish, like tuna and salmon when in a way we probably shouldn’t. So in a weird way blaming restaurateurs, many of whom are small businesses trying to make a buck and stay alive in this extremely expensive city, would be unfair. As most companies do in a capitalist society, you do whatever is necessary to stay afloat, even if that means cutting corners or offering a product that isn’t ideal in terms of sustainability and environmentalism. As former NBA player turned ESPN analyst Jalen Rose would have you say . “GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT!”

So in all fairness most of the blame (fish depletion, farmed fish) should land on us. We want tuna and salmon, so we’ll get tuna and salmon, and we’re okay with turning a blind eye to everything that happens before we take that first bite. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Education can shine a light on issues that many of us don’t realize are problematic.

With regards to OceanWise, they’re a local organization and even though they’ve recently expanded their scope, this problem of seafood sustainability is a global issue, one we all share. Full global co-operation is necessary to move on. But getting every nation on board is kind of a big task and many individuals and countries prefer the status quo.

The Japanese love tuna, Bluefin in particular, and it’s part of their culture and heritage, so asking them to all of a sudden change how they eat and what they eat is, well, asking a lot. Much in the way a nation can elect a black president one day, a move of proper progressiveness, then go in the complete (racist, shitty, holy hell what have we done?) opposite direction a few years later showcases how change is slow for many and is never in a straight line.

Even when looking at the global issue of high seas fishing, how it’s done, the damage to fish stocks it causes and the sheer amount of over fishing, what we see is a tremendously difficult issue many feel is impossible to contain, as many sides see the issue in drastically different ways.

“Just as the industrialized countries are starting to realize the need for more sensible management of the high seas, developing countries are heading in the opposite direction. “Developing countries firmly believe they have a right to expand their fisheries and that developed countries should reduce their fishing effort to compensate.” — Ziro Suzuki

The issue extends even further once the problematic, exclusive economic zones or E.E.Z. of coastal countries become free access to those who fish outside of 200 miles from a countries coastline. The rise in E.E.Z fishing has grown by up to 700% according to the Sea Around Us project of the University of British Columbia’s Fisheries Center. And a vast majority of this growth has been fueled predominantly by tuna consumption. A lot of this is completed by the fishing technique of purse seining in which fish are essentially trapped in a big purse like net.

In catching fish, more specifically tuna, this way, fisherman can either sell the fish as is or bring them to fish farms for further growth. This practice is nowhere illegal, but it does and can have harmful consequences . Bycatch is a problem and depletion of an entire school of fish in one fell swoop (no pun intended) is the other. Unlike mackeral, which tend to swim tightly together and are thus more easily catchable with the use of purse seining, tuna tend to swim with other tuna. Skipjack, bigeye and yellowfin can often be found together, creating a problem when trying to selectively source out which fish are intended to be caught. Add to that the bycatch of sharks, rays, dolphins, turtles, etc…that are caught, and the whole system can become a mess rather quickly.

This eventually leads to the whole fish farm issue. Is it good for the environment? How healthy are the fish? Do they taste the same? All these questions have been posed by many and regardless of where you land on this topic, being for or against farmed fish isn’t going to make it go away. Much in the way we selectively chose to rear certain animals for consumption, most notably cows, pigs, chicken and turkeys, we’re now in a world where, for economic reasons, doing the same with our seafood has not only become a viable option but in a way, a necessary one. The consequences are dire, and I urge you to watch this little film to see for yourself how bad it can be. But again, in very much the same way Food Inc. caused many of us to flee from eating meat, documentaries like this one could sway you — but for most of us, it won’t.

So what do we do about this problem?

The issue at hand is simple. We love sushi and we love eating certain types of fish, most specifically tuna and salmon. Since a large majority of both now come from fish farms or are on the endangered list (ie. BlueFin Tuna) we can either choose to ignore the problem or change our eating habits and preferences. It’s that simple. Embarking on a Green Peace style attack isn’t what most of us want or can do. We have other things to worry about. But again, I have a problem with their form of protest. Yes, pirate fisherman and overfishing practices need to be halted, but doing harm to people who are just trying to make a living isn’t going to solve the issue.

It starts with us.

Education and responsibility can go a long way towards rectifying most situations.

For me personally, I say eat away at your local favourite sushi joint. Go often. But just try to make smarter choices. Ask questions. Where is their fish sourced? Look on endangered lists. See which fish you should and probably shouldn't consume. Try newer options. Eat salmon and tuna but maybe not every time. The system is built for us. We demand, they provide. The potential for change lies with us.

Sushi, in my opinion, has definitely become one of, if not our favourite food. Understanding the system around it’s consumption will go a long way towards maintaining its status quo.

FAQ about My Favorite Food Essay & Paragraph

We need food to provide our bodies with the nutrients and energy they require to function properly. These nutrients include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. Without enough of these nutrients, our bodies can’t grow and repair tissues, produce energy, or properly regulate functions such as our immune systems and metabolism.

It’s okay to enjoy your favorite foods as part of a balanced diet, but it’s important to remember that variety is key to a healthy diet. Eating the same foods repeatedly can lead to nutrient deficiencies and make your meals less enjoyable. It’s important to include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats in your diet to ensure that you’re getting all the necessary nutrients. Additionally, having a balance diet can also help prevent chronic disease.

Fast food is often high in calories, saturated fat, sugar, and sodium, which can contribute to weight gain and an increased risk of chronic health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure when consumed in excess. It is important to be aware of the nutritional content of the fast food you are eating and make informed choices.

Eating fast food occasionally as part of a balanced diet is generally okay. However, it is not recommended to make a regular habit of eating fast food, as it can contribute to nutrient deficiencies and displace healthier food choices. Instead, it’s better to prepare meals at home using fresh, whole ingredients, which can be more nutritious and allow you to control the ingredients and portion sizes.

When writing about your favorite food, it’s important to be descriptive and use sensory language to convey the taste, texture, and appearance of the food. Here are a few tips on how to write about your favorite food:

  • Start by describing the appearance of the food. What does it look like? Is it colorful or monochromatic? Is it smooth or chunky?
  • Next, describe the texture of the food. Is it crunchy, chewy, or soft? How does it feel in your mouth?
  • Then, describe the taste and flavor of the food. What are the dominant flavors? Are they sweet, savory, spicy, or sour? Are there any unique or interesting flavors that make this food special?
  • Share the history and cultural background of the food. It can be interesting for the reader to know where it comes from and how it is traditionally consumed
  • Finally, explain why it is your favorite food. What is it about this food that you love? How does it make you feel? How often do you eat it?

Remember to be honest, specific, and use vivid language to make your writing come alive.

It is hard to make a list of the 10 most favorite foods in the world as different cultures have different tastes, preferences and cuisines. However, here is a list of some foods that are popular and well-loved globally:

  • Pizza – a dish made with a wheat flour base, topped with tomato sauce, cheese, and various toppings.
  • Sushi – a Japanese dish made with vinegared rice, raw fish, and vegetables.
  • Pasta – a dish made from wheat flour, eggs, and water, usually served with a sauce.
  • Tacos – a Mexican dish made with a tortilla, filled with meat, beans, cheese, and vegetables.
  • Fried Chicken – a dish made by marinating chicken in a mixture of spices and flour before deep-frying it.

  • Ramen – a Japanese dish made with Chinese-style wheat noodles, meat, and vegetables in a broth.
  • Hummus – a Middle Eastern dip made from chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, and spices.

Again, this is not an exhaustive list, and there are many other delicious and popular foods from around the world that could be included.

Narrative Essay: My Favourite Food

Though I have never been fat, I can understand why some people get that way. There are times when I think there is not enough choice in the world when it comes to food, and I feel like I have eaten every type of meal at least 100 times–and then there are times when there is so much good stuff on offer that I simply need to try them all at one time. There are times when I walk around supermarkets and see sliced salmon for sandwiches, quarter pounders with cheese, honey glazed ribs, marshmallow covered pancakes, and toffee pavlova, and I want it all right now. Here are my favourite foods and why I love them so. Toffee pavlovas are brilliant when still frozen

The toffee pavlova is already a brilliant idea because you have meringue on the outside that is crunchy and sweet, and you then have the cream on the inside, which is fluffy and fresh, and on the top, you have soft caramel. They are good as a fresh treat, but are great whilst partially frozen because the cream inside turns to ice cream.

Self-made pizzas using store bought pizzas

Buy a cheap deep-pan pizza from the frozen section at your local store. Buy some tomato paste and cream, and mix it to make a paste. Add a little seasoning to the paste and microwave it to make it warm. Stir it well and smear it on your pizza. Now add grated cheese and toppings. The once-mediocre store-bought pizza is now a homemade success.

Mixed sushi packets

There are mixed sushi packets you can buy in your local supermarket. They are not cheap, but they are also not as expensive as going to a sushi restaurant or bar. The great thing is that they usually come with a little sauce that you can use on them. Scoffing them down one at a time usually provides a mouthful of deliciousness. Even the vegetarian versions are delicious.

Frozen mixed fruits with double cream

There are boxes of ready-picked fruits you can buy. They are usually comprised of pickable cherries and berries. Wait until they are mostly defrosted and drain off the juices to drink on their own. Then, mix some double cream into the box of fruits and chow down whilst it is still cold. The cream will stick to the fruits because the cold makes it harden up and attach itself to the fruit.

Chinese and honey glazed ribs

These are just great to eat no matter how you make them. If you are on a diet, then throw them in a pan, add a little water and boil them because most of the sauce and grease will stay in the pan. If you are already healthy, then fry or oven bake them. You can even put them on a barbeque if you microwave away a little of their rawness first.

Sliced salmon that is eaten alone or on sandwiches

There is nothing finer than salmon slices so long as it is responsibly farmed, and it is even better if it is on offer. The slices can be eaten alone or on a sandwich. They are also fun to eat for lunch on top of a baked potato with added feta cheese.

There are so many great foods that it is tough to pick a favourite, but as a favourite snack, there is nothing better than tuna chunks in sunflower oil that has been poured into a bowl of mixed salad and then the salad has been tossed using the tuna and oil as dressing. It is a taste that never gets old and can be eaten at any time of the day.

The food that I love the most in this world is Sushi for the reason that I can eat it in a diversified manner. Sushi is regarded as a Japanese representative dish which is commonly consumed by people from around the world. Sushi is made of fishes, shrimp, greasy tuna, egg, sauces, boiled rice, and squid. In fact, you can add fruits and vegetables like avocado, mango, and potatoes in it as well on. The most favorite part of eating Sushi is that it tenderly melts in my mouth, and each sushi is having an exceptional a distinctive flavor. There are many kinds of sushi available; my most favorite one is Tobiko for the reason that it is having the most excellent taste convulsive with different types of fishes and sauces that get dissolved in my mouth. Sushi is mostly soft and tender, but adding shrimps in it makes it crunchy and crispy. Recently I have tried a sushi that had chunks of oranges and mangoes in it which ultimately enhanced the flavor of sushi. When I was a kid, I was not interested in eating sushi as I use to feel that eating raw tuna fish is not going to be so appetizing and luscious. One day at the Japanese restaurant sushi was served with oyster and chili sauce; that was the time when I considered to try eating it and after that sushi turned out to be my favorite food. Sushi is undoubtedly very delicious. Nowadays, sushi is served in all the restaurants in a different shape to make it look more tempting and alluring. Sushi is often served with various sauces to make it tastier. Another type of sushi that I prefer to eat is a sushi which is being served in a hot bowl of soup. I get pleasure from eating sushi added in a bowl of soup when I am at home because it is scrumptious and uncomplicated at the same time. My mother typically makes sushi for me on my birthday, and she serves it with mashed potatoes and baked cheese sauce. Sushi is often served with omelet and pancake at the breakfast as it boosts up our energy level as well. Sushi has a mixture of sweet and sour taste that makes it more delicious and unavoidable. In Japan, sushi is regarded as the trademark of all the well-known chefs. It is my dream to visit Japan so that I can get a chance to eat the Japanese traditional sushi that is wrapped up in real leaves instead of seaweed. In recent days, sushi is being wrapped with cucumber and rice paper as well. I love eating squid sushi because it has a semi-transparent and shiny appearance. Sushi is sliced delicately and typically served with a tempting fish sauce that is sandwiched between the tuna fish and the rice. Sushi required an exceptional food making technique make it stiffer so that the food that has been stuffed inside the seaweed does not start to fall. Sushi is certainly my favorite food; I totally find it irresistible, and my parents love it too. My family and I regularly go to seafood restaurant once in a week to eat sushi. Sushi is vigorous for the body, and it is simple to digest, and mouth-watering at the same time. The most important thing about sushi is that is the perfect food for a diet, along with that, it is not so expensive.

My Favorite Food Essay | What Makes A Favourite Food?, My Favorite Food Essay for Students and Children

March 3, 2023 by Prasanna

My Favorite Food Essay: Do you know your own favourite food? Do you like it because it tastes good or because it reminds you of home? In this essay, we shall explore what makes a particular food a favourite and why. There are many different opinions on what is a favourite food. For some people, their favourite food might be something sweet whereas for others it could be a savoury dish. Some of the most popular choices as a favourite food include pizza, burgers, sushi and pasta. In addition to this, flavours also play a role in what is a favourite food.

Some people prefer something with a strong flavour whereas others prefer something light and subtle. In addition, the variety of cuisines makes it hard for people to decide which cuisine they like best. The best way to choose a favourite food is to look at the different elements that are involved in that particular food. For example, if you would like to choose a favourite food that is sweet, then look at the numerous desserts that are available in the food market. It is also important to look at the other foods that are available so that you can make a comparison of them with your favourite food.

What are My Favourite Foods?

Thoughts that come to mind about my favourite food, nutritional value of chicken and health benefits, disadvantages of eating chicken, favourite healthy foods, conclusion on my favorite food essay, faq’s on my favorite food essay.

When it comes to my favourite foods I lean towards a bit of everything. These foods have all left a taste in my memory, whether it was the first time I had them or the 1,000th time. Some of my favourites are:

  • Cheesy Pizza
  • Salted Caramel Icecream
  • Dragon’s Teeth Cookie
  • Cheesy Popcorn
  • Red Velvet Cake
  • Eggs on a plate with toast

However, my absolute favourite food is chicken. I just love it! It’s soft, juicy, and perfectly moist. I also love how easy it is to cook with it. I also enjoy the combination of all the different flavours and textures. It’s a really versatile and easy ingredient to use, and you can put so many different flavours into something simple. It’s really good with all kinds of flavours, spices and herbs. Chicken also contains a lot of protein, which is good for my body.

When I think of chicken, the first thing that comes to mind is a warm and inviting meal. My favourite dish is chicken piccata, but I think it’s really hard to beat the classic chicken noodle soup! I’ve always loved chicken soup, ever since I was really young. My dad used to love cooking for us and he did it all the time. For example, on the weekend he would make fresh chicken soup and fried rice for us to eat. I always thought it was delicious! I’ve always liked chicken soup ever since then.

When I eat it there is a certain amount of satisfaction, and for some reason, I just can’t get enough of it! But the most important reason that I love chicken is that it reminds me of home.

Chicken is a very nutritious food that provides a variety of health benefits and is quite low in calories. It is high in protein and has all the essential amino acids. It also contains various vitamins and minerals that are important for your body. Chicken also has less fat than other types of meat, which makes it a healthier alternative. In view of the nutritional value of chicken, it is crucial that you consume it regularly if you want to remain healthy and fit.

Perception of Chicken Around The World

Chicken is a popular type of meat in most countries, and is the main source of protein for many people. It can be cooked in a variety of different ways, and it’s commonly known as the universal “fast food” because it’s fast to cook. Chicken is also a very versatile food that can be slathered with sauce and used as a meat replacement in many different recipes.

Moreover, chicken has been a staple of the diet in most cultures for centuries. It is certainly one of the most popular foods in the world, and I cannot imagine any meals without it. Most people will eat chicken as part of their daily routine. It’s a cheap, convenient, and high-quality protein that can be served with many different ingredients and spices to create delicious dishes. Cooking chicken at home is also much more fun than going out to buy expensive steaks or store-bought dishes.

For one thing, chicken is the most consumed animal source of food on the planet. Though it is healthy for humans, there are some potential dangers associated with this type of diet. Eating undercooked/ raw chicken can increase the risk of contracting salmonellosis, a bacterial infection that can cause severe diarrhoea, fever and vomiting. Symptoms can appear in as little as three to four hours after the infection. Additionally, the proteins found in the chicken are not recommended for people with kidney problems. Chicken is also low in iron, vitamin C, folate, zinc, and other important nutrients which are necessary for good health.

My Favorite Food

My favourite healthy food is tomatoes. I love tomatoes because they have a high nutrient content like vitamin C and fibre, which makes them one of the best foods to eat if you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Tomatoes are also an excellent source of antioxidants that can help protect us from cancer and other diseases. I also ensure that I drink adequate quantities of water as it helps me stay hydrated. I also like to eat pasta, because I can eat it without feeling guilty. I know that it is healthy for me and does not have any added ingredients. This is why I feel comfortable eating it, even though I am picky about my food.

My favourite food is healthy, it’s also delicious and can be chosen in different ways. I like chicken and tomatoes because they’re nutritious. In my opinion, the healthiest food for us humans is plants. This is because our lifestyle is more sedentary and we require less calories than ever. Regardless, a healthy lifestyle is paramount and eating well is part of that. Also, a healthy diet is one that should be varied and balanced.

Question 1. What is your Favourite food?

My favorite food: sushi

I love to eat. I love food. I love cooking and I’ve written several posts about different quick and easy meals I’ve made, but I’ve never talked about my favorite foods. Since I like food so much, it’s very easy for me to have a favorite food. I’m willing to try everything and there are generally very few foods I dislike. It is through one of those “let’s try some new food” experiences that I encountered one of my food loves: sushi.

my favorite food is sushi essay

First there’s sushi. I have a love for fish in general. In restaurants I tend to opt for fish or vegetarian dishes to begin with, but when I was introduced to sushi I was blown away. I love how sushi is pretty much bite sized while sufficing as a meal on its own. My first encounter with sushi was in Paris, where I tried not only standard maki rolls such as California rolls or spicy tuna. No, I also tried the house specialty: a maki roll wrapped in Salmon and…. cream cheese in the middle. OMG! It’s the best thing ever. I also tried their nutella/ sweetened egg sushi for dessert and that was good too.

my favorite food is sushi essay

That wasn’t the best sushi I’ve ever had though. The best sushi I ever had was in Las Vegas in 2008. It was this place that was a little out of the way, as the site it was on was being reconstructed when I was there. I ordered some sushi with mango & avocado as well as some great rolls but I’ve forgotten by now what they were called. It was super fresh and tasted delicious. I happened to have taken pictures:

Sushi tastes best when the fish and all ingredients are as fresh as possible and it is fairly easy to make. Especially when you have some tools that help you to make it. I was given such a handy tool by my brother for my birthday and that’s when I made the sushi in the first picture. All you need is super fresh ingredients and some patience while the rice is cooling down and then you’re good to go. Unfortunately, it’s been a while since I last made sushi. I should do it again some time. Anyone interested in having a sushi party at my place?

Q: Do you like sushi? If yes, what’s you’re favorite? If no, would you be willing to try it?

One response to “my favorite food: sushi”.

I can’t say I’ve ever really tried any proper sushi, but I would like to try it but it really isn’t very common here.

Short Essay on My Favorite Food For Class 4

You know how they say “home is where the heart is”? Well, my favorite food feels like a home for my taste buds. That’s right – pizza! Pizza has been my go-to since I was a kid and it still holds strong as my top pick today.

Pizza comes in all shapes and sizes – round, square, with thin crust or thick crust, and with all sorts of toppings. But for me, nothing beats the classic pepperoni pizza. The combination of tangy tomato sauce, melted cheese, and savory pepperoni never fails to make my mouth water.

What I love most about pizza is its versatility. You can have it as a snack or a full meal; you can eat it hot out of the oven or cold the next day. It’s perfect for any occasion – movie night with friends, family gatherings, or even as a quick bite on-the-go.

But it’s not just about the taste – pizza also holds a special place in my heart because of the memories associated with it. I remember how excited I used to get when my parents would order pizza for dinner, and how my siblings and I would fight over who got the biggest slice. Even now, when we gather for family dinners, pizza is always a crowd-pleaser.

As I’ve grown older, my love for pizza has only intensified. I’ve even started experimenting with different toppings – from mushrooms to olives to pineapple (yes, pineapple on pizza is amazing). But no matter how many variations I try, the classic pepperoni pizza will always hold a special place in my heart.

In conclusion, pizza is not just a food for me – it’s an experience. It brings people together and never fails to satisfy. And for that reason, it will always be my favorite food. So next time you’re debating what to have for dinner, I highly recommend you go for a slice of pizza – it’s always a good idea. So next time you’re debating what to have for dinner, I highly recommend you go for a slice of pizza – it’s always a good idea.

Essay on Favorite Food Biryani ( 150-200-250 Words ):

Alright, let’s talk about one of my favorite foods – biryani. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re definitely missing out! Biryani is a popular dish in many countries and regions such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Middle East. It consists of aromatic rice cooked with meat or vegetables and a variety of spices. There are many different variations of biryani, each with its own unique taste and flavor.

One of the reasons why I love biryani so much is because it reminds me of home. Growing up, my mom would often make biryani for special occasions or family gatherings. The delicious aroma of spices filling our kitchen would instantly make my mouth water.

But biryani is not just a dish for special occasions, it’s also a staple in many households. It’s a complete meal that is both filling and satisfying. The combination of tender meat or vegetables, flavorful rice, and aromatic spices makes for the perfect balance of textures and flavors.

What I love about biryani is that it can be customized according to personal preferences. Some people prefer chicken biryani, while others like beef or mutton biryani. There are also vegetarian options such as vegetable biryani or paneer biryani. And let’s not forget about the different types of biryani like Hyderabadi, Lucknowi, and Kolkata style.

But no matter what type of biryani you prefer, one thing is for sure – it’s a labor of love. Biryani is not something that can be whipped up quickly, it takes time and effort to prepare. The meat or vegetables need to be marinated in spices, the rice needs to be perfectly cooked, and then everything is layered together and slow-cooked for hours.

I also love how biryani brings people together. It’s a dish that is often shared with family and friends, and it’s always a hit at potlucks or dinner parties. Whenever I have biryani, it reminds me of the joy and love that comes with sharing a meal with loved ones.

In conclusion, biryani is not just a food for me, it represents my culture, my memories, and my love for food. It’s a dish that never fails to impress me with its rich flavors and textures, and I will always have a special place for it in my heart (and stomach!). So if you haven’t tried biryani yet, I highly recommend giving it a try – who knows, it might become your favorite too!

Short Essay on My Favorite Food Rice and Beans:

Rice and beans have always been a staple in my family’s diet. Growing up, I remember coming home from school to the delicious aroma of rice and beans cooking on the stove. It was a simple meal, yet it never failed to satisfy my hunger and please my taste buds.

Rice and beans are not only popular in my household but also in many other cultures around the world. In fact, it is considered a complete protein when combined together and is often referred to as the “perfect food”. However, what makes rice and beans so special to me goes beyond its nutritional value.

For starters, rice and beans are extremely versatile. They can be served in various ways – from a hearty bowl of stew to a simple side dish. I love experimenting with different flavors and spices to create new and unique variations of this classic dish. It never gets boring!

Moreover, rice and beans are budget-friendly and can easily feed a large family. As someone who comes from a big family, I appreciate the fact that this dish is not only delicious but also cost-effective.

But what truly makes rice and beans my favorite food is the sentimental value it holds. It reminds me of my childhood, family gatherings, and special occasions. It is a dish that brings people together, and I have fond memories of sitting around the table with my loved ones sharing stories over a steaming plate of rice and beans.

In addition to its delicious taste and versatility, rice and beans also have numerous health benefits. They are high in fiber, protein, and essential vitamins and minerals. They are also gluten-free, making them a perfect choice for those with dietary restrictions.

Overall, rice and beans hold a special place in my heart and will always be my favorite food. It not only satisfies my taste buds but also brings back cherished memories and nourishes my body. Whether it’s a simple weeknight dinner or a special occasion, rice and beans will always have a spot on my plate. So, the next time you are looking for a delicious and nutritious meal, give rice and beans a try – you won’t be disappointed!

My Favorite Food

As the world is advancing day by day, it is becoming easier to get access to many kinds of food at our doorstep. Every day, we all want to consume great and delicious cuisine. There are many different varieties of food accessible all throughout the world. We all like different foods, however, my personal favourite is burgers. I have eaten many cuisines but my favourite food is definitely a burger. I cannot resist myself when it comes to burgers.

Burgers are one of the most convenient and easiest foods to eat on the fly when we’re in a hurry. We can have a burger at any time of day, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or supper, and maybe some fries and a Coke to go with it. Many restaurants are well-known for making their speciality burgers in a particular style. Preparation changes from one establishment to the next. But what exactly makes a burger taste so good? They will taste vary depending on where you go, but they are all built the same. It is made up of a bun, a ground meat patty, and various toppings like cheese, onion slices, lettuce, and other sauces.

They are so soft yet crunchy, fresh and juicy that I love eating them. Even though there are many kinds of burgers, my favourite one is a chicken burger. The chicken patty gives the burger a juicy taste and it tingles my taste buds every time I eat it. I can already smell and taste it in my mouth as soon as I walked inside McDonald’s or any other restaurant that serves chicken burgers. As soon as I take a huge mouthful of it, I forget about any problems or troubles that are going on in the outer world and concentrate my entire concentration just on my chicken burger.

I love eating a burger which is filled with cheese and vegetables . The more vegetables you add, the better it tastes. My personal favourite is lettuce. It gives the burger the right amount of freshness and crunchiness.

I always eat my burger with ketchup. Most importantly, the thing I love about eating burgers is that I get to eat French fries along with them. They work as a great side to the dish and also make my stomach full.

Even though I liked eating a burger from a famous fast food joint, nothing beats the chicken burger my mother makes at home. She prepares everything from scratch, even the burger. Thus, it is extremely fresh and healthy too.

I know and feel that burgers have the great flavour and taste that would make anyone’s stomach pleased after a long day of work. I can tell by the reactions on people’s faces when they order their preferred burger variant. Overall, I don’t believe any other fast food will taste as good as a chicken burger. It’s just difficult to think that something will triumph in the future. As a result, I consider my favourite dish to be the best ever created.

A Great Variety

Perhaps the great thing about burgers is the great variety they offer. It has options for all people, who prefer vegetarian, non-vegetarian and even vegans. Thus, you can select the patty of your burger and dive right in.

There are a large number of burger joints being started in every corner of the city, each serving a variety of their own specialised and self-curated recipes. Burgers that are health-friendly and a go-to with a diet are also being introduced by these newly upcoming burger places. There are a lot many burger cafes that give their customers the choice to create their own burgers by providing them with a choice between patties, fillings, veggies, sauces as well as the number of burger layers they want.

Even though my personal favourite is a chicken burger, I also enjoy eating cheeseburgers and vegetable burgers. For me, all burgers taste delicious. Whenever we go out to eat with friends , I always order a burger.

My friends who do not eat non-vegetarian also eat burgers thanks to the great variety it offers. When we order food at home, we make sure to offer all kinds of burgers from cheeseburgers to chicken burgers, so that we get a taste of everything in our meal. Thus, I love burgers and their great variety makes it better.

Conclusion of My Favorite Food Essay

Even though my favourite food is a burger, I enjoy other foods as well like Pizza and Pasta. However, I feel when it comes to eating daily, nothing beats homemade food. The food we eat daily is what helps us gain energy. We cannot eat our favourite food daily as it will become boring then, but our staple food is something we enjoy eating on an everyday basis.

FAQ of My Favorite Food Essay

Question 1: Why do we need food?

Answer 1: We need food because it provides nutrients, energy for activity, growth. Similarly, all functions of the body like breathing, digesting food, and keeping warm are made possible because of food. It also helps in keeping our immune system healthy.

Question 2: Should you eat your favourite food all the time?

Answer 2: No, never. Favourite foods are meant to be enjoyed when there is any special occasion, or when you are tired of your regular homemade food. Eating too much of your favourite food will make your taste buds adjust to it and eventually, it will not remain our favourite. Excess of anything is bad and the same goes for our favourite food. Thus, we must eat it occasionally so that it remains our favourite.

Question 3: Is fast food healthy? Should we not consume fast food at all?

Answer 3: Fast food is often high in calories, sodium, and harmful fat, with one meal frequently providing enough for a whole day. It is also deficient in nutrients and nearly devoid of fruit, vegetables, and fibre. That doesn’t mean you should completely avoid fast food. It is feasible to eat fast food without jeopardising your healthy diet. Take advantage of the nutritious side dishes available at many fast-food places. Look for meals that include lean proteins, vegetables, and fibre, and avoid anything that is supersized.

Secrets of a Perfect Desk Lunch

The ideal meal will strike the right balance of protein, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates. Here’s how to make it happen.

A bento box on a desk filled with grains, hummus, a hard boiled egg and sliced vegetables. A bowl sits nearby filled with cherries and blueberries.

By Rachel Rabkin Peachman

Trying to make time for a nutritious lunch during the workday can feel like a losing battle.

Between meetings, deadlines and a never-ending stream of emails, many of us give in to the convenience of fast fare — or worse, skip the meal altogether.

But no matter your schedule, a balanced lunch deserves to be a priority. “Food is a biological need,” Maya Feller, a dietitian nutritionist in New York City, said, “and I know that sounds straightforward, but we all behave as if it’s not.”

When you skimp on lunch, your blood sugar dips. That zaps your energy, focus and stamina, said Lina Begdache, a dietitian nutritionist and associate professor of health and wellness studies at the State University of New York at Binghamton. And low blood sugar takes your mood “from happy and motivated to hangry and stressed out,” she said.

So how can you make time for lunch? And what should you be eating? We asked nutrition experts for their strategies — and asked our colleagues at New York Times Cooking for some winning recipes that you can easily prepare in advance.

It’s All About Balance

The goal with a midday meal is to consume the right mix of lean protein, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates. That generally works out to about 25 percent protein, 25 percent unsaturated fats and 50 percent complex carbohydrates, said Erin Palinski-Wade, a dietitian nutritionist in New Jersey.

“That framework will help you to feel full and give you sustained energy so you don’t have those blood sugar spikes and crashes later on in the day,” she said.
